As India mourned the tragic Air India crash, parts of the internet turned cruel — mocking victims, spreading racist slurs, and even questioning a survivor’s identity.

00:05These are just some of the racist comments that surfaced after the tragic Air India plane

00:10crash near Ahmedabad, a tragedy met with hate, mockery and stereotypes.

00:15But the response wasn't one-sided.

00:17Indians online were quick to clap back, calling out the blatant racism.

00:23The lone survivor of the crash, an Indian-origin British national, wasn't spared either.

00:28Some users insisted he is not British, simply because of his name and skin tone.
