00:00You may be wondering why I'm reviewing the Peugeot 408 again.
00:04Well, I'm not, because this is the E3008.
00:08And although it may look similar, it's something new entirely.
00:11And it's competing against a jungle of big cats in the electric SUV market.
00:15The Tesla Model Y, the Skoda Enyaq.
00:18So let's see, are Peugeot king of the jungle or are they S cargo?
00:23Go.
00:29Two things I'm looking for when I'm buying an electric SUV is range and space.
00:35The Peugeot E3008 Allure will give you a WLTP range of 327 miles.
00:39The GT version I've got here, which comes with more bells and whistles, as you would imagine,
00:44its range is 326.
00:46So there's only one mile of a difference.
00:49Now in 2025, Arnold Clark will take delivery of a long-range variant.
00:53That's two words you long to hear when you're buying any electric SUV car.
00:59It'll give you an extra 100 miles in your range, taking you up to 435 miles.
01:04And on top of that, Peugeot will give you an eight-year warranty in the car,
01:07making them the first European manufacturer to give you that on a model.
01:11So what about space?
01:12As it sits right now, 588 litres of boot space with some underfloor storage as well.
01:18So enough room to get a spare wheel in there.
01:21If you put the seats flat, you get 1,663 litres of boot space.
01:25That's enough room to have 1,663 of those in the car.
01:30The GT model also comes with a pretty cool option of swipey-swipe boot closing.
01:34And what about space in the front?
01:43Well, there's bootloads of space in here.
01:44There's 34 litres in total and there's 17 compartments.
01:48Want to try and find them all?
01:49So that definitely ticks the boxes on range and space.
01:59Next on our list is to see what it's like to drive.
02:04Oh, just before I go, if you're wondering where you can get your hands on an E3000 and A,
02:09head over to arnoldclark.com because we've got over 20,000 new and used cars for you to choose from.
02:15At Arnoldclark, we make it easy.
02:18Here's some stats for you.
02:19It will do 0-62 in 8.7 seconds.
02:22It's got 210 horsepower and it's got a 73 kilowatt hour battery.
02:27I think we have to say well done to Peugeot for giving us something with a bit of get-up-and-go
02:31because it still weighs 2.5 tonnes.
02:35It's not trying to be its French relative, the Alpine with its fingertip handling and perfect precision
02:40or the big BMW M3 with its growling engine.
02:44And it's not trying to be the MG Cyberster, which will do 0-62 in round about 3 seconds.
02:49But that's not a criticism of the car.
02:50That's not where they're trying to put it.
02:52They're trying to give you a car that's comfortable and easy to drive.
02:56That's exactly what they've done.
02:57And relaxed is what you can be driving this EV.
03:02Because the new E3008 is the first car within the Stellantis Group to be built on the STLA medium platform,
03:09essentially spearheading an entirely new generation of Stellantis vehicles.
03:14It claims to deliver the best in-class electric range and energy efficiency.
03:19What more could you ask for?
03:21The steering wheel is a talking point.
03:24It's small.
03:25You can't deny that.
03:26It is really, really small.
03:27But it fits my hands well.
03:29I think it would look cooler if it was upside down.
03:31But that's something completely different.
03:33This car's not trying to give you that sporty feel.
03:35It's trying to give you an EV to drive that will get you around the place and give you good mileage as well.
03:41And you're going to do it in a lot of comfort.
03:43That's something else.
03:44The pedals are nice as well.
03:45The brake pedal does have a quite long reach on it.
03:48But a lot of EVs that I've driven, when you do initially hit the brake pedal,
03:52they can be a bit of a jerk because it's quite fierce.
03:54But the brakes are nice and smooth and forgiving.
03:57You guys know I love my Regen pedals, and we've got them in here.
04:00I can play with them.
04:01It's a first for Peugeot, actually, in an EV.
04:03I still don't understand, though, how manufacturers have a plus, which means less,
04:08and a negative that means more.
04:10Don't quite get that.
04:11And it's not a hugely powerful car.
04:13The Regen also isn't that strong.
04:15You can't do one-pedal driving.
04:18But that's not what this car's about.
04:20It's very much something else.
04:21It's about luxury, comfort, and getting you there.
04:24Some of the reviewers have said that this steering feels light.
04:27I think they're talking rubbish.
04:30It feels good.
04:31There's a good feedback from the road through the steering wheel and back into your hands,
04:34and that's what you look for as a driver.
04:37You've got that direct connection with the tarmac.
04:39The road itself is quite bumpy that we're on, and the ride smoothens that out.
04:44I don't want to say plush, but I just did.
04:47The GT model comes with adaptive cruise control, which I bang on about all the time.
04:52You know how much I love adaptive cruise controls.
04:56It keeps you safe from the car in front, and you can just relax as you drive along the road.
05:00It's got a whole host of other safety features as well, such as automatic braking system,
05:05lane keep assist, and traction control, which could be good in the winter months.
05:10Wind noise in this car?
05:11Well, there is a little bit of wind noise.
05:13It's creeping in, and we're doing 60 minutes per hour just now.
05:16Will that get worse as we go faster?
05:18It might do, but it's not a great put-off.
05:21Driving modes.
05:22We have got, in fact, how many driving modes do you think I've got?
05:27Eco, normal, and sport.
05:28That's what we give you.
05:29Unlike the Genesis, which if you hit the top right of the screen just now,
05:32that one had about 1,510 from what I remember.
05:35Mud, snow, terrain, you name it, it had it.
05:37We have got eco, normal, and sport.
05:40If it was a drive along at 60 miles per hour and pushed the accelerator pedal,
05:43there is a bit of urgency for the first couple of seconds,
05:46so it has got a good little bit of pickup there.
05:49But Duncan being Duncan, he likes to waft about in eco mode,
05:53because that's what EV driving is all about for me,
05:56to try and prolong the battery life and try and get more range for every mile you do.
06:03Visibility when you're driving is another key feature for absolutely everybody,
06:06and the apertures on cars and windscreens seem to be getting narrower as we go on.
06:11This one doesn't look too big.
06:13The pillar on the side is quite chunky as well,
06:15but the visibility is still pretty good.
06:17As I look out my back window, the view is lovely.
06:20It's quite a decent window,
06:22considering it is a coupe at the back and the roof does slope down.
06:25You see a lot out there.
06:26Right now, we're being followed by a MINI.
06:31Price of the car,
06:32the Allure model is just under £46,000.
06:34This GT model, just over £49,000.
06:38But remember, with the GT, you get so much more tech.
06:43I think it's safe to say that the E3008 ticks the box
06:46when it comes to smooth, comfortable driving.
06:49But the next factor that we have to take into consideration
06:51is how does it look.
06:53The front end of this car reminds me of a lot of cars
07:06that I've seen recently, and it's styling.
07:09It's got a grille, which takes me straight to the Renault Scenic
07:11or the Renault Rafale, with those diamond inserts.
07:14Pretty cool.
07:15Down the bottom, I like the silver effect,
07:17which goes across the bottom of the splitter.
07:19And the lights, well, they're called claw lights,
07:22but they look more like Warped to me.
07:24Or remember WWF, the Ultimate Warrior?
07:27Maybe not.
07:28It also looks like a lion to me,
07:30but I want to know if it does to you guys.
07:32Come down the side,
07:32because we've got 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels
07:35that have got plastic inserts
07:37to make them smoother on the road.
07:39I like the Peugeot badge on the side.
07:41And although the car's all black,
07:43this brushed aluminium comb effect up over the top here
07:46works really well.
07:47And it goes right back into the floating spoiler.
07:50Yes, it floats,
07:51because there's an air gap at the top there
07:53to make it more aerodynamic efficient on the road.
07:57Let's take a moment to appreciate the cockpit
07:59on the E3008,
08:00because there's a lot of really interesting tech
08:02going on inside here.
08:03First of all, I'm sitting in a comfortable seat,
08:06Alcantara finish, which I do like,
08:07and fabric across the dashboard
08:09and around the side of the doors.
08:11You've got an iCockpit,
08:12which is the area that you're sitting in.
08:1421-inch screen in front of you there,
08:16and an iToggle down here
08:18where your favourite widgets can go in.
08:20CarPlay's already in it for me,
08:21so I'm happy with that.
08:23Climate Control's also down there,
08:25but then you go back up to the top for Climate Control,
08:27and it can be a little bit time-consuming
08:29to get your perfect settings.
08:31You've got a wireless charger mat down there as well,
08:33and you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in this car,
08:36but wirelessly connected,
08:37so no need for cables.
08:39Your driving gears are up there on the dashboard,
08:41which is a little bit different
08:42because you'd normally have them down here,
08:44but I like that.
08:45They're hidden away.
08:47Into the back.
08:48Legroom, tick.
08:50Headroom, tick.
08:51Remember, I'm 6'2",
08:53give or take a few inches,
08:54and there's a lot of extra headroom for me here.
08:57You've got your air vents,
08:58a little bit of storage,
08:59and two USBs down there to charge on,
09:02tinted windows,
09:03nice Alcantara feel,
09:04and that lovely finish on the back of the seats
09:07and along the doors
09:08that runs from the front of the car.
09:10There's also an armrest in here as well
09:12with your drinks holders.
09:13It's a comfy place to be.
09:15There's a good bit of luxury in this car.
09:17Well, there you have it,
09:17the Peugeot E3000A,
09:19a fully electric SUV
09:21that, for me,
09:22ticks a lot of the boxes in that area.
09:24It's going to be really interesting
09:25to see where Peugeot go
09:26with this new platform.
09:28But don't just agree with what I'm saying.
09:30Get yourself behind the wheel of one of these
09:31at one of the local Arnold Clark dealerships.
09:34And give me some comments in the box
09:35if you agree with what I've said in this review.
09:38I'm Duncan Vincent.
