At a press briefing on Monday, Matt McCool, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service Washington Field Office, was asked about security amid protests in LA.
Transcript
00:00Any changes to protocol, the ramping up of additional security?
00:04Thank you very much.
00:05Okay. I'm Jackie with News Nation.
00:08Will there be any additional protocols, ramping up of security,
00:12anything in response to what is currently taking place in L.A. regarding ice raids and protests there?
00:19So given that this is an NSSE, we plan for those things ahead of time.
00:23So since April 22nd, we've been planning for this, which is shorter than normal.
00:26But we're paying attention, obviously, to what is happening there,
00:31and we'll be ready for that if it were to occur here for the Army 250.
00:35Next.
00:45Hi, Hassan Conner with Politico.
00:46Just to kind of follow up on that, what have you guys been expecting or discussing
00:50in terms of whether we see a similar deployment of federal troops,
00:53maybe perhaps the D.C. National Guard, as we've seen in California, in response to protests?
00:57So I'll just say we're not expecting it.
00:59We have no intelligence of that, you know, happening here.
01:03But if it does, we have the resources to handle it.
