00:00Men, cardio is important, and now we have the research to prove it may help stave off cancer.
00:06A new report from the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences examined nearly 200,000
00:10Swedish men aged 18 to 75 over the course of 10 years. Researchers measured participants' VO2 max,
00:18which is the body's ability to use oxygen during exercise. According to Website Insider,
00:22the men who had the highest levels of cardiorespiratory fitness had significantly lower
00:27risks of dying from lung, colon, or prostate cancer. Adjusting for lifestyle factors like diet,
00:33health conditions, and smoking habits, there was still a lower risk for developing colon and
00:38prostate cancer. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends a combined total
00:42of 150 minutes of moderate activity a week or 75 minutes of intense activity.
