Mumbai (Maharashtra), June 6, 2025 (ANI): At the launch of Indian Cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara's wife Puja Pujara's book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife', Indian Cricketer Rohit Sharma, says "...Since day one, my father has been a test cricket fan. He doesn't like this new age cricket. I still remember the day I scored 264 runs in an ODI. He was like, well played. There was no such excitement from him. But even if I get used to get 50-60 runs in Test cricket, he used to talk to me about it in detail. That's the kind of love he had for the game...My father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with the red ball. He was a little disappointed when I announced the retirement..."

00:00We work in a transport company and like I said, what my mom did, my father was very much involved in sacrificing things so that we can have our life.
00:17But my father always, since day one, has been trying no test ticket, doesn't like this U.S. ticket, and the way I still remember that the I support 464 in ODI, he was like, okay, well played, well done.
00:36There was no excitement from him playing game, he was not supportive of it and all of that, but even if I used to get good firties or a forties or a fifties or a sixties, in test ticket he used to talk to me about it in detail.
00:51So that's the kind of love he had for the game, and he's obviously seen, you know, how, you know, you go off the ranks, you play A school cricket, you play A, then you pass on to under 19, and then you go to a hundred trophies, a hundred trophies, a hundred trophies, India A, and I've done all of that.
01:17So he is seeing my journey through that, and through this, I have made it to the Indian team, playing red ball cricket, not so much of white ball cricket, but that's how the team used to get picked back in the day, you do well in red ball cricket, and you find yourself first in ODI cricket, and then you do test cricket.
01:38Now it's a different story, but back in the day it was like that, so my father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with red ball obviously, so he appreciates red ball cricket a lot, and then obviously was a little disappointed when I announced the tournament, but was happy as well at the same time.
02:02But yeah, that's my father, and that's my father, and he has obviously been useful in wherever I am today, you know, without their help, I don't know who I am possibly.
02:16I am possibly.
