00:06Over 5,000 participants joined a special inclusive run for people with disabilities
00:11and a community fun run from Hospital Kuala Lumpur during Sunday morning's KL Car Free Morning event.
00:17The 6am event was organized by Kuala Lumpur City Hall
00:20and officiated by Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Maimuna Mohamed Sharif.
00:24Youth and Sports Minister Hana Yeo flagged off the runs,
00:27which aim to champion inclusivity and encourage active living for everyone in the community.
00:32Today, I'm here to launch the flag of the run by the Police and Sukan Negeri Wilayah Persekutuan
00:43and also the run by Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
00:46This is a great combination with DBKL.
00:49Because the infrastructure for Car Free Day has already existed,
00:52so we really want to take advantage of more people who want to take a race like this
00:57to connect DBKL,
00:59so that we don't need to do the same.
01:03City Hall also commemorated World Bicycle Day 2025 by organizing a special edition of the event.
01:10Maimuna and World Bicycle Day pioneer Professor Leszek Sibilski also joined the Ride with Ambassadors,
01:17where participants cycled 5 to 7 kilometers through iconic city routes.
01:22I want to promote the World Bicycle Day, celebrate the World Bicycle Day,
01:26enjoy meeting people from the cycling community in Malaysia,
01:31and I want to promote the culture and obviously for very selfish reasons
01:38the World Bicycle Day which I want to see growing.
01:41And I already have a promise from the mayor of Kuala Lumpur
01:45that next year she will issue the proclamation of World Bicycle Day.
01:49Take a look!
01:50The mayor of Kuala Lumpur went for a bicycle ride with us.
01:54What a message!
01:56This is a fantastic message to the entire population, to the entire nation.
02:01She's inviting everyone in your country, in your society, to join her.
02:07The KL Car-Free Morning Program, a weekly initiative by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall since 2013,
02:13is now in its 12th year.
02:15The overwhelming response from local residents and the international community
02:19has established it as a benchmark for comparable car-free initiatives across other states.
