00:00Oh, Ken Sterling is our main man in the great Hoosier state.
00:04And I'm a Hoosier, believe it or not.
00:06Not only did I grow up in Indiana, I went to Indiana.
00:09So I have rights here.
00:11I have say in this.
00:14And I believe that Ken is the man.
00:16And anyone that wants to dispute that, we can get together and I'll hit you in the face,
00:21the palm of my hand, even with my broken thumb.
00:25So Ken is on mornings in Bloomington at 98.7 GCL.
00:30And he's the voice of everything in Indianapolis as well for us in terms of sports with the
00:35Colts and the Pacers, et cetera.
00:37I have to start, though, believe it or not, not with the Pacers, who I have been on for
00:45since the jump.
00:47I took them at 13 to one to win the Eastern Conference.
00:49I believed in the Pacers to beat the Knicks without provocation, easy money.
00:54And I beat them every night the whole way.
00:56It was Pacers, Pacers, Pacers.
00:58I bet on the Knicks in game five because you knew they'd play 48 minutes for the first
01:03time all year.
01:04But game six, I was all Indian.
01:06I won all the money every day.
01:08And the Pacers are in the finals.
01:09We'll get to that in a minute.
01:10I cannot believe the story coming out of Bloomington about this perv doctor and these accusations
01:20of at least 15 players that said this guy raped them.
01:28And this is Larry Nassar 2.0 with this Bamba guy, allegedly, who is dead.
01:38So they waited.
01:39They investigated him and found nothing.
01:41And the guy's dead now.
01:43But now all of it's coming out that he was allegedly involved in some really bad behavior
01:50with basketball players at Indiana University.
01:52I'm talking big name guys that are saying he raped them.
01:58He gave them prostate exams.
02:00And you can argue whether a prostate exam is a necessary medical procedure, a part of
02:07a medical exam is a 22-year-old kid.
02:11But let me ask you, because you're aware of Bob Knight and Brad Bamba, they were close.
02:18Is it more likely that this was for sexual gratification?
02:22Or is it more likely that Bob Knight and Brad Bamba got together and said, you know what?
02:27We got to show these kids who's boss.
02:29Give them a real examination.
02:31You know, I don't think this was a prank.
02:35I think it was a really bad prank and an ongoing prank.
02:38But I don't, I've heard nothing to suggest that Dr. Brad Bamba derived any kind of sexual
02:46gratification from anything that he did during his years and years and years and years being
02:52the team physician.
02:54Well, I mean, how many people have to complain while he was there that they were being treated
03:00inappropriately and sexually violated before they listened?
03:05Now, the funny thing is, because, you know, I'm the biggest Bob Knight guy on the face
03:08of the earth.
03:09There's no one I respected more in my entire career.
03:14And I did five years with him every day.
03:17And I took his abuse.
03:18And I, I mean, to tell you, I paid the price for being around Bob Knight, but I loved him
03:23and he was friends with me for 40 years.
03:25And he came on my show forever.
03:27But I got to tell you, I am creeped out.
03:30I just had to be honest about Garl.
03:33Tim Garl was the trainer.
03:35He was the head trainer there for 45 years.
03:38And there are stories that they were joking around like this was funny.
03:43Knight and Garl and all of them allegedly.
03:46And now they fired Garl this year.
03:48I guarantee you why they fired him because of this.
03:50Yeah, and Tim Garl has been a guy that you even people who know him really, really well
03:58can't get him to talk about things.
04:01He is a very buttoned up guy who is taking kind of, I don't know whether they're secrets,
04:07but whatever he knows, he's taken it to his grave.
04:10You know, he has not been in the media ever talking about anything to do with Bob Knight
04:16or Indiana basketball.
04:17But I don't know, like with Bob Knight being gone, with Dr. Brad Bamba being gone, with
04:24Garl no longer being tethered to the university, I don't know what we're going to learn about
04:28this.
04:29And so, I mean, if you had some kind of a smoking gun, I can't tell whether, and you're
04:39kind of a cynical guy.
04:40I'm a cynical guy.
04:42Is this a cash grab by former players who see an opportunity to go get the university
04:47to write them checks?
04:48Or is this a valid complaint about emotional and physical harm done to them while they
04:53were student athletes at Indiana?
04:54I don't know who to trust in this thing.
04:57Okay, well, let me tell you something.
04:59From my experience, guys don't come out of the woods to brag about being fondled in their
05:04back doors, about being raped or being sexually assaulted ever, anywhere, ever for a money grab.
05:11Guys won't even say it happened to them.
05:13You have hockey players all over the minor leagues that have said they've been sexually
05:18assaulted.
05:18They don't want to admit to it to anybody.
05:21Let's talk about the Pacers.
05:23Are you on the Pacers here against the Thunder?
05:26You have been a Pacer believer from day one.
05:28Do you seriously think they can beat this team?
05:30Because I don't.
05:32And I've been on the Pacers all year.
05:33I think it's going to be really tough.
05:36And I think the matchup that drives the winner of this series and the NBA champion is going
05:41to be Halliburton trying to attack Dort.
05:44If Halliburton can stay aggressive, if he can put up more than 16 shots a game, the Pacers
05:49have a really good chance of winning this series.
05:52This is his opportunity to submit his status as a statue guy.
05:56He could have a statue.
05:57This would be the first NBA championship in the history of that franchise, and he can be
06:02the guy front and center to do it.
06:06Are you not worried about their defense, which is so unbelievable?
06:11And lastly, in this minute, respectfully, your thoughts on the passing of Ursae, who had
06:16his demons.
06:18But it's amazing to me how many people loved him after the fact.
06:23And seriously loved him.
06:25The mood at the Colts headquarters has been really, really dour since that announcement
06:32was made.
06:32And he had been in the building a whole lot the last two years.
06:35But those people genuinely loved him.
06:37And this community did, too.
06:38He did a lot kind of on the down low for the community.
06:41And now all those stories are kind of coming up.
06:44Jim wanted those kept quiet.
06:46And I think it's, to his credit, an interesting guy and I think actually a brilliant businessman.
06:52Yeah, it's crazy.
06:56He had a lot of demons.
06:58But gone too soon, for sure.
07:01He led a wild life with his rock and roll.
07:03And he had plenty of issues drinking and drugging.
07:07But gone now.
07:08And at least he won a Super Bowl for the Colts.
07:11Ken, I always love having you on.
07:13Enjoy the start of the NBA Finals.
07:15I was going to see you, my friend.
07:16I was going to see you, my friend.
