00:00Here he is. This is Red Sox general manager Craig Breslow saying that the roster will be better moving forward with Rafael Devers gone.
00:09I understand, you know, why the initial reaction would be that, you know, it'd be tough to sit here and say when you when you move a player of of Rafi's caliber, you know, when you take that bat out of the lineup, how could I sit here and say that, you know, we're a better team?
00:23And I acknowledge that, you know, kind of on on paper, we're not going to have the same lineup that, you know, that we did.
00:31But this isn't about, you know, the game that is played on paper.
00:35This is about the game that's played on the field and ultimately about winning the most games that we can.
00:41And in order to do that, trying to put together the most functional and complete team that we can.
00:45And so, you know, I think when you consider the flexibility, the ability to give some of the young players some run, the opportunity to maybe repackage some of the resources and fill some voids in the roster as early as, you know, approaching this year's deadline and being really intentional about the environment that we create for these young players to thrive in.
01:05Then I do think that there is a real chance that at the end of the season, we're looking back and we've won more games than we otherwise would have.
01:10Well, we shall see. Right, genius?
01:15This guy acts like he's got it all figured out.
01:19And what he hasn't put into the equation was that bat and those numbers and those home runs and RBIs, the on base, everything else.
01:32That guy's been their best player since Mookie Betts.
01:36And Mookie Betts is gone.
01:38And what happened to Mookie Betts?
01:39He's winning rings.
01:41What happened to the Red Sox?
01:43Nothing happened.
01:45They've done nothing without him.
01:47Now they get rid of this bat and they think that they're, I mean, it's like beating a dead horse.
01:53They did it again.
01:54They got rid of their two best players in their two last deals.
01:59The only deal they've done that makes any sense to me at all was Crochet.
02:04That's a great deal.
02:06Other than that, that's a great deal for the San Francisco Giants as far as I'm concerned.
02:13They're going to benefit from that bat and you aren't.
02:17That's all there is to it.
02:18Now, I will tell you what.
02:20Roman Anthony has a bright future, allegedly, without repercussion.
02:26I mean, everyone thinks he's going to be a stud.
02:29The difference is, is that Rafi Devers is not old and Rafi Devers is a stud.
02:35And Roman Anthony is nowhere near Rafi Devers.
02:39And he won't be for seven years.
02:42I mean, he's not going to put up Rafi Devers numbers in the next two, three, four years, is he?
02:48No, he's not.
02:50I don't believe that for a minute.
02:51You're going to tell me that getting rid of that bat makes you better?
02:57I mean, bro, you are crack high.
03:01Crack high.
03:02You're so tripping.
03:03You're on the butter.
03:05That's all I know.
03:05You cannot get...
03:07That is like the Pirates getting rid of Barry Bones.
03:10What happened to the Pirates after they lost Barry Bones?
03:15They haven't won since.
03:18Okay?
03:19I think the Red Sox made a bad move.
03:23And I'll believe it.
03:24I'll believe what he's saying when I see it.
03:27What they need to do then is what he's saying.
03:29They need to win the East, go to the playoffs, win playoff series.
03:34Because they haven't been doing that with Rafi Devers.
03:38But he's their best player.
03:40He's their most productive player.
03:42He had the most hits, most home runs, most everything.
03:44And you got rid of him.
03:45Obviously, this guy wasn't the one that got rid of Betts.
03:50But he could have learned from that guy not to F things up the way I think he just did.
03:54Good to be here.
03:59Good to be here.
03:59I agree with you.
04:00Good to be here.
04:14I agree with you.
