CEO of Fanatics Michael Rubin joins! What was it like being in the suite with the Kraft's during SB 51? Who left early? Rubin talks the White Party!
Transcript
00:00Michael, I am envious of many things. You've done very well for yourself, but I am most jealous that you were, by happenstance and friendship, in the suite, with the Crafts, during Super Bowl 51.
00:15What was that night like for you? How many people left early, if anyone? And just walk me through how that night transpired, because it's fascinating to me.
00:26So, I'll tell you, I have had the fortune, I've been very lucky to get to be around a lot of incredible moments in my life.
00:35That will go down, I think, as one of the top, I'd say I have two or three really surreal moments.
00:42The other one was, by the way, watching Meek Mill get released when the Supreme Court came in and ordered the release from him from prison.
00:48We flew him to a Sixers game and actually ended the series to go to the next round of the playoffs.
00:52That was a big one as well. But I'd say probably nothing was more surreal than halftime of that game and everyone saying the game's over.
01:01Yes, a lot of people left that game. I'd say the suite was half empty at halftime or by the third quarter.
01:07And I remember saying to everybody, this game's not over. You got Tom Brady. Like, what are you guys saying?
01:13You know, it was 21-3 and then obviously went down 28-3. I'm like, all right, this may be over.
01:18Like, this isn't good. And then obviously having to honor sitting next to, you know, Jonathan and Robert Kraft and watching that comeback and just like,
01:27it was one of the most nervous moments in my life because once you thought they could really do it, you're like, are they going to do it?
01:33And now having listened to Tom tell the story so many times of like what went through in his head and how the comeback actually happened,
01:39without question, probably number one most surreal moment in my life.
01:43I remember running down to the field. He just like, he didn't think the whole thing was real and absolutely incredible.
01:48Yes, half the box left. They must have all been bad luck. So we were glad to get rid of them.
01:54Robert would never say that. I would. A lot of my friends left the game.
01:58And you know what? That shows you nothing's over until it's mathematically over.
02:02And don't ever bet against Tom Brady. Don't ever bet against the New England Patriots.
02:05And don't ever bet against the good energy that was in that box that night.
02:11All 50 people in the suite that day on the guest list for the white party.
02:15But Wiggy can't get on there. No room.
02:17That's all right. That's all right. I got a question for Mike.
02:19I spent a lot of...
02:20Wiggy could be ahead of a lot of the people in that suite.
02:24I mean, I don't think any... That suite, I think the only person coming to the white party is Robert Kraft
02:28and Dana, his wife. That's it.
02:30And I will tell you, Robert makes an impressive show.
02:32He comes early. We start at five o'clock. He stays late.
02:35You know, we keep until like, you know, one, two o'clock in the morning.
02:39And then the young guys take over and keep going hard.
02:42Have you seen the new elevator at the Kraft home in the Hamptons?
02:53I actually have seen that.
