00:00I swear I'm not trying to be like that guy, but I gotta practice.
00:04I'm gonna bring my guitar to our little like holding area.
00:08But it was actually really sweet.
00:10Turns out Travis can play, turns out Fortune can play,
00:13and she's a beautiful singing voice.
00:16And Arnold really was enjoying listening to everyone,
00:18so it actually became really, really fun.
00:22FUBAR is back for a second season of high-octane action and major laughs.
00:26Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carrie-Anne Moss, Monica Barbaro, and the rest of the cast
00:31spoke to The Hollywood Reporter all about the new season.
00:34And Barbaro even revealed how she balanced filming the Netflix series
00:37and a complete unknown at the same time.
00:39I'm very protective of my team.
00:43Witness protection was our only choice.
00:45But all of us living under one roof can get awkward.
00:49So this show really has everything.
00:51Action, comedy, drama, romance.
00:54How has it all taken to the next level this season?
00:57They increased the amount of action.
01:00They increased the amount of intensity.
01:02And the humor also.
01:05It's very, very funny.
01:06Some of the scenes are very, very funny.
01:08And what's really interesting is that towards the end,
01:11it's really ramping up.
01:13The stakes are getting higher.
01:14The drama is getting higher.
01:15The comedy is getting more and more and more.
01:17And I said, oh my God, oh my God, it's like wild.
01:19I think we really leaned into the ridiculousness of the show
01:23and just sort of embraced that world of just not taking ourselves too seriously
01:28but giving you a little bit extra of everything.
01:31And I think this season we really turned the show.
01:33As soon as you think it's just all jokes, boom.
01:37It gets flipped on its head.
01:38It's like something crazy is going down.
01:40As soon as you think it's like, oh, it's the heaviest show, boom.
01:43Here comes a crazy joke that's fine and that you don't see coming.
01:46I just love the fact that we're all relatively dysfunctional
01:49but we're trying to save the world.
01:51And so you have this group of people that don't seem qualified to save the world
01:56yet somehow we do a pretty good job.
01:58Not bad.
01:59Moss joins the show for season two as Greta,
02:02a former East German spy who has a romantic history
02:05with Schwarzenegger's character Luke Bruner.
02:07How would you say Greta challenges Luke this season?
02:10I love that she just meets him straight on.
02:12You know, Arnold, as an actor, as a person,
02:18as the icon that he is, to go toe-to-toe with that
02:21is asking an actress to really hold that space,
02:26which I was excited to do, to have those scenes.
02:31When I read the dancing scene, I was like, I have to do this.
02:34I want to do that tango with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
02:37Well, I mean, she came equipped with the experience that she has
02:46from Matrix, from all her past shows.
02:51She knows how to do action.
02:53She knows how to fight.
02:54She knows how to do all of that.
02:56And so I think that really added a lot to the second season now.
03:00She really was a great, great addition.
03:02I was very excited about having her there and working with her on the set.
03:08And especially the dance sequence, yeah, that was really fun
03:10because she's much more natural with the dancing than I am.
03:14I'm not that good with it.
03:16So I have to kind of like, she does it like four times or five times in rehearsals.
03:21And I did like 10, 12 times rehearsals, you know.
03:25Hello, Luke.
03:27Greta.
03:29Since season one of FUBAR was released over two years ago,
03:32Barbaro, who plays Emma Bruner, has become an Oscar nominee.
03:36She received a Best Supporting Actress nomination earlier this year
03:39for her portrayal of Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown.
03:42I heard you were filming season two of this show and A Complete Unknown at the same time.
03:46Yes, yeah, there was about a month of crossover,
03:49over the end of A Complete Unknown and the beginning of this season.
03:52How did you balance that?
03:53Oh, God.
03:54I don't know if I did balance.
03:56I survived, so there's that.
03:58But I just really owe it to our line producer on FUBAR
04:02who like figured out the scheduling of this
04:05and sort of moved mountains in order to make it work.
04:07And the cast of FUBAR was just so, so generous.
04:11We were shooting three episodes at a time
04:13just to make sure the schedule could work.
04:16It was pretty wild.
04:17I was flying back and forth between New York, New Jersey, and Toronto.
04:21And like everyone was so patient and wonderful.
04:24And yeah, I kind of can't believe we made it work.
04:27And I'm so glad they did.
04:29She learned 11 songs for it.
04:31She had her guitar on set.
04:32She was so committed and dedicated.
04:35To see what it took for her to get there and be rewarded for it was really cool.
04:40So she was bouncing from set to set.
04:42And we were hearing about her experience as she would come back to film with us.
04:45We hear about the things that she just went through.
04:47And it's just really impressive the amount of herself that she threw into that role.
04:52The movie was a complete unknown, amazing film.
04:55She crushed it.
04:56Yeah, they say hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work.
04:59Monica is talented and she works hard.
05:02So it's amazing to see her flourish and she deserves everything that comes her way.
05:06Season 2 of FUBAR is now streaming on Netflix.
05:09For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
