The Book of Amos is one of the Twelve Minor Prophets in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) and the Christian Old Testament, delivering a powerful message of social justice, divine judgment, and the call for true righteousness. Amos, a shepherd and fig tree farmer from Tekoa in the Southern Kingdom of Judah, was called by God to prophesy to the Northern Kingdom of Israel during the reign of King Jeroboam II in the 8th century BCE. This was a time of great economic prosperity, military strength, and political stability, yet it was also marked by widespread social injustice, corruption, and religious hypocrisy.
The central theme of Amos is God’s concern for justice and righteousness, especially in how the wealthy and powerful oppress the poor and marginalized. Unlike other prophets who addressed primarily idolatry, Amos focuses on social ethics, condemning the exploitation of the vulnerable, dishonest trade practices, bribery, and the corruption of leadership. He declares that true worship is not about religious rituals and sacrifices but about living justly and upholding moral integrity, famously proclaiming, "Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream" (Amos 5:24).
The book begins with oracles against Israel’s neighbors, denouncing their violent and oppressive actions, but quickly shifts to Israel’s own sins, warning that their wealth and military strength will not save them from divine judgment. Amos announces that God will punish Israel by sending foreign invaders, a prophecy that later finds fulfillment in the Assyrian conquest of Israel in 722 BCE. His vision of destruction emphasizes that God holds all nations accountable for their actions, but He is especially demanding of His own people, who were given covenantal responsibility to uphold justice and righteousness.
Despite its harsh warnings, the Book of Amos ends with a message of hope, promising that after judgment, God will restore Israel, rebuild the ruins, and bring prosperity once again. This reflects a broader biblical theme that while sin leads to destruction, repentance and divine mercy ultimately lead to renewal.

00:00Amos. Chapter 1. The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning
00:10Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of
00:17Israel two years before the earthquake. And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter
00:25his voice from Jerusalem, and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of
00:32carnal shall wither. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus and for four
00:39I will not turn away the punishment thereof, because they have threshed Gilead with threshing
00:46instruments of iron. But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour
00:52the palaces of Ben-Hadad. I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant
00:59from the plain of Avon. And him that holdeth the scepter from the house of Eden, and the
01:05people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord. Thus saith the Lord, For
01:13three transgressions of Gaza, and for four I will not turn away the punishment thereof,
01:18because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom. But
01:25I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof, and I will
01:31cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the scepter from Ashkelon. And
01:38I will turn mine hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the
01:44Lord God. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four I will not turn away the
01:52punishment thereof, because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the
01:58brotherly covenant. But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces
02:05thereof. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for four I will not turn away the
02:13punishment thereof. Because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all
02:19pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever. But I will send a fire upon
02:27Timon, which shall devour the palaces of Basra. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of the
02:34children of Ammon, and for four I will not turn away the punishment thereof. Because they have ripped up
02:41the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border. But I will kindle a fire in
02:49the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a
02:56tempest in the day of the whirlwind. And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together,
03:03saith the Lord. Chapter 2. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for four I will
03:13not turn away the punishment thereof. Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.
03:20But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth, and Moab shall die
03:27with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And I will cut off the judge from the
03:33midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the Lord. Thus saith the
03:40Lord, For three transgressions of Judah, and for four I will not turn away the punishment thereof.
03:47Because they have despised the law of the Lord, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies
03:54caused them to err, after that which their fathers have walked. But I will send a fire upon Judah,
04:01and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel,
04:09and for four I will not turn away the punishment thereof. Because they sold the righteous for silver,
04:16and the poor for a pair of shoes, that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor,
04:23and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father will go in unto the same maid,
04:31to profane my holy name. And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar,
04:39and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.
04:43Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars,
04:51and he was strong as the oaks. Yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
04:59Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness,
05:05to possess the land of the Amorite. And I raised up of your sons for prophets,
05:11and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord?
05:19But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
05:25Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
05:33Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force,
05:38neither shall the mighty deliver himself. Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow,
05:45and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself, neither shall he that rideth the horse
05:50deliver himself. And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day,
05:58saith the Lord. Chapter 3
06:01Hear this word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family
06:09which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, You only have I known of all the families of the
06:16earth. Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. Can two walk together except they be
06:23agreed? Will a lion roar in the forest when he hath no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den
06:31if he have taken nothing? Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth where no gin is for him?
06:39Shall one take up a snare from the earth and have taken nothing at all? Shall a trumpet be blown in
06:45the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?
06:53Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
07:00The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
07:08Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say,
07:15Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof,
07:22and the oppressed in the midst thereof. For they know not to do right, saith the Lord,
07:28who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
07:31Therefore thus saith the Lord God, and adversary there shall be even round about the land,
07:39and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
07:45Thus saith the Lord, As the shepherd taketh out of a mouth of a lion two legs or a piece of an ear,
07:52so shall the children of Israel be taken out, that dwell in Samaria, in the corner of a bed,
07:59and in Damascus in a couch.
08:03Hear ye and testify, in the house of Jacob saith the Lord God, the God of hosts,
08:10that in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him,
08:15I will also visit the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altars shall be cut off,
08:21and fall to the ground. And I will smite the winter house with the summer house,
08:26and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the Lord.
08:34Chapter 4
08:35Hear this word, ye kind of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria,
08:42which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters,
08:46bring, and let us drink. The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that lo,
08:53the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
09:01And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her,
09:06and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the Lord.
09:09Come to Bethel, and transgress. At Gilgal multiply transgression,
09:16and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years,
09:21and offer a sacrifice, and offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven,
09:27and proclaim and publish the free offerings.
09:30For this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord God.
09:36And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
09:41and want of bread in all your places.
09:44Yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
09:50And also have I withholden the rain from you,
09:54when there were yet three months to the harvest,
09:57and I caused it to rain upon one city,
10:00and caused it not to rain upon another city.
10:03One piece was rained upon,
10:05and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
10:08So two or three cities wandered unto one city,
10:13to drink water, but they were not satisfied.
10:16Yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
10:20I have smitten you with blasting and mildew,
10:23when your gardens, and your vineyards, and your fig trees,
10:27and your olive trees increased,
10:29the palmer worm devoured them.
10:31Yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
10:36I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt.
10:40Your young men have I slain with a sword,
10:43and have taken away your horses,
10:46and I have made the stink of your camps
10:48to come up unto your nostrils.
10:50Yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
10:56I have overthrown some of you,
10:59as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
11:02and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning.
11:06Yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.
11:10Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel,
11:13and because I will do this unto thee,
11:16prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
11:20For lo, he that formeth the mountains,
11:24and created the wind,
11:26and declared unto man what is his thought,
11:30that maketh the morning darkness,
11:32and treadeth upon the high places of the earth,
11:35the Lord, the God of hosts, is his name.
11:41Chapter 5
11:43Hear ye this word which I take up against you,
11:47even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
11:50The virgin of Israel is fallen,
11:53she shall no more rise.
11:56She is forsaken upon her land,
11:59there is none to raise her up.
12:01For thus saith the Lord God,
12:03the city that went out by a thousand
12:05shall leave an hundred,
12:07and that which went forth by an hundred
12:09shall leave ten to the house of Israel.
12:12For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel,
12:15Seek ye me, and ye shall live.
12:19But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal,
12:23and pass not to Beersheba.
12:25For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity,
12:28and Bethel shall come to naught.
12:30Seek the Lord, and ye shall live,
12:34lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph,
12:37and devour it,
12:38and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
12:42Ye who turn judgment to Wormwood,
12:45and leave off righteousness in the earth,
12:47seek him that maketh the seven stars,
12:50and Orion,
12:51and turneth the shadow of death into the morning,
12:54and maketh the day dark with night,
12:57that calleth for the waters of the sea,
12:59and poureth them out upon the face of the earth.
13:03The Lord is his name.
13:05That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong,
13:09so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
13:12They hate him that rebuketh in the gate,
13:16and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
13:20Forasmuch, therefore, as your treading is upon the poor,
13:23and ye take from him burdens of wheat,
13:26ye have built houses of hewn stone,
13:28but ye shall not dwell in them.
13:30Ye have planted pleasant vineyards,
13:33but ye shall not drink wine of them.
13:35For I know your manifold transgressions,
13:37and your mighty sins.
13:40They afflict the just,
13:42they take a bribe,
13:43and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13:47Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time,
13:50for it is an evil time.
13:53Seek good and not evil,
13:55that ye may live,
13:57and so the Lord, the God of hosts,
13:59shall be with you as ye have spoken.
14:02Hate the evil,
14:03and love the good,
14:04and establish judgment in the gate.
14:07It may be that the Lord God of hosts
14:09will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
14:13Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts,
14:16the Lord saith thus,
14:18Wailing shall be in all streets,
14:20and they shall say in all the highways,
14:23Alas, alas,
14:24and they shall call the husbandmen to mourning,
14:27and such as are skillful of lamentation to wailing.
14:31And in all vineyards shall be wailing,
14:33For I will pass through thee, saith the Lord.
14:37Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord!
14:40To what end is it for you?
14:43The day of the Lord is darkness and not light.
14:46As if a man did flee from a lion,
14:49and a bear met him,
14:51or went into the house,
14:52and leaned his hand on the wall,
14:54and a serpent bit him.
14:55Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness and not light,
15:00even very dark,
15:01and no brightness in it?
15:03I hate, I despise your feast days,
15:07and will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
15:11Though ye offer me burnt offerings,
15:13and your meat offerings,
15:15I will not accept them,
15:17neither will I regard the peace offerings
15:19of your fat beasts.
15:22Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs,
15:25for I will not hear the melody of thy vials.
15:29But let judgment run down as waters,
15:33and righteousness as a mighty stream.
15:36Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings
15:39in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
15:43But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch,
15:46and Cain your images,
15:49the star of your God,
15:51which ye made to yourselves.
15:53Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity
15:57beyond Damascus, saith the Lord,
15:59whose name is the Lord of hosts.
16:03Chapter 6
16:04Woe to them that are at ease in Zion,
16:08and trust in the mountain of Samaria,
16:10which are named chief of the nations,
16:12to whom the house of Israel came.
16:16Pass ye unto Calni,
16:19and see,
16:20from thence go ye to Hamath the Great,
16:23then go down to Gath of the Philistines,
16:26be they better than these kingdoms,
16:28or their border greater than your border.
16:32Ye that put far away the evil day,
16:35and cause this seat of violence to come near,
16:38that lie upon beds of ivory,
16:40and stretch yourselves upon their couches,
16:42and eat the lambs out of the flock,
16:44and the cabs out of the midst of the stall,
16:47that chant to the sound of the vial,
16:50and invent to themselves instruments of music like David,
16:54that drink wine in bowls,
16:56and anoint yourselves with the chief ointments.
16:59But they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
17:03Therefore now shall they go captive,
17:06with the first that go captive,
17:08and the banquet of them that stretch themselves shall be removed.
17:13The Lord God hath sworn by himself,
17:16saith the Lord,
17:16the God of hosts,
17:18I abhor the excellency of Jacob,
17:21and hate his palaces.
17:23Therefore will I deliver up the city
17:25with all that is therein.
17:27And it shall come to pass,
17:29if there remain ten men in one house,
17:32that they shall die.
17:34And a man's uncle shall take him up,
17:36and he that burneth him
17:38to bring out the bones out of the house,
17:40and shall say unto him
17:42that is by the sides of the house,
17:44Is there yet any with thee?
17:46And he shall say,
17:47No.
17:49Then shall he say,
17:50Hold thy tongue,
17:52for we may not make mention
17:53of the name of the Lord.
17:56For behold,
17:57the Lord commandeth,
17:58and he will smite the great house
18:00with breeches,
18:01and the little house with clefts.
18:04Shall horses run upon the rock?
18:06Will one plough there with oxen?
18:09For ye have turned judgment into gall,
18:12and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock.
18:16Ye which rejoice in a thing of naught,
18:18which say,
18:19Have we not taken to us horns
18:21by our own strength?
18:22But behold,
18:23I will raise up against you a nation,
18:26O house of Israel,
18:27saith the Lord,
18:28the God of hosts,
18:29and they shall afflict you
18:31from the entering in of Hemath
18:33unto the river of the wilderness.
18:37Chapter 7
18:38Thus hath the Lord God showed unto me,
18:41and behold,
18:42he formed grasshoppers
18:43in the beginning
18:44of the shooting up of the latter growth.
18:46And lo,
18:47it was the latter growth
18:48after the king's mowings.
18:50And it came to pass,
18:52that when they had made an end
18:53of eating the grass of the land,
18:55then I said,
18:56O Lord God,
18:57forgive I beseech thee,
18:59by whom shall Jacob arise,
19:02for he is small.
19:03The Lord repented for this,
19:06it shall not be,
19:07saith the Lord.
19:09Thus hath the Lord God showed unto me,
19:11and behold,
19:12the Lord God called to contend by fire,
19:16and devoured the great deep,
19:18and did eat up a part.
19:20Then said I,
19:21O Lord God,
19:22cease,
19:23I beseech thee.
19:24By whom shall Jacob arise,
19:27for he is small.
19:29The Lord repented for this,
19:31this also shall not be,
19:33saith the Lord God.
19:35Thus he showed me,
19:36and behold,
19:37the Lord stood upon a wall,
19:39made by a plumb line,
19:41with a plumb line in his hand.
19:43And the Lord said unto me,
19:45Amos,
19:45what seest thou?
19:47And I said a plumb line.
19:49Then said the Lord,
19:50Behold,
19:51I will set a plumb line
19:53in the midst of my people Israel,
19:55I will not again pass by them any more.
19:59And the high places of Isaac
20:00shall be desolate,
20:02and the sanctuaries of Israel
20:04shall be laid waste,
20:05and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam
20:08with the sword.
20:10Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel
20:12went to Jeroboam king of Israel,
20:15saying,
20:15Amos hath conspired against thee
20:18in the midst of the house of Israel.
20:20The lamb is not able to bear all his words.
20:24For thus Amos saith,
20:25Jeroboam shall die by the sword,
20:28and Israel shall surely be led away captive
20:31out of their own land.
20:33Also Amaziah said unto Amos,
20:36O thou seer,
20:37go,
20:37flee thee away into the land of Judah,
20:40and there eat bread,
20:41and prophesy there.
20:43But prophesy not again any more at Bethel,
20:47for it is the king's chapel,
20:48and it is the king's court.
20:51Then answered Amos,
20:52and said to Amaziah,
20:54I was no prophet,
20:56neither was I a prophet's son,
20:58but I was an herdman,
21:00and a gatherer of sycamore fruit.
21:02And the Lord took me as I followed the flock,
21:05and the Lord said unto me,
21:07Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
21:11Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord.
21:14Thou sayest,
21:16Prophesy not against Israel,
21:18and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
21:21Therefore thus saith the Lord,
21:24Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city,
21:26and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword,
21:30and thy land shall be divided by line,
21:33and thou shalt die in a polluted land,
21:36and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
21:42Chapter 8
21:44Thus hath the Lord God showed unto me,
21:47and behold a basket of summer fruit.
21:51And he said,
21:52Amos, what seest thou?
21:54And I said,
21:55A basket of summer fruit.
21:57Then said the Lord unto me,
21:59The end is come upon my people of Israel.
22:02I will not again pass by them any more.
22:05And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day,
22:08saith the Lord God.
22:10There shall be many dead bodies in every place.
22:13They shall cast them forth with silence.
22:17Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy,
22:19even to make the poor of the land to fail,
22:22saying,
22:23When will the new moon be gone,
22:25that we may sell corn,
22:27and the Sabbath,
22:28that we may set forth wheat,
22:30making the ephah small,
22:32and the shekel great,
22:33and falsifying the balances by deceit.
22:36That we may buy the poor for silver,
22:39and the needy for a pair of shoes,
22:41yea,
22:42and sell the refuse of the wheat.
22:45The Lord hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob,
22:48Surely I will never forget any of their works.
22:52Shall not the land tremble for this,
22:55and every one mourn that dwelleth therein?
22:58And it shall rise up wholly as a flood,
23:01and it shall be cast out and drowned,
23:03as by the flood of Egypt.
23:06And it shall come to pass in that day,
23:08saith the Lord God,
23:09that I will cause the sun to go down at noon,
23:13and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
23:16And I will turn your feasts into mourning,
23:19and all your songs into lamentation,
23:22and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins,
23:25and baldness upon every head.
23:27And I will make it as the mourning of an only son,
23:31and the end thereof is a bitter day.
23:34Behold the days come, saith the Lord God,
23:37that I will send a famine in the land,
23:40not a famine of bread,
23:42nor a thirst for water,
23:44but of hearing the words of the Lord.
23:47And they shall wander from sea to sea,
23:50and from the north even to the east,
23:53they shall run to and fro
23:55to seek the word of the Lord,
23:57and shall not find it.
23:59In that day shall the fair virgins
24:02and young men faint for thirst.
24:05They that swear by the sin of Samaria,
24:08and say,
24:09Thy God Odan liveth,
24:12and the manner of Beersheba liveth,
24:15even they shall fall,
24:17and never rise up again.
24:20Chapter 9
24:21I saw the Lord standing upon the altar,
24:25and he said,
24:26Smite the lintel of the door,
24:28that the posts may shake.
24:30And cut them in the head,
24:32all of them,
24:33and I will slay the last of them with the sword.
24:36He that fleeth of them shall not flee away,
24:39and he that escapeth of them
24:40shall not be delivered.
24:43Though they dig into hell,
24:45thence shall mine hand take them.
24:48Though they climb up to heaven,
24:50thence will I bring them down.
24:52And though they hide themselves
24:54in the top of carnal,
24:55I will search and take them out thence.
24:58And though they be hid from my sight
25:00in the bottom of the sea,
25:02thence will I command the serpent,
25:04and he shall bite them.
25:06And though they go into captivity
25:08before their enemies,
25:10thence will I command the sword,
25:12and it shall slay them.
25:14And I will set mine eyes upon them
25:16for evil and not for good.
25:18And the Lord God of hosts
25:21is he that toucheth the land,
25:23and it shall melt,
25:24and all that dwell therein shall mourn.
25:27And it shall rise up wholly like a flood,
25:30and shall be drowned
25:31as by the flood of Egypt.
25:34It is he that buildeth his stories
25:37in the heaven,
25:38and hath founded his troop in the earth.
25:41He that calleth for the waters of the sea,
25:43and poureth them out
25:45upon the face of the earth.
25:47The Lord is his name.
25:50Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians
25:52unto the O children of Israel,
25:54saith the Lord?
25:56Have not I brought up Israel
25:58out of the land of Egypt,
26:00and the Philistines from Kaphtor,
26:02and the Syrians from Kir?
26:05Behold, the eyes of the Lord God
26:08are upon the sinful kingdom,
26:10and I will destroy it
26:11from off the face of the earth,
26:13saving that I will not utterly destroy
26:16the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.
26:18For lo, I will command,
26:20and I will sift the house of Israel
26:22among all nations,
26:24like as corn is sifted in a sieve,
26:27yet shall not the least grain
26:29fall upon the earth.
26:31All the sinners of my people
26:33shall die by the sword,
26:35which say,
26:36The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
26:39In that day will I raise up
26:41the tabernacle of David
26:43that is fallen,
26:44and close up the breaches thereof,
26:47and I will raise up his ruins,
26:49and I will build it
26:50as in the days of old,
26:52that they may possess
26:54the remnant of Edom.
26:57And of all the heathen
26:58which are called by my name,
27:00saith the Lord that doeth this.
27:02Behold, the days come,
27:04saith the Lord,
27:05that the plowman
27:06shall overtake the reaper
27:07and the treader of grapes
27:09him that soweth seed.
27:11And the mountains shall drop sweet wine,
27:13and all the hills shall melt.
27:16And I will bring again
27:17the captivity of my people of Israel,
27:20and they shall build the waste cities
27:22and inhabit them,
27:23and they shall plant vineyards
27:25and drink the wine thereof.
27:28They shall also make gardens
27:30and eat the fruit of them,
27:32and I will plant them upon their land,
27:35and they shall no more
27:36be pulled up out of their land
27:38which I have given them,
27:40saith the Lord thy God.
