(askanews) - "Stare due giorni insieme è un'occasione ottima per provare a discutere di tutti i temi che abbiamo: i recenti eventi in Medio Oriente, il cammino verso una pace giusta e duratura in Ucraina, gli sforzi che dobbiamo fare in Europa per rafforzare la nostra difesa e la nostra sicurezza in vista del vertice Nato". Lo ha detto la presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni, in una breve dichiarazione in apertura del bilaterale con il primo ministro britannico Keir Starmer. I due si sono incontrati a Kananaskis, alla vigilia dell'avvio dei lavori del G7, quando in Italia era notte.Meloni ha sottolineato poi, da un punto di vista bilaterale, di essere molto "contenta della nostra cooperazione sulla migrazione, su cui abbiamo molto da discutere. Abbiamo lavorato molto duramente per avere una dichiarazione congiunta dedicata al contrasto ai trafficanti ed è stato molto importante per l'Italia: siamo stati i primi a portare il tema a livello G7. Quindi sono molto felice che questo lavoro continui e grazie al Regno Unito per essere stato molto chiaro su questo argomento".
