00:00Residents across Manipur have hailed the seizure of a vast cache of arms as a crucial step
00:11toward restoring peace and public safety in the state.
00:19In a coordinated operation on the night of June 13-14, security forces including the
00:25Manipur Police, CAPF, Indian Army and SM rifles acted on precise intelligence on the outskirts
00:33of five valley districts.
00:37They recovered a total of 328 weapons, 151 SLR rifles, 65 incensed rifles, 73 other rifles,
00:475 carbine guns and 2 MP5 submachine guns along with explosives and other warlike stoves.
00:55People in Manipur are hopeful that such measures will bring long awaited stability and reduce
01:04regional tensions in Manipur.
01:10We never really witnessed these kind of weapons seizures before but ever since prisoners rule
01:16has been imposed in Manipur such seizures of weapons has been occurring more frequently.
01:23And so in that sense we're very happy.
01:27It gives us a sense of relief that especially in particular that central forces are becoming
01:37a lot more serious about disarming, disarming various armed groups.
01:42Arms by the security forces and we saw this as a good sign of progress for the road to peace
01:53under the current president's rule regime.
01:58And we hope that the benefit of being under president's rule should be utilized in a more active and broader capacity
02:11so that this may act as a big step towards restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
02:20I just heard that in a very recovery arms have been initiated by the police with coordination
02:27with the military.
02:29So such acts are welcome and I think such kind of acts will bring peace and harmony
02:37and we stop the illegal things that are happening in Manipur.
02:42We got the news that a huge portion of the arms that were illegally circulated during the unrest in Manipur
02:52has now been recovered by the security forces.
02:56And we are very hopeful that this is a good sign.
02:59It will actually put the conflict on pause, we hope, for a long time, which is much needed
03:10since our state has been in turmoil for quite some time now.
03:15So we look forward to the future.
03:18We think this has been a very, very good move.
