00:12I mean, for me, he's just sort of endless fun, you know, he's a really fun character
00:18to play because I'm allowed to be as irreverent as I want, as stupid as I want, you know.
00:24I have such fond memories of making the first three films and, you know, they were such an important part
00:31of my career and my life, really.
00:33So I was initially kind of wondering how they would introduce me back into the franchise and it seemed the
00:41perfect way.
00:41You know, I bookend the film, I'm there at the beginning and send my son off on a journey to
00:45do what I did through the first three films,
00:47which is to reconnect, you know, sort of mirroring that father-son story and I think it plays really well
00:53for the film.
00:53I think the quality of their movies, it's pretty amazing.
00:56Also the talent involved, Geoffrey Rush, Rondo, Johnny, to work with those guys, it's to work with some of the
01:03best actors out there.
01:04So, as they say, it's a no-brainer.
01:09Each time out, it's always something new, you know, between Geoffrey and I.
01:13Geoffrey Rush, whose character Barbossa and my character are like sort of a husband and wife team.
01:20They just don't, you know, they sort of bicker at each other, yeah.
01:23The first movie was arguably one of the favorites, you know.
01:27I think that people will respond similarly to this film.
01:30I think this will, you know, will bring back some of that similar narrative from the first film
01:36and excite the imagination in that way with a sort of simpler story, but all the amazing visual effects
01:42and, of course, Johnny doing what Johnny does so well.
01:44Facing Jack Sparrow was fun because you have to really bring your back into the fiction
01:50because sometimes I was watching him, watching Johnny doing it, and I lost my lines
01:55because I enjoy so much seeing him, seeing him doing it that I forgot I have to say my lines.
02:02I think what Javier has done with the character is amazing because he's taken this villain,
02:09let's say, this villain, but then you see the sort of, you feel the birth of that villain, you know,
02:17you see how it happened, and somehow he amazingly makes you feel for that character, you know.
02:22You have empathy for him, you know.
