Enzo Maresca reflects on “long season” as Chelsea prepare for Club World Cup

00:00Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been reflecting on what he has described as a long season

00:06following Chelsea's Conference League triumph.

00:10For sure, we won this competition. I said many times we're going to try to win the competition

00:15where we are in, I would say, where we play. This season many times people were talking

00:20about Champions League, Europa League, but you cannot win that competition if you play

00:24conference. So our target was to win conference. Now, next season we're going to play

00:29Champions League and we'll see. Now we have 10 days off, 10 days where we need to

00:37recover energy and then we're going to start the club World Cup. The target, to be honest,

00:44is to go game by game, try to go step by step, but in this moment we don't have any target

00:51for the club World Cup. Now the only target is to recover energy because the season has

00:56been very long. Don't forget that we start the conference in a play-off, not even in

01:00the group. And it has been a long season.

01:04And Tottenham head coach Ange Postacoglio has said that he finds ongoing speculation about

01:09his future weird, despite it not being guaranteed yet.

01:14Yeah, look, I'll be honest, I've been finding it really weird talking about my future when,

01:21like I said, we've done something unprecedented. So I've had to answer the questions because no one

01:32else at the club is kind of in the position to do so, I guess. But I can't answer that question about

01:36me and my future. And I said, part of me is kind of thinking, well, you know, why am I even asking,

01:48I haven't been asked that question. But it is what it is. And I've got no doubt, though, that, you know,

01:58this could be a real sort of defining moment for this for this club, because, you know, I said wherever I've been,

02:06I've kind of, you know, made an impact where I've brought success to a club that hasn't had for a while.
