00:00Now, if you're struggling to grow on YouTube, there's a really good chance you're making one
00:07of these 15 mistakes. They're very common. A lot of people overlook them. So let's go into it.
00:14The first big mistake that you can make with a YouTube channel, this is big, it's just not
00:19having a plan. I mean, why in the heck are you making a YouTube channel? Is it to make money,
00:24to help the world, to get attention, to market a business? Whatever the reason, I firmly believe
00:31this, that having an opt-in page, collecting emails can really skyrocket your growth and what
00:37you want to do big time. There's so many benefits to collecting emails. It's insane. And if you know
00:45what you're doing, you don't even need that many views. You really don't. And you could do a lot
00:50of good stuff with emails, okay? All right. So that's the first one. And number two is you want
00:56a big video plan, okay? And what I recommend, I do something like this, is I'll have one video,
01:04right? A big video. And that will direct the viewer to a landing page where I collect emails. And then
01:11I make a bunch of other videos, like this picture here, that all direct people to, well, the viewers,
01:18to that first video. And the reason I do this, and it's a good idea, is it helps the algorithm so
01:25much. Because if somebody watches maybe two of your videos, you know, could be more in a certain
01:30amount of time, YouTube will consider them a subscriber, even if they don't hit the subscribe
01:36button, okay? It's so powerful and it helps your videos rank. So it's a really good idea, okay?
01:43All right. Next up, this is big. It's having a weak hook, okay? You know, the first 15 seconds,
01:54YouTube looks at that big time. If people drop off, it's going to kill your views. So having a very
02:00strong hook can help you get a lot more views, okay? So a couple ideas. You want to start with a
02:07bold statement or a shocking fact. That can definitely help you. Number two is speak directly
02:14to the viewer's pain point, okay? Kind of poke at it. That can help. Use a countdown or time-based
02:20promise, okay? That's the third idea. And number four is tease the outcome without giving it away.
02:26That's another great idea as a hook to get somebody interested to watch more of your video.
02:31All right. And next up is SEO. Yeah, I mean, YouTube's a big search engine. It's a machine.
02:39We make videos for people, but we have to dummy proof it for the algorithm. So this has to do with
02:44your titles, your description, your tags, for your channel, as well as the video. And there's a lot
02:50really to it. And what I'm going to do, because I made this massive post about this, it goes into so
02:55much detail. Just click on the link in the description, and I'll put the link to this post, and you can go in
03:01there, and it will walk you through exactly what to do when it comes to optimizing YouTube for the
03:07SEO to help your videos rank, okay? That's all I could do, because I have a lot of things to cover
03:13here. Next up, having an inconsistent schedule when your upload videos can hurt you. And honestly,
03:20this is the one of the things that I struggle with myself. And what you could do, might not be a bad
03:26idea. Just have one video a week, and maybe like Monday be consistent. And whatever videos you make
03:32after that is like a bonus. So that one video is consistent, okay? All right, next up is how
03:41optimizing thumbnails to get clicks. I mean, if nobody clicks on your video, your entire video
03:47doesn't mean anything. It doesn't even matter. So titles and the thumbnail, I call it the packaging,
03:52is really very important. It's more important than the video itself, okay? And so you want to give
03:59yourself the best edge you can, all right? So again, if you click that link in the description,
04:07I created this whole post about these 10 ways to make your thumbnails more clickable, and I even
04:12walk you through exactly how to do it, step by step, okay? All right, next up is fluff and long intros
04:18can hurt your YouTube channel, and people drop off, man. I mean, I just, people's attention spans
04:24are short. So long intros, not getting the point, it just forces people to click away. That first 15
04:30seconds is everything to your video. And yeah, I used to hate those long intro videos. They're still
04:36like stroking someone's ego. Next up is how no call to action at the end of your video is going to
04:43hurt you, okay? And yeah, I mean, it's the same thing with YouTube. You know, every video at the
04:49very end should have like a call to action. And you could change this call to action. You could
04:53show you like, hey, you know, check, here's some examples of a call to action, okay? Leave a comment
04:59below. Boom, that's a call to action. Subscribe. Boom, that's a call to action. Number two. Three. All right,
05:05well, hey, click the link in that description below. That's another call to action. So anything that
05:10you tell the viewer what to do at the end, it's going to help you. They're more likely to do it,
05:16okay? And that's going to help you in the long term, okay? And you also want to make sure that's
05:21at the end. I usually just have one because if too many will confuse somebody. And I've seen some
05:26people have like call to actions in the beginning, like, hey, subscribe. You know, that's the worst
05:31thing to do. It's like so much, it's pandering. But I can't say anything because I did that a long,
05:37long time ago, okay? All right. Next up is not engaging with comments in your channel. If
05:44somebody leaves a comment, they're honoring you. Even if it's like a troll, like nasty comment,
05:49they help your videos rank. So hey, just respond with thanks for the comment or hard, just anything,
05:55okay? All right. Next up is playlists or series. You know, those are great for your channel.
06:03And I'm like you. I used to think, what the heck? What's so cool about playlists? Well,
06:07here's the thing. Playlists will autoplay to the next video and that increases your watch
06:12time and that helps your videos do better. Plus, they can show up in the search engines
06:18and be indexed as a separate piece of content. That's more views. And you didn't even have
06:23to do anything for it. It helps your channel look more organized and it makes people, keeps
06:30people on your content. That's a good thing. And they just work great with this whole content
06:35cluster idea that I have because you can have one content cluster be a playlist with a bunch
06:41of videos pointing to one video and that one video points to your landing page. It's a great
06:45idea. End screens. Yeah, skipping end screens can hurt your channel. And this is that little
06:53box at the very end that it's very easy to click on. And it could be a link to another of your
06:57YouTube videos, a subscribe button, a playlist, or an external link. The bad news is to get
07:03that external link, you need to be involved in the partner program and you need to have
07:06like a thousand subscribers and a shit ton of watch time. Okay. It's not easy. And, but what I do
07:14is I just have a link as a video to another one of my videos. So you can do that. Okay. Next up
07:21is quitting too early after low views. Okay. That's very bad. And the thing is it could take
07:29time for a video pop. And, uh, I know it's the same thing with YouTube, same thing with Tik TOK
07:35with all these platforms. And remember, YouTube is the number two website in the world, a 2.5 billion
07:43monthly visitors. So, you know, it doesn't hurt to have some YouTube videos out there. And what I mean
07:48by that is a normal YouTube video can, can take months to go viral. I've had videos that I've
07:54made insane long ago. They still making like shit tons of videos. And some videos I make,
07:59they just, they just suck. They just die. You just never know. Okay. All right. Uh, yeah,
08:05using short and normal videos can help your channel and they both target different audiences. Okay.
08:11Uh, YouTube shorts can attract viewers quickly through being discovered and long form
08:18videos are kind of better over building relationships, building trust. So you want
08:22both. Um, I mean, every view, like, comment helps your, your video. And it's also watch
08:28time is good too. Um, so what I do, and here's a really cool strategy is you can make one long
08:34YouTube video and then break it up into short videos. So that way you can get both. Okay.
08:40It's a really good strategy, but honestly, if you had to just pick one, I mean, short, you're
08:45better. I mean, you're going to get more views, more bang for your buck, and they're
08:48very easy to make. And these are short 15, 20 second videos. But, um, to be honest with
08:53you, I like to go deeper. It's very hard to, to make a 15 second video sometimes. All right.
08:59Next up is repurposing your videos. Uh, yeah. I mean, you could do a shit ton a lot with one
09:05video and you could post it to more places than YouTube to get even more views. Um, and if
09:11you want to know exactly how to do this, I just, I have a post explains every single
09:15freaking place you can do with it. Just click on that link in the description. Okay. All
09:19right. Uh, next up is audio and video. And I've heard that 80% of a video is audio and
09:26I do kind of buy into this. I do. Cause I've, I've watched this perfect video movie before
09:31and the audio was a little bit off, but had great graphics and I just couldn't do it. I just,
09:36I just, it's like podcasts. That's why we listen to podcasts, right? There's no freaking
09:41video, but they can still, they're good. Right. Um, so if you want to know about equipment
09:48and just cheap stuff to get against in that post, I show you exactly what to do. Uh, this
09:53microphone here, this thing was, uh, it was like $10 and it helps my, uh, the audio
10:00amplifies it. Okay. Uh, viewer retention stats can hurt channel. Yeah. I mean, it's good to
10:07be now, then be brutally honest and see what's working, what's not working. Be careful. You
10:12don't want to go crazy. Maybe once a month, look at it. Maybe once a week at most, not
10:17every day. You don't want to be some, you're constantly looking at your freaking stats going,
10:21Oh, another person watched my video. You don't want to do that. Uh, but you want to see when
10:26people are dropping off. If this is in the beginning, you know that you need a stronger
10:29hook. And if it's, if you see a pattern of people dropping out at a certain point and
10:34that, then you want to fix those points in your video basically. And, uh, lastly, not
10:42being too niche can help a YouTuber. And I've made this, I struggle with this cause I would
10:47just talk about random stuff cause I was interested in everything. So you want to be a little bit
10:52more niche and have content clusters, which can help the machine and your videos rank. So
10:58you know, if your videos are all over the place, you're just going to struggle. Okay.
11:01But there's good news about this. You don't have to be in niche jail. There's ways to slowly
11:07migrate to other topics. Okay. Anyways, there's a lot to this. And if you want to check out the
11:14full post about every detail on how to get better YouTube, just click on a link in the description.
11:20Okay. I'll put it down there. So it's easy. Hopefully this was helpful. All right. You have a
11:24wonderful rest of your day. Bye.
