Israel braces for retaliatory attack from Iran

The mood in Israel remains tense as the government continues to issue warnings to citizens over an expected Iranian attack. 00:00Since about three o'clock this morning we got a message, an alarm on our phones basically from Israel's government saying shelter in place.

00:07There was concern that there was going to be this retaliatory attack from Iran and for the last more than 12 hours it's been touch and go here

00:15with Israelis kind of anticipating, people waiting for these drones to come.

00:20We haven't seen anything here in Tel Aviv. It has been quiet because Israel said that it's intercepted a lot of the drones

00:26but it also says that this is continuing. You've had people running in some cases to shops trying to stock up and water and food.

00:34Some of these shops have run out of water. At the same time you have people kind of going about their daily lives,

00:39driving on the streets, swimming in the sea. But Israeli officials say that this is just the beginning,

00:44that this is going to go on for as many days as needed. Let's listen to what Chief of Staff Eyal Zemir had to say.

00:50We are in a historical campaign unlike any other. This is a critical campaign to prevent an existential threat

01:00by an enemy who seeks to destroy us. We launched this attack because the time has come. We are at the point of no return.

01:10Israeli officials have told us that this has been planned for some time and that they,

01:15some officials have said that they smuggled munitions, precision munitions, into Iran before this attack

01:22and they were activated when it happened. So this is going to continue going. Now Israel has told people

01:27they can relax a little bit in Israel. However, they are telling people to be vigilant, to pay attention

01:32to what is happening and they could activate and tell people to go and shelter in place at any time.

01:38So the situation is developing and it is ongoing right now.
