U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says China is taking its time in talks to reach a trade deal with the U.S., but that President Donald Trump can get the deal through. It comes amid frustration in the administration over the progress of the talks, with Trump recently accusing China of violating an agreement to roll back mutual tariffs against each other.

00:00U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Ludnick says China is taking its time on negotiating a trade deal with the U.S.
00:06But he told Fox News Sunday with Shannon Breen that he trusts President Donald Trump to get the deal through.
00:14Is there just slow rolling the deal?
00:17So I think slow rolling is the right way to say it.
00:20And I think Donald Trump is on it.
00:22We are taking certain actions to show them what it feels like on the other side of that equation.
00:28But my view is Donald Trump and President Xi, you know, our president understands what to do.
00:33He's going to go work it out.
00:35And and I am confident that this is going to work out either way.
00:40Ludnick also says he doesn't expect Trump to extend the current pause on across the board tariffs he levied on trading partners in April.
00:48It comes as the U.S. seeks to reach new trade accords with many of those partners, including China.
00:54Last month, the U.S. and China agreed to lower tariffs of over 100 percent against each other.
01:00But Trump last week accused Beijing of violating that agreement and other administration officials expressed concern with the progress of talks.
