00:00kind of going back to last season a little bit were you disappointed to see what ben had to say

00:04on and off camera oh absolutely absolutely it was it was very disappointing um he uh i don't quite

00:11get it because he actually sonny worked for me i my own company in florida yeah i got in concepts

00:17and sonny come work for me after the season and ben was asking for work as well to come work for

00:23me you know everything happened on this happened in the show i believe in second chances for

00:28everybody he was trying to get work i was encouraging him trying to give him guidance and

00:32then um he he didn't like something i said in an interview which was factual and i guess he thought

00:39he was the he was the star and then he was trying to drag me down so had no weight so it was very

00:44very disappointing for him it really affected his employment opportunities because he he acted out

00:49against a captain sure and it was regardless on a tv show or not you act out against a captain

00:53what do you think other captains are going to feel sure they're not going to trust you

00:57so it's very disappointing um that that he did do that because he he um with his ego aside he's

01:05very good at his job but his ego got in the way has he ever reached out to apologize for anything like

01:10that no not expecting it either no no i haven't and you know he's uh you know he kind of drags

01:15sunny into sunny into as well um and it's it's disappointing because it airing your grievances don't

01:22don't help and i had numerous opportunities to fire him throughout the season um but i wanted to

01:29keep giving an opportunity so at the end of the season um i actually even spoke to him and this is

01:34interesting part is i approached him and said hey mate we're going to do a cabin inspection i want you to

01:40make sure all the cabins are done right so that's what we didn't see is i actually asked him to let the

01:46crew know how important it is and then i i have to do it it's part of my uh structure of the vessel

01:53it's it's a list that um the mca put together that i have to do it it's a legal requirement sure on my

02:00job to cabin inspections so i had to do it but i waited till later in the season to give everyone

02:05a chance to kind of find their footing so i asked him to to inform the crew how important it is sure

02:10yeah and then he was the only one he didn't do it interesting so that was a real slap on the face

02:14mm-hmm you regret not firing him

02:16oh

02:18i would have fired him on ego um and he made his decision to act how he did after the fact is on him
