00:00I
00:30Hi, nice to see you. How are you doing?
00:33I'm good, thank you. Very well.
00:35This is all about mad, isn't it? But we're here.
00:37It's too much. It's all good.
00:39You must be used to this now, life of an actor, eh?
00:42Well, say that. Like, it never gets normal.
00:46No, I know. I work on the garbage as well and I'm like, it's never normal.
00:49It's always just chaos.
00:50Listen, you're so funny in this.
00:52Oh, thank you.
00:53This is so brilliant.
00:54Oh, thank you.
00:55As an actor, how fun was it to get to jump into this and play characters within characters
00:59and do all this improv?
01:00Oh, it was just an absolute joy.
01:03I mean, the script was just watertight.
01:05It was so funny, utterly bulletproof.
01:09Ben and Alex, who are over there, who wrote it, who I've known for years or adapted it.
01:14And, oh, they're so smart. It was an absolute no-brainer.
01:17I was so delighted to be involved.
01:19And the premise is so great and original, you know, that idea.
01:22And kind of weirdly simple as a premise, actually.
01:25But I think one of the best things is that it just manages to find that balance of action
01:30and comedy, which I think often pull apart and can be the detriment to each other.
01:34But actually, it somehow manages to have that dance and work on both ways.
01:38So the action bits feel thrilling.
01:40The comedy bits feel funny.
01:42And so, yeah.
01:43Do you do your own stunts?
01:44That's the real thing.
01:45I did.
01:46I did do my own.
01:47The only one I didn't do was I didn't cycle into Camden Lock.
01:49As in, I cycled up until the point that I fall into the water.
01:52I was thinking this because I was watching it.
01:54But I was up for it, but it was an insurance thing.
01:56Yes, you would be not very well coming out of that water.
01:58But everything else I did, including cycling down the stairs.
02:01Check.
02:02Yeah, I love that.
02:03Listen, my favourite scenes are the sort of ensemble ones where you've got Ian, Paddy, yourself, Orlando, Bryce all together.
02:09I mean, how electric was filming those?
02:11Oh, amazing.
02:12And also, like, I've kind of, not grown up because I'm, you know, I'm not young.
02:16But I've kind of, I've looked at these, watched these actors and I'm just sort of constantly kind of inspired by them anyway.
02:23So to actually get to meet them and to work with them was just incredible.
02:26But how did you actually get through making this film?
02:28Because were you not just bursting out laughing constantly?
02:31We were, but I think we were also, it's a really intense shoot, a lot of night shoots.
02:35We were only filming for a couple of months, so it was sort of, it was relatively quick.
02:39And, you know, it was pretty much an independent film budget.
02:43So we were, we were up against it a lot of the time, but it was so much fun.
02:46I mean, we loved it.
02:48Amazing. Well, I'll let you get on.
02:49I think that announcement there was just for you.
02:51They were like, where is, where is Nick? Get him in.
02:53Oh, I don't know what time it, oh, what time does it start?
02:57Oh, why didn't you?
02:58I actually don't know.
02:59You're fine.
03:01You'll be looked after, don't worry.
03:02Nice to see you.
03:03Thank you so much.
03:04I can do it.
03:05You literally just took a video.
03:07Yeah.
03:08You just layered the two videos.
03:09Yeah.
03:10And then.
03:11So you'll take a bit of.
03:12Of course, I'll just switch.
03:17Yeah.
03:18Yeah.
03:19I'll crap it.
03:20And then everyone will be like, oh great, I can feel the really cool.
03:24Yeah, yeah.
03:25Be like, I actually love, but to be honest.
03:30I'm really fucking crazy.
03:32Why were you touching my back just now?
03:45Just in a sort of fun way.
03:47Sort of, hello.
03:48Oh, okay.
03:49This is a bond.
03:50We've been hanging out all day.
03:51Was it like this instantly?
03:53Was it an instant bond?
03:54No, no.
03:55I first met him when we were students and I didn't like him at all.
03:59But he worked his way on me.
04:02And here we are.
04:03I ground him down.
04:04You ground me down.
04:05And now, 15 years later, he's finally cracked.
04:07And agreed to write a film with you, yeah.
04:09It was worth it.
04:10Yeah.
04:11But listen, you make a good duel now and that's all that matters.
04:14You're great in the film.
04:15What was it like playing the two characters, their funny relationship and then also getting
04:19to do all the improv?
04:21Well, it was a lot of fun.
04:22I mean, obviously our characters, I take it too seriously and he doesn't take it seriously
04:26enough, which is probably the inverse of our actual professional relationship.
04:30So it's fun to, it's a bit of tourism.
04:33It was great.
04:34I suppose like, I almost forgot that we were in it because we sort of were shooting for
04:38like maybe 10 days or something and we were, because of Tom, our director was so generous
04:42with saying like, yeah, please be on set every day.
04:45We'd love to have you there as the writers contributing, giving input.
04:48We were there all the time.
04:49And then it was like, oh, tomorrow, hang on.
04:51We're, yeah, we're in this tomorrow.
04:53Hang on, what are we doing again?
04:54So I almost forgot.
04:55I was like, so it was a quite surreal feeling to then actually step into the world, having
04:59just been watching it on the monitors, but really thrilled that we did get to be a part
05:03of it because, you know, we are writer performers, I guess.
05:07That is our background performing on stage and our Radio 4 show we did for years.
05:11So to actually sort of put that into a film felt like a lovely moment for us.
05:16What was it like getting a front row seat then to all the action?
05:18I mean, the ensemble scenes are amazing when you've got Paddy, Bryce, Orlando, Ian McShane,
05:23like all of them together.
05:24How cool was it watching that?
05:25Incredible.
05:26I mean, even on days when we knew we had really nothing to contribute as writers, we would come
05:29anywhere just in case, because it was so fun to watch them.
05:32Even if there was a scene where Sean Bean's just sitting down on a chair, I'd come along just
05:35in case anyone got any rewrites to do about the chair, different type of chair.
05:40It was a real privilege.
05:41But how did you actually get through making this film?
05:44Because you're not just laughing constantly.
05:46Yeah, it's really frowned upon to laugh mid-scene, so sometimes we'd have to stay quite
05:50well away from the actual actors.
05:52I think I was very impressed, you know, the main actors, they did a very good job.
05:57I think a lot of the time everyone was like on the same page that the characters don't
06:03know that anything funny is happening, they're in a life or death situation in the criminal
06:07underworld.
06:08And I think everyone was very good at channelling, playing the reality of it, which
06:12always felt really important creatively.
06:14And you're professionals at the end of the day, this is what you do, do you know what
06:17I mean?
06:18You've said it.
06:19I wasn't going to say it, you've said it.
06:20I've said it.
06:21It's been lovely to meet you both.
06:22Thank you so much.
06:23Enjoy tonight.
07:04Any Combo, we're doing great.
07:06How does it work?
07:07You areVERA.
07:09You areふふ.
07:11Alyx.
07:12Yeah, I know.
07:13He's really arrived.
07:14Yeah.
07:15It feels really fun for me.
07:16PHP City.
07:17Yeah.
07:18Today we're getting into after we watched the first 2nd.
07:20The first 3rd.
07:21Yeah.
07:22We did.
07:24Stepping.
07:25I'm already hon pá Of.
07:26Yeah.
07:27Growers.
07:28One day.
07:29This is mad.
07:31hi Orlando how are you doing nice to see you by the way absolutely love you got a lotus flower
07:44on your arm that's cool you noticed it thank you I've actually got one in my hip as well
07:48but that one's hidden have you got one not a lot that's a nice one thank you very much I'm so glad
07:52you noticed that I actually got it at an event and I was about past oh there we go oh there you go
07:57good choice Manchester accent oh thanks did I do okay I actually thought it was Liam Gallagher
08:02I was like this could be oasis that's who I was channeling thank you very much playing a character
08:09and then multiple characters within that character so fun I mean it's I think the script you know was
08:15so well executed and the and the premise was so fantastic you know it sort of does what it says
08:21on the tin or on the pizza box um that you know it's like um it was just like a yes and
08:27pardon the puns but it really was it's like um it's a funny concept it's a funny premise
08:33and the script was so well done that all we really needed to do was you know commit commit commit commit
08:40and Marlon's written and to be that guy who takes himself too seriously I've never done that taking
08:47myself too seriously I just don't do that but um you know and we had this amazing support cast you
08:53know like Sonoya just breezed past um Ian McShane you know Sean of course Sean Bean Hattie Constantine
09:02amazing Ian McShane so you know like we're really wheeling out some of the grapes um from you know
09:08British film and TV and it's you know it sort of does what it says on the tin I think in it or on
09:14the pizza box as I like to say on the pizza box I thought my accent might give you some Ian McShane
09:18related I feel it I'm feeling it deep deep deep cover yeah it's good but how amazing is it considering
09:24everything that you've done in your career that you can do something like this and just have total fun
09:29I mean that's sort of what I'm doing with my career now I'm like you know I sort of make choices
09:35based on life's a little short you don't want to work with a lot of ego and you just want to have a
09:41good time and you know commit 100% so you know weirdly like it was a comedy where I got to play
09:47a character who goes deep in and takes himself very seriously so that was like and that was the fun
09:53you know that was the funny and also opportunity to sort of you know dig in which and I like that
09:59I'm not like method per se but I'm like I always like commit 110% I think we're a we're a group on set
10:05we're collaborative and we need to all support one another so that sort of method idea gets banded
10:10around and it can be misconstrued but I think when you kind of commit 100% you kind of deliver
10:15hopefully deliver something that's entertaining amazing well thank you so much I loved it I better
