00:04Okay, you recently released a new EP called Second Self. What was the inspiration for it?
00:09I feel like I write a lot about like just the things that I know and the things that
00:14I've experienced the most and I think that's you know love and heartbreak and and I've got
00:20I've got a long long history of both of those things so I can pull from from from a lot of places.
00:30You collabed with Maren Morris on one of the songs and you two are actually good friends.
00:37What is the last thing that Maren texted you? The last thing that Maren texted me?
00:41I don't even know it was probably something like because we performed at Coachella together
00:47and it was honestly probably just us being like so proud of you love you did so good um she is
00:53truly one of the most like wonderful women I've ever met in the music industry she's just like
01:01so down to earth so humble so kind such a girl's girl like always rooting for people that she loves
01:08it's I feel like it's rare but it's really beautiful. We know you're adamant about starting
01:13your own label why is now the right time to break out and do your own thing? When you come out with a
01:18certain type of song it sort of becomes your identity so I think obviously when issues came
01:24out people sort of knew me as the raw vulnerable emotional girl and I think when you have
01:34that as your identifier it can be um kind of it can be kind of scary to a major label for you to
01:42want to do something else that isn't those markers I am very much those things at my core I am also
01:48you know multifaceted in my personality I am also like goofy and silly and um you know flirty and sexy
01:58when I want to be and I think that's like what this this sort of EP represents and getting to do that as
02:06an independent artist is obviously really scary but also really rewarding I'm I'm betting on myself

03:02planning a wedding on top of like eight other things that I'm doing in my life right now but
03:06um I'm so excited he is just the most magical man I've ever met in my life and I'm just so
03:13excited to marry him so it's gonna be great can people expect the Julia Michaels performance at
03:18the wedding oh dear lord no I'm already like I already hate being the center of attention I really
03:24picked the wrong job I already hate being the center of attention at anything so the idea of being like the
03:30center of attention at my own wedding is like truly terrifying you will never ever see me willingly

03:44honestly I'm not really like a showy person I'm not that flashy like I think we're just gonna do
