00:00There is no doubt artificial intelligence is no longer a thing of the future.
00:04AI is here now and it is here to stay.
00:07And the folks over at Glance AI may be a good way to get familiar with the technology
00:11as it tries to help you style and curate your outfits based on your personal preferences
00:16and even your selfies.
00:17Joining us now to discuss more is Abe Singhal.
00:20He is the co-founder at Glance AI.
00:23Abe, really grateful for your time.
00:25So for any of our viewers, Abe, who might be a bit unfamiliar,
00:28what is Glance AI?
00:30What are you all about?
00:31And how are you seeking to redefine personal styling?
00:34Thank you for having us on your show, J.D.
00:38Glance AI is a very interesting take on how consumers can use the power of AI to style themselves.
00:48It starts with a simple experience where a consumer is asked to provide their selfie
00:53and a bit of information.
00:55And then our transformative large language model,
00:58which has been trained on millions and millions and millions of large transaction data,
01:05picks what the right outfit for you should be
01:08and how you could use that and mix that with different things.
01:13So it is a completely different take on how the shopping can actually start on the phone
01:22and on the TV, where we'll be live very soon.
01:26What was missing in the market that led to the founding or genesis of the company?
01:31You know, fundamentally, we think that the shopping for fashion or shopping for anything that is very visual in nature
01:43is fundamentally broken.
01:44Most of the time, how we look for our products, we actually start with a search bar and imagine describing a bohemian shirt with the yellow stripes into a search bar
01:57and then browsing through millions of different examples that will come with it.
02:02So we thought that actually shopping is a very visual experience
02:06and we wanted to replicate this entire window shopping experience with you as a consumer in the middle of it.
02:15So with the Gen AI, we want to have this entire world of products come on you
02:22rather than take you on to this worldwide journey and have you browse like tons of products.
02:28So take us through a typical user experience.
02:30Let's assume I'm signing up or engaging with the platform Abey for the first time.
02:36Soup to nuts.
02:37What does it look like?
02:38What can users expect?
02:40Absolutely.
02:40The users will be asked to provide one selfie or one image that they may have in their gallery
02:47and maybe answer a few questions like what's your hair type, what's your body type,
02:55do you want to have, do you have a father bod or what kind of a body type you have
03:00and maybe a couple of other questions about what are your brand preferences
03:03and with that, the AI goes and does its magic.
03:09We go back into our model that has been specially trained on the purchase data
03:14of millions and millions of consumers and we try to pick what the right product for you should be.
03:21So after a very small window of time, which at the moment is about three minutes,
03:27our product will come back and show you yourself in about 10 different outfits in 10 different settings.
03:35And then it will also show you different catalog, similar products.
03:42And you as a consumer are actually free to try on any of those products on you as well.
03:48So with that, and once you're satisfied that this is a particular product that you are happy,
03:53you can actually press the buy now button and that will actually take you to the merchant page
03:59with whom we have integrated and that merchant can actually fulfill and complete the shopping to you.
04:04So as you will see, the entire experience is starting with visual clue, not a text or not,
04:13we're not asking the users, are you looking for a pant or a shirt or a suit?
04:18Instead, we're asking, we're in fact giving users the choice on the basis of what we think
04:25the right thing for the consumer may be.
04:27Who are the other AI companies in the space that you are leveraging relationships with
04:34to build your own AI models?
04:36We have a very deep partnership with Google.
04:41We have our partnership with various different handset manufacturers.
04:48Like I'm very glad to announce our partnership with Samsung, who's going live with Glance AI,
04:55in which Glance AI will no longer only be available on Galaxy App Store.
04:59But we have a very special integration with Samsung, where consumers will be able to experience
05:05the Glance AI on their lock screen, on all Samsung devices in the United States.
05:10So we have a very extensive partnership with a number of different providers to power this
05:16Glance AI experience.
05:17There's a big conversation happening in the world of AI about so-called agentic artificial
05:26intelligence technology that not just thinks for itself, but acts for itself.
05:30I wonder how you envision future iterations of this technology, where things go maybe a step
05:38further and not just having the user determine for him or herself what the next steps are, but
05:43a true AI model that takes into all the amazing technologies you're talking about and basically
05:47automatically goes and does the shopping for the person.
05:51How far off are you from what seems to be industry-wide, sort of the next rapidly evolving iterations
05:57of the tech?
05:59Look, the technology is not very far from being able to do so.
06:04But great technology has to put user in control.
06:09We actually don't want to take the control away from the user.
06:11So finally, we want user to be the one who's pressing the button on whether they want to be
06:17buying that product or not, because what they buy and whom they buy it from depends on a
06:23lot of different factors, not only about your brand affinity, but the price, the return policies,
06:31the shipment delay, et cetera, et cetera.
06:34So while the AI can do everything on behalf of the consumer and bring a very curated experience
06:41to them, we actually want the final button to be pressed by the consumer in being able
06:47to pick and choose what they want to buy or not buy.
06:51The technology is not very far from being able to do so in a very seamless manner.
06:55How do you see the future of fashion and retail continuing to be disrupted by these technologies
07:02like artificial intelligence?
07:04We actually think that fashion is, or accessories for that matter, or anything that is very visual
07:12in nature, we believe that finally with the Gen AI, you have an ability to be able to disrupt
07:18every one of those categories in a very meaningful way.
07:22Most often, despite so much of e-commerce going on, one of the categories that probably has not
07:30yet seen the true benefit of e-commerce is the fashion industry, because fashion is very visual,
07:36very personal, very involved in some nature.
07:40And we actually think that it can be entirely disrupted.
07:44So internally, we think of this as literally a TikTok moment.
07:50Prior to TikTok, we were still watching videos, but we were searching for them primarily.
07:57And then came TikTok, and then the consumers could endlessly keep watching videos in a continuous
08:02feed.
08:03We actually think that the shopping can become that fun very, very rapidly and very quickly.
08:09Well, Abai, I got to admit, you know, I wear a lot of suits, a lot of nice things as a result
08:16of what I do for work.
08:17But I do believe I can always use a little bit of help here.
08:20So I'm excited to try out the technology and see what it comes back with.
08:23And I'm really grateful for the conversation at a really important time for the general industry.
08:27That's Abai Singh Hall.
08:28He is the co-founder at Glance AI.
08:31Abai, thank you for being here.
08:32Great conversation.
08:33Thank you very much, JD.
08:34And thank you for trying.
08:35And we hope to see you on things other than the suits.
