Transcript
00:00And at the top of this hour, we're getting some breaking news.
00:03U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lethry said that a trade deal between India and the U.S.
00:08could happen in the not-too-distant future because they found a place that really works for both the countries.
00:17He goes on to say that you should expect a deal between the United States and India in the not-too-distant future
00:24because he thinks that they've found a place that really works for both the countries.
00:30So that's the breaking news that's coming in that U.S. Commerce Secretary has said that one can expect India-U.S. trade deal soon.
00:48If you have the right person on the other side, and what happens is if they put a normal trade minister,
00:56it's an endless set of talking and no outcome because they're used to saying this kind of deal will take three years,
01:03we'll get this done in two years.
01:05And that's not really fun for me.
01:07So the idea is when they put the right person in India, put the right person on the other side of the table,
01:13and we've managed, I think, to be in a very, very good place.
01:18And you should expect a deal between the United States and India in the not-too-distant future
01:22because I think we found a place that really works for both countries.
01:27Well, it happened the old-fashioned way, which is one of my best, best friends, Nikesh Aurora, is Indian.
01:35So when you have one of your best friends as Indian, and then Anshu Jain was one of Nikesh's best friends.
01:45And so then we went on vacation together, and we hung out together.
01:49And so ultimately what happened is I would go on these golf weekends,
01:53and I'd be the only white guy on the golf weekend.
01:55So, you know, I got interested in India because my friends had unique insight into it,
02:03and we could really talk about it.
02:05And so I wasn't a classic American looking at it from the outside, right?
02:11When I would go to India, we'd go to house parties, we'd play cricket, we just had fun.
02:18And it's a different perspective.
02:20So I am a great fan of India, and even the people in the government know that that's true.
02:28And India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay is now joining us with more details on this.
02:32Pranay, U.S. Commerce Secretary, has said that India and U.S.,
02:36there can be expected a trade deal between the two countries as they found a common place.
02:41Could you give us more context and details to this?
02:43India and U.S. have been engaging in talks as far as the bilateral trade agreement is concerned.
02:52You would recall that even the sweeping announcement made by President Donald Trump on the tariffs,
02:58even before that, on 12th of February, when Prime Minister Modi visited the United States
03:03in the Oval Office, in the press statement,
03:06there was a reference about the bilateral trade agreement.
03:09So India and U.S. have been engaging in talking as far as the tariff and adjustments are concerned,
03:15as far as the bilateral trade deal is concerned.
03:18But there is an issue as far as the tariff announcement made by President Donald Trump is concerned.
03:25Because now if you see, the issue is with the courts.
03:30However, President Donald Trump expressed his hope that it will sail through,
03:35the courts will allow him, but there is an issue because he has proclaimed that the tariff announcement
03:41under the emergency pass, the National Emergency Act.
03:46So therefore, we are yet to see how it progress in the recent past, like in the last few weeks.
03:53India's Commerce Secretary Piyush Goyal had a meeting with Howard Latnik also.
03:58The additional secretary in the Commerce Ministry led a team and engaged with the United States.
04:03And, you know, there were negotiations.
04:06So, and negotiations are still on between India and the United States to have an early deal
04:11as far as the bilateral trade agreement is concerned.
04:14There have been a consent to have the, you know, adjustment of the tariffs.
04:20But we are yet to see that how the entire issue progresses in court
04:24because we would also want to have a clarity as far as the Indian standard is concerned.
04:29The United States is the, one of the biggest trading partner with India.
04:34Also, the United States also needs a bigger, big economy, like fourth largest economy of the world,
04:40which is India, on their side to have a deal.
04:43Because President Donald Trump and his administration has to show that his trade deals are working,
04:50his tariff announcements are working and countries are approaching the United States to have a trade deal.
04:56So, this fits into that rubric he want to present before his audience, before the world.
05:04But as far as the court issue is concerned, we are yet to see that how the issue progresses in the court
05:09and which way it would go.
05:13All right. Prane, thank you for the context.
05:15But do stay with us as we are getting some more breaking news.
05:26U.S. Second Lady Usha Vance hails India visit.
05:32Usha Vance says that it was special to meet Prime Minister Modi.
05:36Kids liked Prime Minister Modi like grandfather figure.
05:40And she goes on to say that Prime Minister Modi was very kind to the kids.
05:44And she also said that my children talk about Prime Minister Modi all the time.
05:49So, Usha Vance recalled her India visit, which was in April this year.
05:54And she said that it was special to meet Prime Minister Modi.
05:58Her kids liked Prime Minister Modi like a grandfather figure.
06:02She also said that Prime Minister Modi was very kind to the kids
06:06and that the kids talk about Prime Minister Modi all the time.
06:13Meeting the Prime Minister, that was really very special.
06:16We'd actually had a chance to meet him before.
06:17And it's funny, my kids saw him.
06:21They were sort of sleep-deprived in Paris.
06:24And they saw an Indian man with a white beard and white hair.
06:28And they just put him in the grandfather category immediately.
06:30So they are very into him.
06:33They just love him.
06:34And he really cemented his status by giving our five-year-old a birthday present that day.
06:39So when we were able to visit his home, they just sort of ran up.
06:44They were hugging him.
06:45He was just incredibly kind and generous to them.
06:48When we were at the Prime Minister's residence, our son was just so taken by everything.
06:52And then taken by the entire cart of mangoes that was available for him to eat,
06:56that he announced to the Prime Minister that he thought he could maybe live there.
07:00And started making his plans.
07:02Dialed that back a little bit.
07:05He remembered quite how hot he had been earlier in the day.
07:07But he just loved it.
07:09And our children, they talk about it all the time, actually.
07:13They've been all over the place.
07:14And they've had wonderful opportunities to see the world.
07:17But this was really special to them.
07:18And now shifting focus, White House turned message on Colorado attack.
07:29White House says that we will find you and deport you.
07:32White House also said that we will revoke the visas.
07:36Now remember, Colorado attacker is an immigrant from Egypt.
07:40And the attacker, Mohamed Suleiman, shouted, Free Palestine.
07:45The man set people on fire in Colorado, U.S.
07:48And now White House has given a stern message on the attack,
07:52saying that we will find you and deport you.
07:55And that we will also revoke the visas.
08:00India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay continues to stay with us.
08:03Pranay, a stern warning coming in from the White House over the Colorado attack.
08:08Give us more details on this and also tell us about the latest
08:10as far as the investigation in the matter is concerned.
08:15As far as the border case is concerned in Colorado,
08:19the 45-year-old Mohamed Suleiman Sabri was arrested
08:22for inflicting fire injuries on many individuals
08:26who were attending a march there
08:30in support of the hostages taken by Hamas.
08:36So as far as the prosecution filed charge sheet is concerned,
08:41there is a clear mention that the 45-year-old Mohamed Suleiman Sabri,
08:44who is an immigrant from Egypt,
08:46he waited, he planned it,
08:49and he actually gathered all the equipment to carry out this attack.
08:55So it was a well-calculated, well-meditated attack
08:58because he waited for about an year
09:01to carry out this attack in the city of Boulder.
09:03And he also waited until his daughter had graduated from the high school.
09:09If you see this incident and involvement of an immigrant,
09:13this clearly shows, and President Donald Trump and his administration
09:17would show it,
09:18as vindication of their stand against the illegal immigrants,
09:22especially in calling them that most of the criminals
09:26and people with a criminal mindset
09:27have entered the United States
09:29misusing the liberal policies of the previous administration.
09:34The police and FBI has quoted in their affidavit
09:38that the suspect had learned to shoot the gun in a class
09:42and he took for the purpose of offending the concealed carry permit.
09:46But he ended up using the Baltimore cocktails
09:49and also that his immigration status
09:52that Suleiman told the investigators
09:54that he had learned about how to make the firebombs
09:57from YouTube and stuff like that.
10:00So this entire case
10:03also being presented by the Trump administration
10:06because the administration officials immediately sees
10:08on Sunday's violence
10:10as an example of why they are cracking down on illegal immigrants
10:14and why there should be a further action
10:16because the Boulder Police Epidavit also mentions
10:19that the Suleiman has planned for here
10:21to carry out such attack
10:22and which unfolded on the Pearl Street Mall
10:25and which is a popular pedestrian shopping district
10:28near the University of Colorado.
10:30Many people visit there.
10:32So obviously, they'll try and make
10:35this Mohamed Suleiman Savari's case
10:37as an example that why there should be
10:39a strict crackdown on illegal immigrants
10:43and why they should be deported.
10:46All right.
10:46Pranay, thank you for those details.
10:48But do stay with us
10:49as we're getting some more breaking news.
11:01And the White House says
11:03that Donald Trump is open to meeting
11:05Putin and Zelensky in Turkey.
11:07Drones strike clouds peace push in Istanbul.
11:10Zelensky pushes prisoners warped deal.
11:12Istanbul talks last only one hour.
11:16Ceasefire talks stalled amid the strikes.
11:19But in the latest,
11:21White House has said that
11:22Donald Trump is open to meeting
11:24Putin and Zelensky in Turkey.
11:26So that's the breaking news that's coming in.
11:32Remember, yesterday in Istanbul,
11:34Ukraine-Russia peace talks were scheduled.
11:36They happened but only for one hour.
11:39They lasted only for one hour.
11:41Remember, it is pertinent to note
11:43that the peace talks came after
11:45the Ukrainian drone strike on Russia.
11:48It was the biggest drone strike from Ukraine on Russia,
11:53after which the peace talks happened.
11:56But they lasted only for one hour.
11:58Zelensky pushed for prisoner swap deal.
12:01And so the drone strike clouded the peace push.
12:04And amid all of this,
12:06White House has now said that
12:07Donald Trump is ready to meet
12:10Putin and Zelensky in Turkey.
12:12India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay
12:14is with us with more on this.
12:16Pranay, amid the peace talks
12:18that only lasted for one hour
12:19in Istanbul between Ukraine and Russia.
12:22Now Donald Trump has said
12:23that he is open to meet
12:25Zelensky and Putin.
12:26Yes, Anjali.
12:30This statement has come from the White House.
12:32President Donald Trump said
12:33that he is willing to talk to
12:35and have a direct engagement,
12:37direct talk with President Vladimir Putin
12:39and President Vladimir Zelensky
12:41after the spectacular Sunday attack,
12:44which was carried out
12:45and owned by the Ukrainian side
12:47and hitting at the deep inside
12:49military bases of Russia.
12:51Obviously, it was expected.
12:54In fact, what was surprised
12:56that even both sides
12:57showed the commitment
12:58to carry out the conversation
13:00in peace talks in Istanbul.
13:04But yes, President Donald Trump's statement
13:07has come as part of push
13:09from his administration
13:10to end this war,
13:12to have a ceasefire agreement
13:13between the Russian side
13:16and the Ukrainian side.
13:17And you would recall, Anjali,
13:19that President Donald Trump
13:20has said in past
13:22that unless he and Putin
13:23have a direct conversation,
13:26nothing is going to happen.
13:27And thereafter,
13:28there was a serious conversation
13:29started only after
13:31President Donald Trump
13:33and President Putin
13:34had a two-hour-long phone conversation.
13:36And this would be very big
13:37if he has direct meetings
13:40with both President Putin
13:41and President Zelensky.
13:43and this is a push from his side
13:47to have a diplomatic deal
13:48and a ceasefire
13:49to broke U.S. broker T.C.
13:51to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
13:53But we are yet to see
13:54because keeping in view
13:56the hostilities on ground,
13:57keeping in view of the push
13:59to have the military gains on ground
14:02from either side,
14:03this is complicating the situation.
14:05And you would also recall, Anjali,
14:07that just a few days ago,
14:08President Donald Trump
14:09has expressed his frustration.
14:11And he, in fact,
14:12called President Putin,
14:13he used the word crazy,
14:16that we do not know
14:17why he is doing so.
14:20And President Donald Trump
14:21said that he knew Putin
14:24for a long, long time,
14:25but he doesn't,
14:26he's not being able
14:27to understand that
14:28why Russia is doing,
14:29you know,
14:30and carrying out so much,
14:31like, you know,
14:32lethal attacks
14:33on the Ukrainian side
14:34if they want to engage
14:35in a ceasefire
14:36or in a peace negotiation.
14:38So we are yet to see
14:39that, you know,
14:39after all these tall statements
14:41and, you know,
14:42probabilities of direct meetings,
14:44how this would progress
14:45because the ceasefire talks
14:47lasted only for an hour yesterday,
14:49which was quite likely.
14:51But we are yet to see
14:52that how much
14:53the draft shared
14:55by either side
14:55would work.
14:57All right, Pranay,
14:58thank you so much
14:58for getting us
14:59all those details
14:59and for that context.
15:04After Russia-Ukraine
15:06peace talks in Istanbul,
15:07White House now says
15:08that U.S. President Donald Trump
15:10is open to meet
15:11Russian and Ukrainian
15:12president in Turkey.
15:13White House also added
15:15that both Putin
15:16and Zelensky
15:17need to sit down together
15:18for talks
15:18and resolve the issue.
15:20Now, this came
15:21after Turkish President Erdogan
15:23had proposed
15:24hosting a meeting
15:25with Putin and Zelensky
15:27along with the U.S. President
15:29Donald Trump
15:29as it strives
15:31to broker
15:31an elusive deal
15:32to end the war.
15:34During the peace talks
15:35in Istanbul,
15:36both sides agreed
15:37for a fresh round
15:38of prisoner exchange
15:39and Ukraine pressed
15:40Russia to return
15:42hundreds of children
15:43allegedly deported
15:44from occupied territories.
15:46Ukraine also proposed
15:48another meeting
15:48by the end of June
15:49and stressed
15:50that the delegation
15:51should try to agree
15:52a meeting
15:53between presidents
15:54Zelensky and Putin.
15:59We are going to be
16:00in the end of June.
16:01This is our memorandum of Turkish history, which consists of two parts.
16:08The first part is how to reach the real world.
16:14And the second part is how to make the steps,
16:19so that it was possible to be a full-time solution.
16:25And in the second part, there is even a variety of ways to go on this way or on this way.
16:34The memorandum was quite detailed and processed from our side,
16:39so the Ukrainian side decided to take it to study.
16:44They are studied, they answer, and we will see.
16:49The third point in our agenda is a meeting of leaders.
16:54We firmly believe that all key issues can only be solved at a level of leaders.
17:01And the leaders meeting could be with possible involvement of other leaders, such as President of United States.
17:11What is the future?
17:18We will agree with the future.
17:20We will agree with the future.
17:22At the same time, Trump will be able to get this meeting, if they will be able to get this meeting, I will be able to get this meeting, and this meeting will be able to get this meeting.
17:47Bunun girişimlerini de şu son buluşmadan sonra adımını atacağız.
18:17İdoluları izlediğiniz için teşekkür ederim.
18:47has started in Ayodhra. It's a key day. Most of the three-day program in Ayodhra and heavy

24:00Vera Report, India Today.
24:14And at the top of this hour, we're getting some breaking news.
24:17The India Bloc huddle and briefing at 12.30pm today.
24:20Over 200 India Bloc MPs write a letter to Prime Minister Modi.
24:25India Bloc MPs to release the signed letter to Prime Minister.
24:29Opposition MPs may seek special parliament session.
24:33That's the update that is coming in.
24:34My colleague Rahul Gautam is now joining us with more details on this.
24:38Rahul, give us more details about this briefing that is going to be held at 12.30pm today by the India Bloc leaders.
24:45What is going to be the core message that we can expect?
24:49Well, Anjali, leaders from India Bloc will be meeting today at 12.30pm at Constitutional Club in the national capital.
24:59And after the meeting, they will be holding a press conference and will be releasing a letter which has been signed by 200 parliamentarians, particularly from opposition camp,
25:10in which they have specifically demanded a special session to discuss events that have taken place after a Pelagam attack.
25:18Now, we all know that how Congress was the first one to raise this demand that there should be a special session to discuss events that followed Pelagam attack.
25:29And soon, you know, after Congress, there were several other parties who also echoed the same sentiment.
25:36Yesterday, only RJD MP Manojha wrote a letter to Prime Minister asking the same thing.
25:41So, clearly, you can say that it's a tactic on the part of the opposition camp to exert more pressure on government to hold a special session to discuss events.
25:53Opposition camp has been demanding that a special session is a must so that people could know that what really unfolded in the wake of Pelagam attack
26:03and how, you know, what was the reason for sudden ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
26:09Now, clearly, the clamor is growing and it seems that with this letter, which has already been signed by 200 parliamentarians from opposition camp
26:18that will be released today, it's certainly going to exert more pressure on government as to either explain what's the rationale behind not holding a special session
26:27or to, you know, go ahead with a special session.
26:30But clearly, it seems that it will make it difficult for government to look away and not listen to this demand.
26:37So, that's why it's a pressure tactic.
26:39At 12.30, we've been informed that leaders from various political parties, we've been informed that Dipinder Ghuda will be representing Congress.
26:47And so, other leaders from various political outfits will be coming in and would be holding a press conference.
26:53And obviously, they would be asking questions to the government as to why government is not holding a special session.
26:58As they say, the government should be giving answers to many questions which they believe have not been answered so far.
27:08All right, Rahul.
27:09Thank you for getting us all those details.
27:11We'll keep coming back to you for more updates on the story.
27:13And the politics over Operation Sindhu refuses to die down.
27:20The war of words between BJP and the Congress continue to escalate.
27:24Congress Chief Malik Arjun Khargay has renewed the demand for a special parliament session on the operation.
27:30Khargay also slammed Prime Minister Modi, accusing him of delivering self-glorifying speeches over Operation Sindhu.
27:36But the Congress now faces an internal feud.
27:39As senior Congress leader Salman Khushid, part of the anti-terror outreach, took a wailed dig, calling it distressing that people at home are calculating political allegiances, asking is, is it so difficult to be patriotic?
27:53BJP II hit back, accusing Congress of routinely questioning security forces and also crossing the limits in political desperation.
28:01With the Congress now isolating leaders like Shashi Tharoor, who praised the government's handling of Operation Sindhu, the big question remains, can the Congress party afford this public fallout?
28:11The Congress is a part of the issue of the government's handling of the government.
28:41Mr. Salman Kurshid's tweet only reflects how the Congress Party has been repeatedly fault-finding patriotism and nitpicking on nationalism.
29:06And now the Congress Party is sounding like the twelfth man of Pakistan.
29:13I reiterate, Salman Kurshid's tweet only shows how the unpatriotic Congress Party is now sounding like the twelfth man for Pakistan.
29:21People keep saying, what are you doing in a delegation where there are people from the BJP, what are you doing there?
29:29Now, what are we doing here?
29:31We are doing here is what is needed for the country.
29:34No matter which party you are from, today what is needed is a single voice to speak in favor of the nation.
29:42And that's what we are doing here.
29:44And I think when I say, is it so difficult to be a patriot?
29:48That's the question that has to be asked of those who are putting out tweets and saying things that I believe are not very encouraging when you want to do something for the nation.
30:01Do you understand what you are proposing?
30:02I don't know where you are doing this.
30:03I don't understand what you are suggesting or something for you.
30:04But no matter as well, you are sending out the country from them.
30:05What fact is your obligation of your power to you?
30:06The question that you are asking about that is the name of the nation.
30:10Why is it different from you to your responsibility?
30:17And even when it comes to harmony,
30:23it's not the fault of both people.
30:27Rahul Ji has asked us how much of the fault we have,
30:30what is the fault we have?
30:40According to sources, the government is not considering the opposition's demand
30:43for a special session of Parliament on Operation Sindhoor.
30:46According to government sources, the monsoon session is going to be held in July,
30:50so there is no justification for the demand for a special session.
30:55Congress President Malikar Junkarge and other opposition leaders
30:57have demanded a special session of Parliament on Operation Sindhoor.
31:01But the latest update that is coming in is that according to government sources,
31:04we're learning that the government is not considering the opposition's demand
31:08for a special session of Parliament on Operation Sindhoor.
31:12My colleague Himanshu Mishra is now joining us with more details on this.
31:16Himanshu, today the opposition bloc MPs, the India bloc MPs,
31:20were going to have a meeting and a briefing at 12.30.
31:24And it is expected that they're going to raise the demand for a special session on Operation Sindhoor.
31:29But according to government sources, we're learning that the government
31:32is really not keen on holding a special session as there's already a session scheduled for July.
31:38Surah Kaur Junkarjeev, thank you.
31:40No doubt about it, but there's an opportunity to answer the question.
31:48There's two party meetings, it's followed after the pattern of congress since I did a special session.
31:52And after the meeting, that was completed by the IMOD,
31:55they were signed by the staff.
31:58Surah Kaur Junkarjeev, the government thought,
32:01If there is a monsoon session in July, it doesn't matter because of Viseesh Sattr.
32:08But the way CDS has been interviewed by an international channel,
32:14it seems that Vipaksh should be a special session.
32:20But the government has to believe that if there is no need for a special session,
32:26and if there is no need for a special session,
32:31if there is a monsoon session,
32:33if there is no need for a special session,
32:36then there is no need for a special session.
32:39Himanshu, today the special meeting of the opposition block MPs,
32:44who are going to demand this,
32:47does not see any benefit of that?
32:49Because the government has to say that the session is scheduled for July,
32:54and if there is no need for a special session?
32:58No, because the first special session,
33:01if you can see,
33:02it was called for Mahila Erection Bill in September,
33:06and if there is no need for a special session,
33:09then there was a joint session,
33:11or a larger GST when launched.
33:14And in 2008,
33:16in 2008,
33:17in 2008,
33:18when the government came to the nuclear deal,
33:19when the government came to the nuclear deal,
33:22and left parties had to withdraw them.
33:25After that,
33:26it was called.
33:27But there is no need for a special session,
33:29because the part-one of the operation should be successful,
33:33and the operation should be ongoing.
33:35So the government has to believe,
33:37that the authorities have professed about,
33:38the wszyscy need for the state,
33:39so that the government have to find that,
33:40the authorities have to take care of their defense.
33:42And so they have to take care of their defense.
33:43But I do not believe that the authorities have to provide
33:44an asset,
33:45and if we have to thank the authorities,
33:46this is the general of the defense,
33:47it is the general of the government,
33:48which also supports the DVBF,
33:49the people in Delhi,
33:51so that there is the general of the police.
33:52So the government can't also be required,
33:53even if the authorities have to take care of their service,
33:54inquire of the government to engage
33:55that there is no need to be.
33:57If you want to,
33:59then when you have a monsoon station,
34:01then you will take the Pelagram attack
34:05or if you want to take a big attack on any big attack,
34:07if you want to,
34:09then the government can think about it.
34:11Yes, Imanjshu,
34:12thank you for all your knowledge.
34:14With that, we are now shifting focus.
34:15We are getting some more breaking news.
34:25And according to sources,
34:27we are learning that the government will launch
34:28Umid VAKF portal on June 6th.
34:31The government is going to launch the Umid portal
34:33on June 6th with an aim to promote management
34:37and transparency of VAKF properties.
34:40So according to sources,
34:42the government is all set to launch
34:43Umid VAKF portal on June 6th.
34:46Now this portal is being launched
34:48with an aim to promote management
34:50as well as transparency of the VAKF properties.
34:55My colleague Piyush Mishra
34:59is now joining us with more details on this.
35:01Piyush, could you give us more details
35:02about the Umid portal
35:05that is going to be launched on June 6th?
35:11Well, that's right, Anjali.
35:13What we are now learning from our sources
35:14is that most likely the government
35:16is going to launch the Umid portal
35:18and it will be in the beneficial
35:20of all the unregistered VAKF properties
35:23and the users.
35:24That's why, because after this portal is launched,
35:27then all the VAKF properties
35:30will be registered.
35:31What we are learning from our sources
35:33is that the government is doing so
35:34to regulate the VAKF properties
35:36and to ensure that, you know,
35:39there is no misuse of any kind of VAKF land.
35:42And that is why this portal
35:43is also being launched.
35:44You would remember that
35:45a couple of days back
35:47in the parliament itself,
35:49the VAKF bill was also passed.
35:50After this, we have also seen
35:52a lot of politics taking place,
35:54but the government has been ensuring
35:55that this VAKF bill was brought
35:58and it has been made into act
36:00because the government wants
36:01to give justice to a lot of people
36:03who have been deprived of their rights.
36:06and this VAKF act
36:08is certainly going to bring
36:09transparency
36:09and launching the app,
36:12the Umeed portal,
36:13this is certainly going to bring
36:14a lot of transparency
36:16because after this is launched,
36:17properties,
36:18those are under the name of VAKF
36:20would be registered.
36:21Anjali.
36:23All right, Piyush,
36:24thank you so much
36:25for getting us all those details.
36:27So the government is all set
36:28to launch the Umeed portal
36:30on June 6
36:31for the management
36:32of VAKF properties.
36:36Actor Kamal Hassan
36:37has moved the Kinnatka High Court
36:39seeking protection
36:39for release of his film
36:41Thug Life in the state.
36:43He has requested the court

36:46as well as the film trade bodies
36:48not to obstruct

36:55for the film's screening.
36:56Kamal Hassan's film Thug Life
36:58is scheduled for release
36:59on June 5
37:00but the actor
37:01is in controversy
37:02over a comment
37:02on the origins
37:03of the Kannara language.
37:05The statement
37:06has angered
37:06pro-Kannara activists,
37:08triggered widespread criticism
37:10and also led
37:11to growing calls
37:12to boycott
37:13his film Thug Life.
37:14The Kinnatka Film
37:15Chamber of Commerce
37:16has issued a stern warning
37:17asking the actor
37:18to apologize
37:19or his film Thug Life
37:21may not hit the screens
37:22in the state of Kinnatka.
37:24The film body
37:25has said that
37:26this is not just
37:26a film issue
37:27but a state
37:28and language issue.
37:29is a book
37:30about long-term
37:31and the fact
37:32will be
37:32about long-term
37:32and the non-term
37:34and the people
37:35have prepared
37:35to accomplish
37:35the house
37:36with a shoot
37:37and the people
37:37are confronted

37:40the public
37:42and the people
37:42find
37:44and their
37:44will find
37:45as well.
37:45It's not a
37:45global
37:46matter
37:46Even today, our entire country has become a place in the world.
37:55If we see our country, we are not going to visit our country.
38:03We are not going to visit our country.
38:08We are going to visit our country.
38:15The actor turned politician has refused to apologize, saying that his comment was from a place of love.
38:45This is a democratic country, and I believe in love and justice, and I believe always love will thrive.
38:56And my love for Karnataka is true, my love for Hamra is true, my love for Kerala is true.
39:05So nobody will suspect it except those with an agenda.
39:09I've been threatened before, and if I am wrong, I will apologize.
39:16If I'm not, I won't. It's my lifestyle. Please don't stand for me.
39:24Now shifting focus, insistent rains and flash floods ravage northeast India.
39:29Millions have been displaced as NDRF and army conduct rescue operations on war footing.
39:34India today tracks all the developments.
39:50Relentless rains.
39:55Flash floods.
39:59Landslides.
40:00Over 30 dead and thousands stranded.
40:11Northeast India, especially Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram, are facing incessant rains.
40:22In Assam, over 3 lakh people have been affected by the torrential downpour.
40:27As the army and NDRF conduct round-the-clock rescue missions,
40:3310 major rivers, including the Brahmaputra and Barak, flow above the danger mark.
40:38The area which seems to be a lake is not so.
40:45It's a paddy field, and this particular place connects to different villages across in and around this area.
40:52But this remains to be the main source of connectivity as of now.
40:57These small boats, this country boat remains to be the only source of hope for them.
41:02Every time, incessant rainfall happens, every time there's an incessant rainfall in Meghalaya, flood-like situation happens.
41:10Asam, you can see here, my village is there, but I have to use the rains.
41:15If I go to the rains, I will be able to go to the rains.
41:20Do you have no help?
41:20No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
41:25Asam, Chief Minister Himantabeswassarma visited the worst-hit district, Lakhimpur, and assured all assistance.
41:34Across Manipur, the situation remains grim.
41:43With 47 landslides in 48 hours, over 19,000 people have been affected.
41:51More than 3,000 houses have been damaged.
41:5431 relief camps have been set up in Imphal.
41:57The Indian Army and Assam rifles have rescued over 500 people in the ongoing operation Jal Rahat.
42:04The situation here in Krompat, the roads are all inundated.
42:09And according to the official data, over 3,000 houses have been damaged.
42:15The Imphal river swelled from days of downpour debris embouchments in multiple areas, including Purai, Hainan and Chakon.
42:23Flooding event, vital installation like All India Radio Complex and the St. Ranjanin's Hospital.
42:29In Arunachal Pradesh, 10 people have died, and the steel bridge in Tirab collapsed, while several roads and villages are inundated.
42:43With the Med Department issuing an orange alert, there is no respite for northeastern states.
42:48With Babi Shirin and Tapa Sengupta, Bureau of Report, India Today.
42:57And our shifting focus, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will see another Pran Pratishtha on the premises from today after the grand consecration of Ram Lala on January 22nd last year.
43:11The three-day event is Pran Pratishtha at the Ram Darbar, which will house eight temples for each deity, and it will be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
43:21Take a look.
43:27Ayodhya awaits another historic moment as Ram Temple glows in gold.
43:51The temple town is echoing with chants ahead of Ram Darbar consecration ceremony.
43:59On the banks of Saryu, women took out a grand color syadra.
44:03You witnessed the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lala, 22 January 2024, but now this is the time of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Darbar,
44:18as Ram Rajya is about to begin in Ayodhya with Lord Ram coming to Ayodhya with his younger brothers Bharat Shatrugun and Lakshman wife Matasita and obviously Ram Dut, Pawan Putra Hanuman.
44:33And if you see the visuals from Ayodhya, cameraman Gaurav will show you the beautification of this temple and especially focusing on the golden domes,
44:43the majestic golden domes are telling the story.
44:46This three-day consecration ceremony starts from Tuesday and will conclude on Thursday.
45:16The golden shikara of the Ram Temple, a symbol of faith and devotion, is now drawing attention of devotees.
45:46The temple is made by the temple. It will be the first temple of Vishwa's first temple.
45:55And this is the temple of Ram Darbar is giving the temple of Ram Rajya.
46:05The Pran Pratishtha ritual will be conducted in eight temples simultaneously.
46:11The temple authorities share the detailed schedule of the sacred event.
46:16With chants, rising and golden domes shining, Ayodhya prepares to welcome a new chapter in its time.
46:46This is a timeless spiritual journey.
46:49Vera Report, India Today.
46:51Vodhi Mantri's big remark on Tesla in India.
47:02Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy says that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India.
47:07He goes on to say that Tesla hasn't shown any interest in India.
47:12Tesla does not want to produce cars in India.
47:14Tesla does not want to produce cars in India is what is being said by Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy
47:17as the government finalized its electric vehicle policy with the EV giant's plans currently focused on importing cars into the country.
47:26It's a big remark coming in from Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy who says that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India.
47:33Tesla hasn't shown any interest in India.
47:36So, he said this as the government finalized its electric vehicle policy with the electric vehicle giant's plans currently focused on importing cars into the country.
47:52And he has made this remark about Tesla saying that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India as it has not shown any interest in India.
48:02So, that's a big remark coming to the fore by H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tesla in India saying that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India.
48:13My colleague Karishma is now joining us with more details on this.
48:17Karishma, what makes the Union Minister make such a big remark that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India?
48:24Pretty much coming in on an expected line.
48:27Because if we have all forgotten, it's time to remember the fact that Donald Trump, a few months ago, I think it was in the month of February,
48:38had said that any plans of Tesla to open a factory in India would be very unfair.
48:44And knowing the fact that Elon Musk is a confidant of Donald Trump, he wouldn't want to risk in any way.
48:52Especially now that you see what is happening with Apple, when Apple is trying to go ahead with its plans of manufacturing in India.
49:05Tesla, however, had recently finalized some showroom space in India and posted more than two dozen jobs, signaling it is getting closer to a launch.
49:15It has been mulling an India entry for the past several years.
49:20And Musk has outright also spoken vocally on India's high import duties, calling them a major barrier to Tesla's expansion in the country.
49:29But to have a manufacturing unit in India is going to be quite a challenge for it.
49:37It's the fact that it may not want to mess with its current relationship with the U.S. residents.
49:44However, India's EV policy has been quite attractive.
49:49And the fact that Mercedes-Benz, Skoda, Volkswagen, Hyundai and Kia have also shown interest to manufacture EVs in India
49:58could try and influence the fact that Tesla should consider at least beating its competition in the country,
50:06which is attracting most of high-end luxury players now.
50:10Right. Karishma, thank you so much for getting us all those details and for that context.
50:14So, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has said that Tesla doesn't want to make cars in India.
50:19It only wants to start car showrooms, as my colleague Karishma was mentioning.
50:24U.S. Commerce Secretary's big remark on India-U.S. trade.
50:38Lutnik says that India-Russia defense deal upset U.S.
50:44And Lutnik has also said that India may buy military equipment from U.S.
50:49That's a big remark that is coming in from U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnik,
50:53who has said that India-Russia defense deal upset the United States
50:58and that India may buy military equipment from the United States itself.
51:04There were certain things that the Indian government did that generally rubbed the United States the wrong way.
51:15For instance, you generally buy your military gear from Russia.
51:20That's a way to kind of get up, you know, under the skin of America
51:26if you're going to buy your armaments from Russia.
51:28So I think India is starting to move towards buying the military equipment from the United States,
51:36which then goes a long way.
51:38And these kind of things just creating that relationship, being a part of BRICS, right,
51:42which is, oh, let's move to not support the dollar and dollar hegemony.
51:49That's not really the way to make friends and influence people in America.
51:52So, you know, the president calls that out directly and specifically.
51:57And the Indian government is addressing it specifically and directly.
52:03And that's how you move on to a really positive place is put it on the table,
52:07address it straight on, resolve it straight on and get to a really good place.
52:12And I think that's where we are.
52:15And India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay is now joining us on the story.
52:19Pranay, significant remark coming to the fore from U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnik,
52:23who says and in fact admits that U.S. was upset about India-Russia defense deal
52:27and he has even offered that India may buy military equipment from the United States.
52:32You are absolutely right.
52:34And you would also recall that, you know, in the past, one of the U.S. ambassadors had to quit his position
52:40after losing the MMRCA fighter deal by the U.S. platforms.
52:46But if you see the trajectory of the increase of U.S. more manufactured component military hardware
52:52in the Indian inventory, it has really gone up in the last 10, 15 years.
52:57We have witnessed $20 million worth of the military deals signed between the two countries.
53:03There have been delivery of, like, you know, P-8i aircrafts to Apaches, to Chinooks,
53:08to C-17, C-130J, to M-777 Havadzar guns, to six assault rifles.
53:14So there has been a significant increase as far as the U.S. manufactured or U.S. made military hardware is concerned.
53:21But India's inventory, India's military hardware, India is one of the biggest military buyers in the world.
53:27And we diversify the military buying as per our requirement.
53:33And interestingly, on one side, there is a statement from the U.S. Commerce Secretary on this issue
53:38as far as the defense needs are concerned.
53:40And on the other side, yesterday, the Russian Charjvi affairs in India, Babushkin,
53:51clearly mentioned that Russia is committed to deliver the remaining two batteries of the S-400 missiles.
53:58As far as, we are also looking at expansion of the air defense mechanisms as per India's requirement.
54:04All right, Pranay, thank you for those details.
54:07But do stay with us as we're getting some more breaking news.
54:17And Ukrainian President Zelenskyy seeks more sanctions on Russia,
54:21says Russia doing everything to continue the war.
54:24Zelenskyy added that 400 children to be returned home.
54:29So that's the breaking news that's coming in amid the Ukraine-Russia war.
54:32And after Ukraine's biggest drone strike on Russia,
54:37Zelenskyy has now sought more sanctions on Russia,
54:40saying that Russia is doing everything to continue the war.
54:43My colleague Pranay continues to stay with us to get us more context on this.
54:46Pranay, over to you.
54:49You're right.
54:50There is a statement by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
54:54And there is a special mention about children.
54:57You would recall that in past,
54:59there has been claims from the either side,
55:02especially from the Ukrainian side,
55:03that there have been 1.5 million children who are trapped
55:07and who got affected by this conflict
55:09and have been abducted.
55:11However, in past,
55:13there has been correction in the statement
55:14and which has been reduced to about 20,000 children.
55:17And now this has come down to around like 339 names
55:23shared by the Ukrainian side with the Russian side.
55:28And the Russian statement,
55:30which came yesterday,
55:31clearly mentions that we are not for children.
55:33We do not want children to get affected from this conflict.
55:37And therefore,
55:37every child will reunite with their parents,
55:41all families on both sides.
55:42All right, Pranay, do stay with us.
55:44We're getting some more breaking news right now.
55:47Russia is committed to delivering the remaining units
