00:00:00No one's safe here. I might be in serious trouble.
00:00:10For the first time ever, the toughest survival competition on the planet goes down under.
00:00:17I didn't come out here to just win the final challenge. I came out here to win every challenge.
00:00:22As 14 of the world's most elite survivalists take on the Australian Outback for one month.
00:00:32Where they must conquer their environment.
00:00:35Savage strikes again, baby.
00:00:37And each other.
00:00:38Anybody can go home at any time.
00:00:41Sending people home is what I do.
00:00:43Yes!
00:00:45In an all-out battle of skills.
00:00:47Each camp must build a spring snare trap.
00:00:50Innovation.
00:00:50Yes!
00:00:52And grit.
00:00:53Let's get there!
00:00:55To win $100,000.
00:00:58Ah!
00:01:01Yes!
00:01:02Failure means elimination.
00:01:05Everything's at stake.
00:01:06Competition's real and people are getting eliminated fast.
00:01:10I hate losing.
00:01:11As the pressure melts.
00:01:12I didn't steal it.
00:01:14Are you kidding me?
00:01:15Come at me.
00:01:16Yeah.
00:01:17That little snake.
00:01:18And rivals fall.
00:01:19I don't cry.
00:01:23Ever.
00:01:24Because in your darkest days, you don't quit.
00:01:27The Outback has been taking people out left and right.
00:01:29You give up in survival, you die.
00:01:31Only one with the will.
00:01:34This last one standing is stacked.
00:01:37And the skill.
00:01:39This is $100,000 on the line.
00:01:42I'm not going home!
00:01:44I'm the f***ing queen of the jungle!
00:01:46Who says girls can't dominate this challenge?
00:01:49Will become...
00:01:50I am ready to fight.
00:01:51The last one standing.
00:01:53Australia!
00:01:54Previously on Last One Standing...
00:02:02Oh, fishing line!
00:02:03...already in possession of a bow, Patrick stole a fishing asset from Jamie...
00:02:07Ah!
00:02:09...and quickly turned it into food for his group.
00:02:13On day four, the camps competed in three cash challenges.
00:02:17Matt, Laura, and Max had big success winning a rope.
00:02:21Oh, my God!
00:02:21Oh, my God!
00:02:23Go, Laura, keep going!
00:02:25And their camp's second bow and arrow set.
00:02:27Oh, f***ers!
00:02:29Teamwork!
00:02:30Yes!
00:02:31While Cheney and Jermaine secured a giant scrubber bull hide to split with Patrick.
00:02:35The little bit that I know about Trish, I would not trust her.
00:02:38But Trish, Suzanne, and Jamie struggled with each other and against the competition.
00:02:42Just put it over it, that one right there.
00:02:44No, we just cut this.
00:02:46And came away empty-handed.
00:02:47I wasn't too happy with my team.
00:02:49Let's see.
00:02:50Let's see if there's a water.
00:02:52Kai hoped to overcome a recent surgery to be the last one standing.
00:02:56But a mysterious infection led medics to a difficult decision.
00:03:00It's not medically safe for you to be out here.
00:03:02What?
00:03:03We're going to extract you.
00:03:04Leaving Darren and Kayla as the only camp of two against three camps of three, with elimination on the line.
00:03:11Where's Kai?
00:03:13We're the weak link here.
00:03:14If Darren and I get sent to elimination, we are going to go head-to-head.
00:03:18And I do not want to do that.
00:03:19Today, we'll test your bushcraft skills.
00:03:26Each camp must work together to build a baited three-stick spring snare trap.
00:03:31Let's go.
00:03:31Ideal for passively capturing feral goats, an invasive species of Australia, spring snares have been used by Aboriginal Australians for centuries.
00:03:43This type of snare that I'm using uses a powered sapling.
00:03:47Let's bring it to show you what it does.
00:03:49In today's multi-phase competition, camps must work together to build, trigger, and bait a spring snare trap.
00:04:01Each camp must harvest mussels from the shallows, open the mussels, and bait your snare trap.
00:04:07For the first phase of this challenge, the survivalists must secure bait for their spring snare traps.
00:04:14After collecting mussels, competitors move to phase two of the challenge, where camps will construct a spring trap strong enough to snare a feral goat,
00:04:22which can weigh up to 30 pounds, using a sapling, three-stick trigger, and a toggle on the snare cordage.
00:04:29For each camp, camps must successfully activate their spring snare before resetting and baiting their trap with mussels.
00:04:38Each camp is provided with paracord for the snare and a 30-pound log to test the trap's effectiveness.
00:04:44You know how to do the trap?
00:04:46Yeah.
00:04:46100%?
00:04:46Yeah.
00:04:47Okay.
00:04:49What about you, Gene?
00:04:50Have you done this trap before?
00:04:54I have a lot of experience with spring snare traps, so I'm pretty confident.
00:04:57And I think that we're eating more than the other camps.
00:05:01We are the strongest team out here.
00:05:03I feel good about it.
00:05:04Yeah.
00:05:05First camp to complete their trap, earn a cache of a feral goat.
00:05:10Sweet.
00:05:11That would be nice.
00:05:11That's a good dinner.
00:05:13Let's go.
00:05:14First place gets a goat we haven't eaten in six days.
00:05:18This goat is a game changer.
00:05:20Second earns a cache of a feral rabbit.
00:05:23That's good.
00:05:24Nice, nice.
00:05:25Third remains safe from elimination.
00:05:29The last camp to compete their trap, earn nothing, and face an elimination challenge.
00:05:35The last place finishers go to elimination.
00:05:38During these challenges, expected or unexpected, the absolute best of the best can sometimes come in last.
00:05:44I've built this trap dozens and dozens, maybe hundreds of times.
00:05:48And today, I plan to win.
00:05:50This is an amazing opportunity for us to slay legends.
00:05:55We are underdogs with only two teammates, but we're not going to give up.
00:05:59We're going to fight.
00:06:00We want to win this for Kai.
00:06:02All right, here we go.
00:06:05Your challenge starts now.
00:06:09These challenges have been coming down to a matter of seconds between first place and being in an elimination.
00:06:17First, we need to go and get the muscles.
00:06:20Each camp must collect six muscles before beginning their trek.
00:06:25Digging our hands in to find muscles when everybody's jumping in the water is not an easy task.
00:06:28It's chaos everywhere.
00:06:34It's human body parts and muddy water, and I'm hoping that I can find muscles.
00:06:41How many have you got?
00:06:42I've got two.
00:06:43What?
00:06:43We didn't discuss exactly how we were going to do this.
00:06:46Are we all going for six?
00:06:48Are we going for two each?
00:06:49Yell each other's name.
00:06:51I do not want to get stuck behind everybody.
00:06:54It's going to make it muddy and impossible to search for muscles.
00:06:57So I immediately go as far north of people as I can.
00:07:01I got three.
00:07:02Luckily, at the same exact time, Darren got his three.
00:07:05Three, four, five, six.
00:07:06I have three.
00:07:07Let's go.
00:07:08Let's go.
00:07:08Go, go, go.
00:07:09I was able to get three muscles, and then boom, more.
00:07:12I got three.
00:07:13Matt, I got three, and then we're on to the next point.
00:07:15Well, I have four.
00:07:16Okay, let's go.
00:07:17Let's go.
00:07:17Let's go, six.
00:07:18Yeah, you're clear.
00:07:19Let's go, go, go.
00:07:20All camps have now completed phase one of the challenge.
00:07:23With muscles as bait, they continue on to phase two.
00:07:27Building the Trap.
00:07:29To begin, they must identify a sapling that will bend and hold under tension to act as
00:07:34a spring capable of snaring and lifting a 30-pound animal off the ground.
00:07:39Okay.
00:07:40So in a sapling, you want it to be thick enough to where it doesn't snap when you bend it
00:07:46over, not too thick to where you can actually still bend it over.
00:07:49This one's a good one.
00:07:51Something that is going to spring up and hold the weight of whatever animal you're trying
00:07:55to trap.
00:07:55Yeah.
00:07:55Put the two together.
00:07:56Perfect.
00:07:56Perfect.
00:07:57We're the first ones to pick a sapling.
00:07:59I'll work on this.
00:08:00But the fact that we are just a team of two is still in the back of my mind.
00:08:04All right, now I'm getting some sticks.
00:08:13Got to get Max lined up.
00:08:15First thing to do, Max is going to claim that sapling and we are going to get some materials
00:08:19to him ASAP.
00:08:21There's only so many real good saplings and if we have to pick one last after collecting
00:08:25material, we're going to be behind the eight ball.
00:08:27So right here, right there, right here, right here, boom, straight down.
00:08:32This looks good enough.
00:08:34Go for this one.
00:08:35Muscles down.
00:08:37Just looking for a sapling.
00:08:38I'm trying to get one closest to the finish line.
00:08:41The best one's being picked.
00:08:42So I just pick a sapling that looks good.
00:08:45Just the best of you.
00:08:47If you want to get involved, Trish.
00:08:49Yeah.
00:08:49I was just really just focused on the components and the moving parts for this trap.
00:08:54At the same time, I have no idea what Suzanne's doing.
00:08:59Jamie and Trish already have a sapling chosen.
00:09:03I think getting one chunk of resource material and dragging it to us is going to save time
00:09:09instead of me running back and forth in this sand if we're missing a stick and trying to
00:09:14forge for another stick.
00:09:15We don't have to forge now.
00:09:17I have a pile right here.
00:09:18You just point to what you want and I'll get it for you.
00:09:21All right, Jamie.
00:09:22Yeah.
00:09:23All right.
00:09:23Let's start processing.
00:09:24All right, here.
00:09:25I got one.
00:09:26Focus, guys.
00:09:27Okay.
00:09:28We're good.
00:09:30Just kind of jumped into lead mode on this competition because I have the most experience
00:09:34with this trap.
00:09:35So I have a lot of experience with snare traps.
00:09:38What I'm using is called a poacher snare in Montana.
00:09:42I got a rabbit.
00:09:43This is awesome.
00:09:44So I'm pretty confident.
00:09:46Cheney is chopping wood for the implements that we need.
00:09:49I need one more L bracket.
00:09:51I'm looking.
00:09:51This is going to be another L bracket.
00:09:54It has to be long and thin.
00:09:55It has to go to the ground.
00:09:57For the base of the trap, survivalists must drive two anchor stakes into the ground.
00:10:02These stakes typically form a natural bracket, resembling an L shape, inverted Y or V, in order
00:10:09to secure a horizontal crossbar.
00:10:11This counteracts the upward force of the bent sapling.
00:10:14Hey, hold the stick.
00:10:17Way down.
00:10:20Is it going in?
00:10:21Yep.
00:10:22What you see on challenge day with our camp is an everyday life out here.
00:10:27We are always communicating with each other.
00:10:29Good.
00:10:30Cool.
00:10:30Here, L bracket.
00:10:31Yep.
00:10:31Sorry.
00:10:32No, good to go.
00:10:33And our motor right now is to divide and conquer.
00:10:37We're knocking down the first two sides.
00:10:40We're working in harmony.
00:10:44That's good.
00:10:44I've done this a lot.
00:10:46Like, I've been playing with snares since I was nine or ten years old.
00:10:50Most important components are your Y stakes, because they hold all the tension of the snare.
00:10:56Okay.
00:10:57Our first one was a little thin.
00:10:59I thought I felt a break while we were pounding it down.
00:11:01These are going to pull out?
00:11:03Yep.
00:11:03Yep.
00:11:04And it didn't hold, so I had to immediately make a second one.
00:11:08Keep going.
00:11:08Keep going.
00:11:09Keep going.
00:11:09Keep going.
00:11:10Just keep pounding.
00:11:12Oh, Trish.
00:11:14What?
00:11:14The Y needs to be the other way.
00:11:16Huh?
00:11:16It needs to be like that.
00:11:19But this bit needs to come down further.
00:11:21Okay.
00:11:21Here.
00:11:22It needs to be the opposite way around.
00:11:23God damn it.
00:11:25I got you.
00:11:26So I know what I'm doing, but I need my team.
00:11:29I can't do it alone.
00:11:31You want this.
00:11:32Right?
00:11:33Cut.
00:11:34Cut here.
00:11:35No, this is the...
00:11:36Oh, okay.
00:11:37No, listen.
00:11:37Cut here.
00:11:38Cut here.
00:11:39Got it.
00:11:41Jamie?
00:11:42Yes?
00:11:42Please tell me you've made this before.
00:11:43I've definitely made one of these before, but never in this kind of environment.
00:11:48A little bit chaotic, huh?
00:11:48With this kind of stress.
00:11:50Get that deep in there.
00:11:52We are pounding these trap parts into the ground, but we're pounding them into sand.
00:11:58So they have to go in really deep or else they're just going to pull out.
00:12:01Make sure that's all the way down.
00:12:04You got that extra core?
00:12:08Yeah.
00:12:08Just take it.
00:12:10Okay, perfect.
00:12:10We're using a frappin' method here.
00:12:13That should hold it no problem.
00:12:14To build a trap like this, it often requires an inverted V to hold a horizontal bar.
00:12:20But the good part is, I know we don't need it.
00:12:22Nice.
00:12:22With a straight stick and a proper knot, you can make any straight stick hold that horizontal
00:12:27bar.
00:12:27Let me get a toggle going.
00:12:31The survivalist must craft a three-stick trigger that consists of a notched support anchor,
00:12:37trigger stick, and a toggle tied to a snare string.
00:12:40The tension of the trap is held in place by the trigger stick, delicately pinned between
00:12:45the support anchor and toggle.
00:12:47When an animal trips the trigger stick, the sapling activates, tightening the snare loop
00:12:52around the prey, lifting it into the air.
00:12:54I had my toggle stick.
00:12:57Okay, let the weight off.
00:12:59Okay, I like that.
00:13:01F***, Darren.
00:13:02Killing it.
00:13:04I feel super confident.
00:13:06The fact that we are a team of two, and we were the first ones to set our snare, it
00:13:09says a lot about who we are as a team and how we're working together.
00:13:14Hold on this.
00:13:15Hold on this.
00:13:16Kayla's holding the tension, and I'm holding the toggle to the trigger so that there's
00:13:21no sudden movements to set the trap off.
00:13:23I'm very confident that our spring snare is going to work right away.
00:13:27Using a log with a similar weight to a feral goat, they must trip the trigger, releasing
00:13:32the sapling.
00:13:33The log must lift completely off the ground, simulating a snared animal that cannot escape.
00:13:39If successful, they can then reset and bait their trap to complete the challenge.
00:13:44You got it?
00:13:46Yeah, okay.
00:13:47We just got to make it shorter.
00:13:48The snare has to lift the log off the ground and hold it off the ground.
00:13:52Our snare doesn't have enough spring.
00:13:54We got to just make this loop shorter.
00:13:56I got it right here.
00:13:56I got it right here.
00:13:57Okay.
00:13:57I panic, and Darren is calm, cool, and collected, and has all of the confidence that he can
00:14:03fix this.
00:14:04We need to toggle.
00:14:05Toggle set up.
00:14:07So right now, doing an inline loop.
00:14:10This allows us for some adjustment.
00:14:12The better we can adjust this, the faster we'll be.
00:14:14Let's do a little test.
00:14:17This might be too hard.
00:14:19Too hard.
00:14:20Too much power.
00:14:20The amount of times I've built this trap, I can't even tell you.
00:14:23This is one of those challenges that absolutely requires real-world experience.
00:14:28This might be a little bit more robust.
00:14:30You want it, Max?
00:14:31Let's test the weight.
00:14:33Let go with that slowly.
00:14:36It's going to pull it out.
00:14:37It's going to pull it out.
00:14:38This sapling has a lot of force pulling out of it.
00:14:41So if we were to set that trap, and the whole thing pulls out, we're back to square one.
00:14:45We need to go deeper with these.
00:14:47Pound these more.
00:14:47So we need to make sure that our foundation is essentially locked in.
00:14:51Oh, yeah, you can pound that in.
00:14:53We're moving at a really fast pace.
00:14:55Everyone here is also moving at a really fast pace.
00:14:58You're good.
00:14:59Pull this down.
00:15:01It's going to go over the top.
00:15:03We're getting everything secured.
00:15:05Everything is working.
00:15:06Right there is good.
00:15:08Hold what you got.
00:15:08I think you're going to see a little goat eaten from our side.
00:15:13I look over at Matt, Laura, and Max.
00:15:15I got to get something heavy.
00:15:16And we are in the lead.
00:15:19I saw him setting the noose.
00:15:21If we set and trigger this trap, we are going to win this.
00:15:28It's going to pull it out.
00:15:29It's going to pull it out.
00:15:29Under the threat of elimination, camps race to build, trigger, and bait a spring snare trap.
00:15:36Found these more.
00:15:36We have to make a three-stick trigger snare to be able to suspend a medium-sized game animal that would be found in this location.
00:15:44But in this case, it's going to be a large log.
00:15:47After an unsuccessful attempt, Darren and Kayla fix their snare, fighting to keep their lead.
00:15:53We just got to make it shorter.
00:15:54While other camps work furiously, with hopes to claim the first-place cache of a feral goat and second-place cache of a rabbit,
00:16:04Jermaine, Patrick, and Cheney become the second camp, ready to trigger their trap.
00:16:09Setting the noose.
00:16:10Watch yourself.
00:16:11We're in the lead right now, and we go and test our trap.
00:16:15Make it shorter.
00:16:16Make it tighter.
00:16:17It has to be lifted off the air.
00:16:18Copy.
00:16:19Make this tighter.
00:16:20Yeah.
00:16:21Cut.
00:16:21Where?
00:16:22Right here.
00:16:22Right here.
00:16:23The trap goes off, and we made a mistake.
00:16:27There's too much cordage, so when the log gets pulled up, it doesn't end up getting fully off from the ground.
00:16:33Do we make this tighter?
00:16:33No, make this tighter.
00:16:35Oh, okay.
00:16:35It's easier.
00:16:35So we have to shorten the cordage and make a new slipknot.
00:16:39It needs to go in more.
00:16:42The force of that sapling pulling up is too great to hold in the sand.
00:16:46I'm looking for something hard, something heavy.
00:16:48Here we go.
00:16:49Here we go.
00:16:49So I go and I search.
00:16:51I find a good heavy log.
00:16:52Sand anchor.
00:16:54Sand anchor.
00:16:54Bury this.
00:16:55Just bury this.
00:16:56We're going to tie it to it.
00:16:57And I bring that heavy log over, tying it together to that horizontal piece.
00:17:01And then we go like this.
00:17:02Oh, this is the other way.
00:17:03Around.
00:17:04Boom.
00:17:05That heavy log now is acting as counterweight, pulling those stakes to the earth, keeping them from coming out of the sand.
00:17:12And that has now secured this mechanism in place.
00:17:16That'll help hold it.
00:17:17This is going to help hold it.
00:17:18Out here, if you want to win, you have to think outside the box.
00:17:23There's the anchor right here.
00:17:24All right, let's get it put in.
00:17:25Here.
00:17:25We might need to move it.
00:17:26We have all the components pretty quickly.
00:17:30I have a toggle.
00:17:31Okay.
00:17:31And we're figuring out it's not an easy task to do in sand.
00:17:35Okay.
00:17:36Hold that there, Trish, if you can.
00:17:39Okay, Trish.
00:17:40Oh, I need to move it back a bit.
00:17:42Back.
00:17:44Right here.
00:17:45We've got this.
00:17:46We've got this.
00:17:47So we set everything up, get it all ready.
00:17:50Suzanne's got the knot ready for the news.
00:17:52Let's try this.
00:17:53All right, up and over.
00:17:54All right.
00:17:55Get this in here.
00:17:57Here we go.
00:17:57Okay, this is good.
00:17:58Okay.
00:17:59Ready?
00:17:59Ready?
00:18:00Ready?
00:18:00All right.
00:18:00Can we test it?
00:18:01Yeah.
00:18:02Ready?
00:18:04Oh, and that has to be much shorter.
00:18:08All right, this needs to be a lot shorter.
00:18:09Yeah.
00:18:11The string is too long.
00:18:12So the noose needs to be way down here.
00:18:14I was relying upon Jamie and Trish, and I erroneously assumed that the line was already
00:18:22cut and it was the right length.
00:18:23Here, let's cut it.
00:18:25That was a costly mistake.
00:18:27There's just no room for mistakes out here.
00:18:30Damn it.
00:18:31Come on.
00:18:34We're short a set of hands, and we're still staying competitive and in the top
00:18:39of the path.
00:18:40Okay.
00:18:41It's okay.
00:18:42Darren adjusts the line, and then we reset it.
00:18:45You know, losing Kai, somebody who is extremely skilled at bushcraft, is a really big deal.
00:18:54This is kind of her expertise.
00:18:57Okay, I'm going to release a little bit of tension.
00:18:59Let me get this one.
00:19:00Okay.
00:19:01Oh, yeah.
00:19:03Yeah.
00:19:03When we go to reset it, it falls triggers.
00:19:06So we're just losing seconds at this point.
00:19:10Right now, our log didn't have enough tension to lift it up off the ground, so we are resetting
00:19:15it.
00:19:16Good to go.
00:19:16Slow.
00:19:17Yeah.
00:19:18Max, Laura, and Matt are hot on our heels, and we don't have room for error.
00:19:23Dig it out, Cheney.
00:19:24Dig it out.
00:19:24Dig it out.
00:19:25Quick.
00:19:25Dig it.
00:19:26Dig it.
00:19:26Dig, dig, dig, dig.
00:19:27Okay.
00:19:28We're good.
00:19:29So we reset it.
00:19:33Oh, you're knocking, Mandana.
00:19:34We go to spring it.
00:19:36Everything is the right height, and the knot fails.
00:19:38Two more times.
00:19:39It's working.
00:19:40The slip knot didn't work.
00:19:41Yeah, just tie it again.
00:19:42Quick, quick.
00:19:42There we go.
00:19:42That's my fault, guys.
00:19:43I'm very good at my knots.
00:19:44I rushed this knot.
00:19:45Hold this, hold this.
00:19:47Got it.
00:19:48Make sure that holds.
00:19:49Make sure that holds.
00:19:50We in business.
00:19:51We have to win this goat.
00:19:53The goats need a goat.
00:19:55I'm so locked in, it's hard for me to even understand what anybody else is doing.
00:20:00Here we go.
00:20:01Pop that in there.
00:20:02Setting a trigger on a trap is always the hardest part.
00:20:04It is something that requires finesse and precision.
00:20:07It's twisting.
00:20:07Yeah, just make sure it's on there proper.
00:20:09When you are amped up on adrenaline, and when there's three of you trying to make it happen,
00:20:12and there's a lot of hands, it can be really hard to get it perfect.
00:20:15Let me get it.
00:20:16Let me get it.
00:20:16Yeah.
00:20:17I trust my group mates.
00:20:18We should have to assist proper.
00:20:20We were able to troubleshoot anything that came up.
00:20:22All right, I'm slowly letting up.
00:20:23Hold them free.
00:20:23Slow let.
00:20:24Keep it steady.
00:20:25Okay.
00:20:25Let it go.
00:20:26Let it go.
00:20:27We get our trap set.
00:20:28Watch out, watch out.
00:20:29Make sure it's all the way through.
00:20:30So don't touch it.
00:20:30Don't touch it.
00:20:31There we go.
00:20:31Ready?
00:20:32All right, back up, back up.
00:20:33There we go.
00:20:34Go time.
00:20:34We're going.
00:20:35Go, go, go, go.
00:20:35Boom.
00:20:35It's suspended.
00:20:37All right.
00:20:37We pull it off.
00:20:38We set it again.
00:20:40After demonstrating their trap's ability to snare an animal, Matt, Max, and Laura must now
00:20:45reset the trap and bait it with muscle meat.
00:20:48Plus the muscles.
00:20:48Plus the muscles.
00:20:49Plus the muscles.
00:20:49We got all our muscles in there.
00:20:50Using log to keep our poles down was pivotal for us.
00:20:54Let it go.
00:20:55Let it go.
00:20:55Get the news going.
00:20:56Get the news going.
00:20:57We set this for the last time.
00:20:59We bait it with the muscles.
00:21:00Come on, baby.
00:21:01Come on, baby.
00:21:01And boom.
00:21:03Let's go.
00:21:03Go, go, go.
00:21:03Go, go.
00:21:04Let's go.
00:21:04Come on.
00:21:05Come on.
00:21:05Come on.
00:21:05Come on.
00:21:07Yeah, baby.
00:21:10Yes.
00:21:11Yes.
00:21:12Woo.
00:21:14Yes.
00:21:14Get the gun.
00:21:15Get the gun.
00:21:16Get the gun.
00:21:18I'm feeling fired up.
00:21:20We haven't eaten in six freaking days, so let's freaking go.
00:21:24Oh, thank you, go.
00:21:26We have not lost a single challenge that we've been in together.
00:21:32You too?
00:21:33Yeah.
00:21:33Yeah.
00:21:33Amazing.
00:21:36Who went through?
00:21:36Matt and Max and Laura just got first.
00:21:40I hear Matt, Laura, and Max.
00:21:42I'm trying to get it higher.
00:21:44My thought is we have to make this now because we need that rabbit.
00:21:49It's there, set.
00:21:50Let's try again with the log.
00:21:52Hold this.
00:21:52Okay.
00:21:53I know that there's still that second place food option.
00:21:56And then we just got to bait it if this works.
00:21:57We continue to set our trap, but we had to readjust a few times.
00:22:04Here, hold this down.
00:22:04Hold this down.
00:22:05Hold this down.
00:22:05Hold this down.
00:22:06Good to go.
00:22:08Use it up.
00:22:10It's not as good.
00:22:11Trigger.
00:22:13It's in the air.
00:22:14It goes up.
00:22:15We've got to reset.
00:22:15We've got to reset to get the baits.
00:22:16Clear.
00:22:17And we are off to the races.
00:22:19If we wouldn't have had those tiny little mishaps, we would be in first place.
00:22:23Well before the A team.
00:22:25Bait.
00:22:26Bait.
00:22:27We bait it.
00:22:28And then we book it.
00:22:30Yes!
00:22:31We just got a rabbit.
00:22:38It feels good to be a winner.
00:22:41Coming in second feels really good.
00:22:43Good job, guys.
00:22:44I've just got more food.
00:22:45I've got more energy.
00:22:46And I've just got more confidence.
00:22:48Oh, it feels good.
00:22:49It feels good.
00:22:50Our camp continues to succeed.
00:22:52Hell yeah, we're going to do it.
00:22:53It wasn't first, but we're sure not going home.
00:22:55Someone's going home tomorrow.
00:22:58Not us!
00:23:00Come on.
00:23:01For fuck's sake.
00:23:08Two camps have completed the spring snare challenge, claiming the first place goat and second place rabbit.
00:23:15Okay, tension off.
00:23:16I got this end.
00:23:17To avoid going to elimination tomorrow, Darren and Kayla face off against Trish, Jamie, and Suzanne, working to successfully trigger their trap.
00:23:26Okay, that's it.
00:23:28Cool.
00:23:28Is it the tree's not strong enough?
00:23:33That sapling's not the best sapling to pick up the weight of the log off the ground.
00:23:38If it's not strong enough...
00:23:39I don't think the tree is strong enough.
00:23:40Could someone hold this down, please?
00:23:41I need to create more tension on this trap.
00:23:44So right now, I'm moving the paracord back to the base of the sapling to create more tension.
00:23:50I'm just going to reset it.
00:23:51Food is off the table for us, but we still have the ability to come in third.
00:23:55I don't want to have to do an elimination challenge.
00:23:58Got it on this end.
00:24:00Okay.
00:24:05Third time we set our snare, we get it.
00:24:08I got the reset.
00:24:09Okay, you reset.
00:24:10All we can focus on is not being the last camp.
00:24:13We reset it.
00:24:15We crush our muscles as fast as we can.
00:24:19We throw that meat in there.
00:24:21Okay.
00:24:25All right, go.
00:24:29Woo-hoo!
00:24:30Woo!
00:24:31Yeah!
00:24:32Get some, get some, get some.
00:24:33We hit it last.
00:24:34That's all right.
00:24:34Yeah.
00:24:35Oh, yeah.
00:24:35Yeah!
00:24:36Oh, yeah!
00:24:37Give me some.
00:24:38Oh, yeah.
00:24:39Get the f***ing kick ass.
00:24:41Proud of us.
00:24:42And it was just two of us.
00:24:43I feel really good about how we performed in this competition today, and, hey, neither of
00:24:48us are going home yet.
00:24:50No elimination for us.
00:24:51That was really fun.
00:24:52That's what matters.
00:24:53Yeah.
00:24:54It has to be retied because this is too long.
00:24:57It won't, it won't miss it.
00:24:58Okay, that's cool.
00:24:58We're f***ing last, dude.
00:25:00We're not last.
00:25:01We've known if we were last.
00:25:02Oh!
00:25:04Oh!
00:25:05Oh!
00:25:05I hear people celebrating, and I know it.
00:25:09I've been here before.
00:25:11I'm telling you, there's nobody else out here.
00:25:14We're f***ing last.
00:25:15Oh, my God.
00:25:16Are we serious?
00:25:17Bro.
00:25:17I look, and there's nobody else here.
00:25:20It's just us.
00:25:22This means we're going to elimination.
00:25:25It's not the end of the road for all of us.
00:25:27No, just somebody.
00:25:30Today, we didn't communicate with each other, and now we're dead last.
00:25:34We're heading to elimination.
00:25:36That's sad.
00:25:37That is what it is.
00:25:39I'm sad.
00:25:40It's some bodice in this world.
00:25:41This f***ing sucks, dude.
00:25:43Walk of shame.
00:25:44This f***ing sucks.
00:25:45It's emotional for me because I hate losing.
00:25:48Let's go.
00:25:49Let's get back, guys.
00:25:50I hate the thought of this being my potential last part on this challenge.
00:25:57I'm not ready to leave.
00:26:07Woo!
00:26:08Bringing it home.
00:26:09Oh, my God.
00:26:09Today is a good day.
00:26:13We literally brought home the meat.
00:26:15This goat puts us back in this challenge.
00:26:18We had to get this.
00:26:19This right now, this is more than their fish.
00:26:21For sure.
00:26:22Everyone's fish combined would not equal this.
00:26:24We're the only group out here right now without a fishing asset.
00:26:28We've got to get this process.
00:26:29We've got to get to work.
00:26:29You know, we'll get it skinned out.
00:26:31Yep.
00:26:31Get the meat going.
00:26:32Yep.
00:26:32Tonight is going to be a feast, but not until we get our work done.
00:26:36As we process an entire goat.
00:26:39Is that one?
00:26:41Currently, I am working on putting together a teepee so we can smoke our big win today.
00:26:49Last time I made a smoker was when I was a mentor to some fans.
00:26:55That's awesome.
00:26:56I was able to process an entire warthog and then preserve it for 21 days.
00:27:05These reeds are amazing for what we need them for, which is tying off the rack on my smoker.
00:27:13So by the end here, hopefully this looks like a meat Christmas tree.
00:27:16It suspends above the fire, and that smoke's going to hit all of that meat and slowly and
00:27:22surely suck the moisture out of it, harden it up, and make it so we can eat it for a long time.
00:27:27I need to go get some paper bark to put all the way around it so we can really get that smoke going in there.
00:27:33There's been other last one standing competitions where people didn't prioritize their meat process.
00:27:39It's a little bit off.
00:27:41It's like a whole channel of just green meat.
00:27:44If you do it right and you can keep it dry, this meat here can last us for a long time.
00:27:54That is absolutely beautiful.
00:27:57Cheers to success.
00:28:00We definitely have a target on our back.
00:28:05We're the team to beat, and that's kind of how it goes.
00:28:07It's not survival good.
00:28:08It's like, good, good.
00:28:10Good, good.
00:28:15I'll just process the rabbit here.
00:28:17You know, it's not a goat, but it ain't nothing.
00:28:20We are more than happy just to have this rabbit because we know we can catch fish.
00:28:24We know we can find currants.
00:28:26There's a liver.
00:28:27It's basically nature's multivitamin.
00:28:30This rabbit gives our camp a little more oomph.
00:28:33Yes.
00:28:34Oh my god, Joanne, that smells so good.
00:28:35It smells like oven-roasted chicken.
00:28:41We're killing it.
00:28:42This is what victory looks like.
00:28:48Ooh, did we already pick this berry bush?
00:28:53Yummy, yummy, yummy.
00:28:55Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy.
00:28:57We didn't win any food today, so we've come to pick our food.
00:29:01Better than nothing.
00:29:03At least we're not going to elimination tomorrow.
00:29:06Amen.
00:29:08It's getting wilder and wilder as the days go by.
00:29:17Next up for this camp is an elimination challenge, so I know I need fuel.
00:29:23I'm pretty sure these are black currants.
00:29:25I just tasted one.
00:29:27It's delicious.
00:29:28I'm going to grab as much as I can and bring them back to camp.
00:29:32I'm not going to be greedy.
00:29:33My campmates are my competitors, but I just got to get my game face on and try to think a couple steps ahead.
00:29:40I got some currants.
00:29:43Oh, nice.
00:29:44Some black currants.
00:29:45Did you guys find any yet?
00:29:46No, it worked.
00:29:46Not just yet.
00:29:47I'm going to focus on water and making truce.
00:29:49We can eat them now if you want.
00:29:50Jamie and I, neither one of us trust Trish.
00:29:56It's good sugar and they're sweet.
00:29:58I need water real quick first.
00:30:00From the previous last one standing, Trish felt that maybe the meat had been contaminated somehow intentionally by a fellow campmate.
00:30:20I'm currently assuming that my partner is trying to sabotage me because we're going to an elimination challenge.
00:30:27I got nothing.
00:30:30I've offered up some of these black currants.
00:30:33Nobody wants them.
00:30:34They don't trust me.
00:30:36So I am going to eat them and hopefully not die.
00:30:42Maybe they think I'm resistant to the poison.
00:30:45More for me, I guess.
00:30:47That's all right.
00:30:47Tomorrow, they could be part of the 13 losers.
00:31:00That rabbit was delicious last night.
00:31:07Oh, God, it was so good.
00:31:08I'm still thinking about it.
00:31:09Yeah.
00:31:11I'm going to go walk upriver with a bow.
00:31:15Yesterday, we won.
00:31:17We got that rabbit.
00:31:18Knowing that Matt, Max, and Laura got that goat, I really want to get myself a hog.
00:31:23Most important thing is, being quiet, don't miss.
00:31:28I hunt pigs pretty much every month at home.
00:31:33Patrick has a bow, and I think he really wants to score an animal with the bow.
00:31:38I'll see you guys.
00:31:40Good luck, man.
00:31:40As a hunter, of course I want to go hunt.
00:31:44It's kind of a sit back and wait situation.
00:31:47I know my skills firsthand.
00:31:49I know what I'm able to accomplish.
00:31:51I took down the first big game animal and last one standing.
00:31:55This is like twice the size of a warthog.
00:31:59We have to keep on top of our game every chance we get to take on the other teams, to keep winning.
00:32:06And this is how you do it, by being proactive.
00:32:10That's fresh piss right there, definitely from a hog.
00:32:40It looks like I'm sleeping.
00:32:45I'm actually studying.
00:32:47I'm going through my little book that I put together, and I'm looking at the pages of different versions of snare traps.
00:32:55And then deadfall traps.
00:32:58And then bird traps.
00:33:00I have a level of anxiety.
00:33:03I desperately do not want to be eliminated.
00:33:06Whatever happens today, I know that we're giving it our all.
00:33:09Yeah.
00:33:10Hopefully we're standing here.
00:33:11That's my preference.
00:33:13I'd prefer it be you and me.
00:33:14Definitely.
00:33:15Thanks for letting me know.
00:33:16Appreciate it.
00:33:16Jamie and Suzanne, this is their first time being up for elimination, and I've come back from this before.
00:33:24I feel that they're going to let their nerves get the best of them, and I've got a handle on mine.
00:33:30I can control it.
00:33:31Mail!
00:33:32Well, because your camp failed, one of you will be eliminated.
00:33:38Return to the map where you will compete head to head.
00:33:42Here we go, man.
00:33:43Here we go.
00:33:45If I was to be the one that got eliminated right now, I'd be really upset.
00:33:49And rough.
00:33:50But that's not going to happen, because I'm the wild man.
00:33:53I'm going to blank out everyone else, concentrating on me and what I'm doing.
00:33:57I'm here to win, and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
00:34:01Ready?
00:34:02All right.
00:34:03Let's go.
00:34:04This challenge is such a rollercoaster of emotions.
00:34:08But I am completely focused on the task at hand.
00:34:13I know my skill set is good enough.
00:34:16I'm certain that if I went head to head with Trish, I would beat her.
00:34:21Get this show on the road.
00:34:23I'm not going to be an easy takedown.
00:34:25I'm a fighter.
00:34:26It's in my blood.
00:34:27It's in my bones.
00:34:28I'm a fighter when I have to fight.
00:34:31Today, each survivalist must build a swinging arm pot holder strong enough to suspend a full pot of water.
00:34:40In primitive survival, bushcrafted pot hangers can prevent hot water spills and serious burn injuries.
00:34:47For this elimination challenge, survivalists are provided a limited amount of cordage to bushcraft a swinging arm pot hanger, which consists of a grounded anchor pole cut with precise notches to raise and lower a swinging arm.
00:35:05To complete the challenge, competitors must boil a pot of water, then raise and swing it away from the fire to cool.
00:35:13The last survivalists to complete this task will be extracted immediately.
00:35:19Your challenge starts now.
00:35:21Good luck.
00:35:21Good luck.
00:35:21Bye.
00:35:24Growing up in Scotland, it's very, very competitive.
00:35:28It's made me strong.
00:35:28It's made me fierce.
00:35:30It's made me undefeatable.
00:35:33And I'm going to go this in the bar.
00:35:34I'm going to go this way.
00:36:04So right now, the task is I have to build a pot hanger.
00:36:07It has to be designed a certain way.
00:36:09So I'm looking for a stick to stabilize the arm.
00:36:13And I'm looking for something really long, but also strong.
00:36:17I know how to work wood.
00:36:19I know how to light fires.
00:36:20And I know how to boil water as well.
00:36:22So I've definitely got the skills needed.
00:36:25And here we go.
00:36:26I'm watching my opponents.
00:36:29This is going to be the base piece.
00:36:31The stakes are so high right now that I'm nervous.
00:36:35I really am holding out hope that I'll be able to pull this off today.
00:36:39I'm trying to figure out my notching right now.
00:36:42Notches in the anchor pole are used to keep the pot hanger swinging arm in place, allowing
00:36:48the survivalists to rapidly heat or cool their water.
00:36:52This is my center pole.
00:36:53I bury it.
00:36:54One of my biggest strengths is being analytical.
00:36:58I'm taking everything that I've learned from all my other challenges, from all my studies,
00:37:03and applying them real time.
00:37:06I'm trying to make these notches nice and flat so they won't interfere with the stability of the arm.
00:37:13So on the backside, I need a cooling notch for the stick.
00:37:18This is one really important because it's got to be able to cool away from the fire and sit here.
00:37:24I want as many notches on here as possible for fire control, for temperature control.
00:37:30I'm just cutting the notches in.
00:37:32If there's anything wrong with them, the cooking arm could slip and that could put out my fire.
00:37:37The arm needs to fit directly into the notches without any problems.
00:37:42The issue is I can't figure out how to get this, like, stick stabilized in here.
00:37:47What the f*** did you get this f*** thing to stay?
00:37:50What am I doing wrong?
00:37:52I'm sure that I don't have all the skills that some of these folks have out here, but I can figure things out.
00:37:58My strategy is just to be slow and steady.
00:38:01Just trying to stay calm and not freak out.
00:38:04This is the right place to put it.
00:38:07I'm really confident right now.
00:38:08I just, I need to focus.
00:38:11I need to be fast.
00:38:14I have to bury this deep enough that it holds its own weight and the pot weight.
00:38:19As learned from the previous challenge, there's no room for mistakes.
00:38:24This has to be correct the first time around because if it has to be redone, there's no time.
00:38:30I'm working on my swinging arm.
00:38:33This one might be it.
00:38:34I'm not the strongest and I'm not the fastest.
00:38:38So I'm relying on my ability to analyze situations.
00:38:42So I'm going to square this off so it can sit in that notch.
00:38:46My brain is my superpower.
00:38:48I'm going to score it a little to help it sit better.
00:38:49I am really relying on physics for this stuff.
00:38:57Right now I'm just measuring out the twine for my arm to be secured to the pole.
00:39:02It needs to balance and I might have got it wrong.
00:39:08Oh, for f***ing sake.
00:39:10My upright pose is putting my whole thing off balance.
00:39:13So what I'm going to have to do is try and find a better one of these, straighter.
00:39:22I'm having to restart my anchor.
00:39:25This is definitely putting me behind quite a bit.
00:39:30I practice survival and bushcraft back home.
00:39:33But I've never had to do this in a rush against time with pressure.
00:39:38Right, that's going to work. That'll work.
00:39:40So I've found my second anchor and it seems as though it's going to do the job.
00:39:44It's thick, strong and long.
00:39:46Okay, notches on this side.
00:39:48And I'm going to cut notches in it and it looks as though it could work.
00:39:53Still trying to get this swing arm figured out here.
00:39:57I'm going slow and methodical.
00:39:59And I know that if I go fast, I'm going to totally mess it up.
00:40:03I'm figuring it out a little.
00:40:05I did the only thing that I know how to do and that's just focus and block everybody out, block everything out.
00:40:12All of my emotion, all of my nerves.
00:40:14I am working on making sure that I have the correct angles.
00:40:21If I don't get these angles correct, it'll spin and drop.
00:40:26I feel really good about what I'm doing right now.
00:40:29I might even finish this first.
00:40:31All right, I need my cord edge on my pot.
00:40:34I want it to hang.
00:40:35And I need to make sure that each element of this is as stable as possible so I don't lose any water.
00:40:43I hope this is not an optical illusion, but currently it looks pretty good.
00:40:47Suzanne is the first to construct her swinging arm pot hanger.
00:40:51Stuff to feed the fire.
00:40:53To complete the challenge, she must start a fire, then bring a pot of water to a boil
00:40:58before swinging the arm away from the fire, allowing the pot to cool.
00:41:01I'm behind right now, but I had to change my upright pole.
00:41:06I'm definitely feeling the lack of calories, especially since this is my fourth challenge.
00:41:11It's like being in a fight.
00:41:12I can't wait, but I don't want to win.
00:41:17Suzanne, she's tougher than I had expected.
00:41:21It looks like she just dissects the situation and made it work.
00:41:25I feel like that might be good.
00:41:26Every second in this challenge counts.
00:41:29I try to correct the wrongs and fix the problems without having to repeat them.
00:41:36So I'm taking it real slow just now and getting this absolutely perfect.
00:41:40Time's ticking.
00:41:42I forgot to put a cooler notch on that side.
00:41:46Another mistake.
00:41:47It's just stupid.
00:41:49I don't want to go home.
00:41:50It's stupid, man.
00:41:55It's just stupid.
00:41:57I had to pull the main anchor out because I forgot to put a cooler notch in the other side.
00:42:04The task is I have to build a pot hanger for this elimination challenge.
00:42:08Looks like Trish is just setting up right now.
00:42:11And Suzanne has got hers completed in the ground.
00:42:15Here's my fire stuff.
00:42:16Perfect.
00:42:17I need more stuff to feed the fire.
00:42:20Time for some fire.
00:42:22Beautiful.
00:42:31Lovely, beautiful fire.
00:42:33I just need you to boil some water for me.
00:42:36I'm really confident at this stage this looks like a really good working pot hanger.
00:42:43Finally got it right.
00:42:46Need to get some cordage for the pot itself.
00:42:50I really don't know where I am, but I could be second because I smell some fire.
00:42:54Right, it's time to get some firewood and stuff.
00:42:59I'm not going to lie, this part's a little scary.
00:43:01Tremendously stressful.
00:43:03If I screw this up, I have to start over with my stick and my fire.
00:43:12Do not spill the water.
00:43:16Drop, everybody's happy.
00:43:18All right.
00:43:19We're all happy.
00:43:21Everybody's happy.
00:43:22We're not swinging.
00:43:24Holy crap.
00:43:27All right.
00:43:28Just need this fire to make this boil.
00:43:30Suzanne is the first to construct her swinging arm pot hanger and position her pot over the fire.
00:43:37To complete the challenge, she must bring her water to a boil, then move her swinging arm to the cooling position.
00:43:44That means I just got to keep feeding the fire.
00:43:46I have my fire going.
00:43:47I haven't had to redo anything.
00:43:49Everything's looking great.
00:43:51I feel confident that I might actually come in first.
00:43:55Okay, just no mistakes.
00:43:57No mistakes.
00:43:58I'm going to see if these notches are right.
00:44:00I'm going to try to, I'm going to try to see if this will balance somewhere on here.
00:44:06Suzanne is two steps ahead.
00:44:09I got the hard part sort of done.
00:44:13And I'm still here messing with building materials.
00:44:16If I can get this fire going, then I'm definitely on the home stretch.
00:44:27Starting fires is what I'm really good at.
00:44:29So I'm just taking some of this paper bark, rummaging it up, getting some oxygen in there.
00:44:34There we go.
00:44:35Yes.
00:44:36I'm trying to make sure that my cordage doesn't slip down this pole.
00:44:45And so I'm putting a few notches in it.
00:44:47I'm nervous.
00:44:48I am behind those guys.
00:44:50But I stay calm.
00:44:52That might work.
00:44:54You should never give up.
00:44:55Never doubt yourself.
00:44:56Just stay focused and fight.
00:44:58Right now I'm going to go collect some sticks to make a fire.
00:45:06This is good.
00:45:22This is lower.
00:45:23That sucks.
00:45:25This is lower, but mine started boiling sooner.
00:45:27So one of the two of us is going to be first.
00:45:30As long as I'm not last.
00:45:32Little bitty, tiny bubbles.
00:45:34First evidence.
00:45:36This is so exciting.
00:45:38Suzanne's doing all right.
00:45:39She's got wee bubbles at the bottom of her pot.
00:45:42Trish hasn't got a fire going, so that's a good sign.
00:45:50Yeah, it's got fire.
00:45:52There are small, tiny bubbles on the bottom surface of the pot.
00:45:58So I'm just trying to get the fire as hot as possible.
00:46:00I'm throwing some of these leaves in there to get it up and running.
00:46:04I'm excited.
00:46:05I'm not going to lie.
00:46:06Yes.
00:46:08I am not on the home stretch.
00:46:09I am right in the beginning.
00:46:11Everybody else has fire, and I hear bubbles.
00:46:14Everybody's talking about bubbles, which to me indicates that they're almost there.
00:46:18It's almost ready to boil.
00:46:20Oh, you should see my bubbles.
00:46:23Oh.
00:46:23You want to see my bubbles?
00:46:24No, I don't want to, no.
00:46:25Okay.
00:46:26I just had to find out what was going on with competition.
00:46:30I'm not paying attention to that.
00:46:32Really close to this right now.
00:46:34I can feel it.
00:46:34Oh, just tone it down over there.
00:46:37I'm doing really well.
00:46:39I'm doing really well.
00:46:40Not the jute.
00:46:41Not the jute.
00:46:42I'm desperately trying to keep the flames below the jute, below the handle of the pot, because
00:46:48when it whips up and over, and the wind hits it, it touches the jute, and I can see little
00:46:52sizzles on the jute.
00:46:53I do not want the pot to drop.
00:46:56I should have wet the jute before I started, but I wasn't thinking.
00:46:59I saw little burns in the jute on the side from the flames licking over it, and I know
00:47:04from experience that if I didn't figure something out quickly, that it was going to burn and dump
00:47:10everything, and I would have to start all over again.
00:47:12I'm going to wet my jute.
00:47:13Just figuring out those problems before they arise is why I go slow and calculated and methodical.
00:47:20I'm wetting my jute, hoping that it doesn't burn.
00:47:26I have steam.
00:47:27I need to get it to a full rolling boil.
00:47:35I see the simmer, and I see the steam, and I see a pop or two of bubble, and then I don't
00:47:39have it, and I look underneath, and the fire keeps not staying exactly as high as I want.
00:47:44I got to try to keep the flames down here and not up over the top, so it doesn't burn the
00:47:49structure.
00:47:50I'm afraid to make it too high, because when it gets too high and goes over the edge, it
00:47:54starts to burn the jute.
00:47:55So I need to analyze everything and, like, take a step back and do problem solving.
00:48:01If I make a mistake, it's over for me.
00:48:02I see the wee bubbles, and I need them to turn into a rolling boil.
00:48:13So I'm just shoving some leaves under there, making the fire really big.
00:48:17This isn't the key.
00:48:18I need to build it up.
00:48:19I need to build it up.
00:48:20Oh, my God.
00:48:21I think Jamie's going to actually boil his pour mine, which is fine, but he might also
00:48:26burn his jute.
00:48:27I am not concerned whatsoever.
00:48:28I'm actually happy because it's boiling quicker.
00:48:30There's bubbles.
00:48:31I definitely don't want my jute to burn, so I'm going to try to protect that.
00:48:37I want a big fire.
00:48:38I want a big fire.
00:48:39Look at this.
00:48:40That's a big fire.
00:48:41That's a bag fire.
00:48:42As soon as I saw those bubbles get bigger and stay consistently, I thought, that's it.
00:48:49I've won this.
00:48:50This is looking good.
00:48:51Oh.
00:48:52Oh.
00:48:53Oh.
00:48:54Oh.
00:48:55My pots just fell.
00:48:58This could be a fatal mistake.
00:49:00Oh.
00:49:01Look at this.
00:49:05This is looking good.
00:49:10Oh.
00:49:11Oh.
00:49:12Oh.
00:49:13My pots just fell.
00:49:17Jamie, Trish, and Suzanne compete to make a swinging arm pot hanger and bring their water
00:49:22to a boil.
00:49:24Whoever finishes last will be eliminated from the outback.
00:49:28Jamie's strategy to make a large fire suffered a setback.
00:49:32The string that I'd attached round the pot started to burn and it just collapsed straight
00:49:38onto the fire.
00:49:39Good job.
00:49:40It burned evenly because it dumped straight onto the fire and it didn't put my fire out.
00:49:45Bob, this could definitely be disastrous.
00:49:48Suzanne was the first to hang her pot and get fire, but her water is heating slowly.
00:49:53I'm making sure the flames are under the pot, not over the pot so that does not happen.
00:49:57But the fire keeps not staying exactly as high as I want.
00:50:01And Trish, who was last, now has an opportunity to surge ahead.
00:50:06I'm not celebrating anybody's failure, that's for sure.
00:50:09But it's definitely a good thing for me.
00:50:14If I was to be the one that got eliminated right now, I'd be really upset.
00:50:19So I'm gonna bring it in so it's protected from the flames.
00:50:22I'm retying my twine, making sure to correct the error that I had before, making sure that the twine's not on the outside of the pot.
00:50:29My pot should still be quite hot.
00:50:32It keeps getting almost there and not boiling, damn it.
00:50:37I have to be careful.
00:50:38There's a fine line between too hot, break your cord.
00:50:41I'm afraid to make it too high because when it gets too high and goes over the edge, it starts to burn the jute.
00:50:47And I do not want my pot to drop like what I just saw happen over there to Jamie.
00:50:52I'm focusing on maintaining this fire and keeping it under this pot.
00:50:59My fire went out, I had to reset my fire twice, but I'm not giving up.
00:51:03I go slow and calculated and methodical.
00:51:06Not everything has to be done in haste.
00:51:09I'm trying to shield the flames from licking off the side of my jute.
00:51:13I hear bubbles.
00:51:15It's almost ready to boil.
00:51:18Oh my God.
00:51:20I did it!
00:51:22Trish was one of the last ones to get here.
00:51:26It looks as though she is moving her pot round to the cooling notch.
00:51:31Once a survivalist's water is boiling, the swinging arm must be reset on the cooling notch in order to complete the challenge.
00:51:39Holy .
00:51:41I can't believe this.
00:51:43I'm not eliminated.
00:51:53Oh my God.
00:51:55This is so intense.
00:51:56I don't cry.
00:51:57Ever.
00:51:58And just like being successful in this and like bailing myself out again from elimination.
00:52:06I'm ecstatic.
00:52:07These are tears of joy.
00:52:08All you guys that think I'm a coattail rider and I don't deserve to be here.
00:52:15Two times and back.
00:52:18With Trish secure, Jamie and Suzanne are fighting head to head to remain in the competition to become the last one standing.
00:52:26It's just me and Suzanne left.
00:52:28It's all or nothing here.
00:52:29I'm just trying to shove as many sticks in that fire to get the flames going.
00:52:34It's getting there.
00:52:35I can't see it.
00:52:36It's just about to go any minute now, any second.
00:52:39The sun is almost there.
00:52:41You can see the steam coming off the water.
00:52:43It is heavy simmer.
00:52:45Jamie's pot is almost directly sitting on the fire and mine is high up off the fire.
00:52:53I am taking the sticks that are on fire and moving them closer to the base of the pot so the flame hits right at the bottom of the pot instead of going over the side.
00:53:02Oh, I'm seeing the first bubbles.
00:53:05Hot damn.
00:53:06It's not huge bubbles, but it's rolling.
00:53:08Hot enough.
00:53:09Hot enough, please.
00:53:11It's bubbling.
00:53:12It's bubbling.
00:53:13There's some bubbles there.
00:53:14Oh, here we go.
00:53:15Oh, my God.
00:53:16Here we go.
00:53:17Okay, so I'm going to bring this back up.
00:53:32Yes.
00:53:33Finally.
00:53:34Rolling.
00:53:35I have to turn it and set it over here on the cooling notch.
00:53:40Both of their pots are at a rolling boil.
00:53:43The next survivalist to swing their water to the cooling notch will stay in the competition.
00:53:48If I make a mistake, it's over for me.
00:53:54Yay!
00:53:56You a f***ing dancer!
00:54:00Yes!
00:54:01Oh, my God.
00:54:02Did I just lose?
00:54:03I pulled through.
00:54:04I've managed to stay in the challenge another day.
00:54:07That was close.
00:54:08Yep.
00:54:09That was close.
00:54:10But I did it.
00:54:11I like Jamie, and I'm really happy that we're going to be moving forward together as a camp of two.
00:54:18Good job.
00:54:19I'm devastated.
00:54:20Deflated.
00:54:21Congratulations, Trish.
00:54:22I'm not ready to leave.
00:54:24I am so proud of everything I've done.
00:54:29I know we didn't start out warm and fuzzy.
00:54:31I thought you were kind of bossy.
00:54:33I am.
00:54:34I do not want this to be my last day.
00:54:36Good job, buddy.
00:54:37I'm trying to remember how many good things I did out here.
00:54:42Like, coming in third.
00:54:44So the paper bark should not burn in the very first challenge.
00:54:49Right after Laura?
00:54:50That's awesome.
00:54:52Yes!
00:54:56It was a great challenge just to put my skills up against the best of the best.
00:55:02And I'm a lot further up that ladder than I thought I was.
00:55:06I'm leaving the Outback with my head held high.
00:55:09I'll be back.
00:55:11With Suzanne's elimination, ten survivalists remain to compete for the title of Last One Standing.
00:55:19Now there was two.
00:55:21Did it.
00:55:22Well done.
00:55:23Did it, man.
00:55:24We're still here.
00:55:25Still in the game.
00:55:26I'm here to win.
00:55:27I've got to admit, it's not going to be easy.
00:55:29But I'll go in there with 110% effort.
00:55:32Give it my all.
00:55:33And that's all that me, my family and my country back home can ask for.
00:55:37Let's do it, man.
00:55:39It was going to be one of us today.
00:55:41I'm so happy it wasn't me.
00:55:43I'm not going to be an easy takedown.
00:55:45I'm a fighter.
00:55:46People should wonder, do I want to go up against her in an elimination challenge?
00:55:51Probably not.
00:56:07I'm out of water.
00:56:08I'm out of water.
00:56:18Oh, holy .
00:56:25Jermaine.
00:56:26Mm.
00:56:27Jermaine is really cautious and I get that, but from my experience, the best bet for you
00:56:52to do is to run up on them.
00:56:55They can move quick for maybe 200 yards, but after that, they're gassed.
00:57:02Though they typically avoid conflict, Australian feral boars will use their muscular 200-pound frames
00:57:09and razor-sharp 7-inch tusks to charge and slash their enemies when feeling threatened.
00:57:16He just ran up there.
00:57:23Go slower.
00:57:25Don't talk.
00:57:26Don't talk.
00:57:27Don't talk.
00:57:28Don't talk.
00:57:29Don't talk.
00:57:30Don't talk.
00:57:31Don't talk.
00:57:32He makes a large grunt.
00:57:46This is a warning from the boar that his next move is going to be to attack.
00:57:53I know how these animals act.
00:57:55We simply bide our time.
00:57:58That's patience.
00:58:00That's hunting.
00:58:01It's not.
00:58:02It's going to be to attack.
00:58:03This is the first time I've really started feeling frustration because he's not listening
00:58:16to me at all.
00:58:17You're not going to sneak up going so slow,
00:58:21and I feel like I'm getting held back.
00:58:29You, like, walk really slow with creep-like snails.
00:58:33That's not how you do it.
00:58:35The hogs are going to smell you a mile away.
00:58:37Oh, there's the sun.
00:58:48It's like, hey, people.
00:58:50We're just going for a walk.
00:58:52We'll come out.
00:58:56You know, it's not just losing a challenge
00:58:58that can take you out up here.
00:59:00It's the sun.
00:59:01It's the fatigue.
00:59:02It's the not taking in enough calories
00:59:05and then competing in the sun.
00:59:08Pretty hungry.
00:59:09Yeah.
00:59:10I'm someone who already came into this challenge pretty thin.
00:59:13I'm pretty much the leanest person here.
00:59:16So my number one priority
00:59:18is to make sure that I'm feeding myself
00:59:21so I have every chance of competing
00:59:25against people such as Matt.
00:59:28You want to walk on the,
00:59:30on one of these sides on the way up
00:59:32and look for fruits?
00:59:34That's a yabby den for sure.
00:59:36Mm-hmm.
00:59:37I think maybe doing a yabby hunt at night
00:59:41because they're very nocturnal.
00:59:42Yeah.
00:59:44A species of crawfish,
00:59:46yabbies were part of the Indigenous Australian diet
00:59:49going back 28,000 years.
00:59:52With edible claw and tail flesh,
00:59:54a single yabby can deliver 10 grams of protein
00:59:57in just 50 calories of meat.
00:59:59This is a fig, yeah?
01:00:01Yeah.
01:00:02Look, right there is one ripe fig.
01:00:05Holy .
01:00:06That's amazing.
01:00:07I'm getting you.
01:00:14One fig.
01:00:15They exist.
01:00:16This smells so good.
01:00:18It ain't much.
01:00:20That is one perfectly ripe, delicious-looking fig.
01:00:25It's going to be a nice little snack.
01:00:27Sorry.
01:00:28I'm very excited.
01:00:29Eat half of it.
01:00:30Try it.
01:00:31Oh, really?
01:00:32Really, really?
01:00:33Me first?
01:00:34Oh, I'm scared.
01:00:35It's going to like...
01:00:36What?
01:00:39Oh, .
01:00:41Sorry.
01:00:42It was bugs.
01:00:47God damn it.
01:00:50I'm so sorry.
01:00:53It's like one of those confetti cards that you open
01:00:56and just...
01:00:57Got a load of bugs in my mouth, in my throat.
01:01:02Well, it doesn't fly away.
01:01:03I'm still going to eat.
01:01:04Are you still trying it?
01:01:05It still tastes amazing.
01:01:06What?
01:01:07Well, give me a piece now.
01:01:08It's not infested with bugs.
01:01:10Mmm.
01:01:11Mmm.
01:01:12Mmm.
01:01:13Mmm.
01:01:14Mmm.
01:01:15Mmm.
01:01:16Mmm.
01:01:17Mmm.
01:01:18Mmm.
01:01:19Mmm.
01:01:20Mmm.
01:01:21Mmm.
01:01:22Mmm.
01:01:23Mmm.
01:01:24Mmm.
01:01:25Mmm.
01:01:26Mmm.
01:01:27Mmm.
01:01:28Mmm.
01:01:29Mmm.
01:01:30Mmm.
01:01:31I missed a shot on that hog early this morning.
01:01:53That's not going to happen again.
01:01:55Now it's time to use that hunting asset and bring down a hog and bring home the bacon.
01:02:00We all want to eat pig, so we need to send the most experienced person out there.
01:02:04It just makes the most sense.
01:02:06Jermaine, I think you should go because you have the most experience of anybody here
01:02:10with hogs besides Matt.
01:02:12Yes, ma'am.
01:02:13I wouldn't be able to keep up with you.
01:02:14I wouldn't be able to keep up with you, Patrick, if you, if we go because you move too fast.
01:02:19I won't figure it out.
01:02:20I've killed more hogs.
01:02:22I'm not worried about you killing a hog.
01:02:24I'm worried about you being able to get up on one.
01:02:28You're worried about me getting up on a hog?
01:02:31Yeah, just because, like, you didn't want to move quick and stuff.
01:02:34Dude, first time I've ever seen this.
01:02:36Dude, you're getting, like, really defensive and you don't need to.
01:02:40You're the one getting defensive.
01:02:42I'm just saying drop it.
01:02:44Both of you, please.
01:02:45Oh, my God.
01:02:55You're the one getting defensive.
01:02:56I'm just saying drop it.
01:02:58Both of you, please.
01:03:01We need to eat.
01:03:03We want to be successful.
01:03:05We need to check our egos at the door.
01:03:07The other team sat down and eat three pounds of goat.
01:03:11They're gonna crush us because they're eating way more.
01:03:16And we're just eating fish.
01:03:23Oh, it's time for us to hunt.
01:03:26It is bright and early.
01:03:28And these savages...
01:03:31We're about to go on a hunt.
01:03:34You know, I know we're ahead because we got that big goat.
01:03:37When you have the calories to go get it, you gotta go get it.
01:03:40So they're about to go hunt and hopefully bring home the bacon.
01:03:43Good luck, guys.
01:03:44All right, thanks, Mike.
01:03:45Cheers.
01:03:47Before that sun comes up, we're walking down this river, up on this hillside.
01:03:51If you were to think going on a hunt sounds fun, it is.
01:03:54But it is dangerous as hell.
01:03:56Boar is pound for pound one of the toughest and strongest and most dangerous animals on
01:04:01a planet.
01:04:02So to go on a hunt is actually putting your life at risk.
01:04:06You can see there's some baby...
01:04:07Yeah, they're like the perfect eating side.
01:04:08Perfect little baby hog tracks in here.
01:04:09Mm-hmm.
01:04:10Quite a few of them.
01:04:11Oh, mother .
01:04:12God.
01:04:13The orange city.
01:04:14No way.
01:04:15Jesus.
01:04:16There's a nest.
01:04:17I mean, that's a huge nest.
01:04:18It's so dramatic.
01:04:19Well that's bizarre.
01:04:20That's a creepy alien .
01:04:22Can't be an emu.
01:04:37They're built a nest.
01:04:39It walks, it's walking on thehogog day.
01:04:46It's a little bit of a mess.
01:04:47It walks, it's walking on the ground.
01:04:50It mowed all this down right here.
01:04:52It's been doing it for years, it looks like.
01:04:54Wow.
01:04:55You haven't seen something like that either?
01:04:56Never.
01:04:57Some kind of bird.
01:04:58A regular bird would have a lot of feathers, I would imagine.
01:05:02If it is massive, like end of day's bird, that bird could carry you away.
01:05:07A pterodactyl, for sure.
01:05:09It almost has to be a pterodactyl, a thunderbird.
01:05:12So one of the reasons I love to go out, hunt, and explore the area
01:05:16is you find things you've never seen before.
01:05:19Sometimes things you can't explain.
01:05:21This nest is seven feet across and made with little blades of grass.
01:05:24It is not woven together with big branches like an average eagle nest would be.
01:05:29It makes no sense.
01:05:30It looks like something bigger than even an ostrich would make.
01:05:34Emus lay their eggs, you know, in the grass.
01:05:36They don't lay their eggs on a nest like that.
01:05:38So whatever this thing is, it must be big.
01:05:43This is insane.
01:05:44There's no, there's no, like, there's no, like, feathers.
01:05:49There's no, no poop.
01:05:52It's like the cleanest nest I've ever seen.
01:05:55It's gigantic.
01:05:55It's like, we're like a seven foot.
01:05:57It smells real nice.
01:05:59It is super weird.
01:06:00Expect the unexpected, I guess.
01:06:02If it's a bird, you'd think you'd see it like, like a feather or two.
01:06:06Like, hmm, weird.
01:06:09Yeah, we haven't eaten in a couple days, so we need to.
01:06:21Yeah, I was thinking, like, we'll go up to that rock, do a bit of fishing.
01:06:25Do you want to set up the rods and we'll go?
01:06:27Yeah, let's do it.
01:06:31I've been in five challenges in seven days.
01:06:35Suzanne's gone.
01:06:36Camp has been a little less tense.
01:06:39I've just proven myself twice.
01:06:40I've dug myself out of the elimination grave.
01:06:43And I deserve to be here.
01:06:47Jersey strong, baby.
01:06:49Any beat?
01:06:50The bait's in here.
01:06:51It's wrapped up.
01:06:53It stinks, dude.
01:06:55Oh, holy look at this.
01:06:59Lovely.
01:07:00Oh, no.
01:07:02It's maggots, dude.
01:07:04I don't mess with maggots.
01:07:06Holy can smell that.
01:07:08Whoa.
01:07:09I don't want to hear them squirming.
01:07:11I don't want to smell them.
01:07:12I don't want to look at them.
01:07:14I don't even want to hear the word maggot.
01:07:16Like, it is disgusting.
01:07:17That is how badly I want to be the last one standing.
01:07:21It's important for us to keep refueling.
01:07:23No matter what the method is,
01:07:26no matter what we have to do,
01:07:27that is mission number one.
01:07:30Feed ourselves.
01:07:31They're all leaving.
01:07:33No, no, no, no, no.
01:07:34You're bait.
01:07:34You cannot leave.
01:07:35This is by far the most disgusting thing
01:07:38I've ever done in my life.
01:07:40What, you want to use it?
01:07:40We have to.
01:07:41Go for it.
01:07:42Get it on your hook.
01:07:45Oh, God.
01:07:47I'm going to put him on this hook.
01:07:51Okay, so he's on the hook.
01:07:59Got one.
01:08:01Yes!
01:08:02Here we go!
01:08:03Oh, Jamie.
01:08:05That stink bait definitely paid off.
01:08:08As soon as you throw the maggot in,
01:08:10they're just banged,
01:08:11because the fish absolutely love them.
01:08:15Like Trish?
01:08:15Hell yeah.
01:08:19Seconds after putting that hook in the line,
01:08:21I catch a fish.
01:08:23Maggot magic.
01:08:28Bang!
01:08:29Another fish.
01:08:30We've unlocked it.
01:08:31Maggots are the way to go.
01:08:33That is what the fish want.
01:08:35And what the fish want,
01:08:36they're going to get.
01:08:37Oh, my God.
01:08:41The smell is so bad.
01:08:43But I'm going for last one standing,
01:08:45so if this is what I got to do,
01:08:47this is what I got to do.
01:08:48Kayla and I,
01:09:00you know,
01:09:00we've been thinking about
01:09:01maybe doing a yabby hunt at night.
01:09:05Yabbies are like big crawdads.
01:09:07They're very nocturnal,
01:09:08and they come up into the shallows
01:09:09and scavenge.
01:09:10So we think we're going to build some torches.
01:09:14There's a type of tree here
01:09:15that the termites hollow out
01:09:17while it's still alive
01:09:18and just leaves, like,
01:09:19a thin little shell.
01:09:21I think it's the same tree
01:09:22that the aboriginals
01:09:23built their didgeridus from.
01:09:25Let's hollow the whole way up.
01:09:27See the bark pattern?
01:09:29I can tell it's that different species.
01:09:30It's all twisty
01:09:31like hardwood on the outside.
01:09:33I wanted to pack a hollow log
01:09:41completely full of grass.
01:09:43Outer wood can be something
01:09:45to slow the burning of the grass down.
01:09:47They're like a gumwood
01:09:48that has a lot of resin
01:09:49that burns really bright.
01:09:51Just a theory,
01:09:52and I hope it works.
01:09:54Nice and hollow.
01:09:56Might be able to make a torch out of this.
01:10:03Let's go.
01:10:11Yo!
01:10:12Any luck?
01:10:13Yeah, no luck.
01:10:15We saw the most gigantic nest
01:10:17of who knows...
01:10:19Like Arnia or something.
01:10:20Really?
01:10:21But it's a ground nest,
01:10:23and it's like six
01:10:24or almost seven feet tall
01:10:25of all stacked up grass.
01:10:28Like, is it a emu?
01:10:30It was a really ambitious emu,
01:10:32if it was.
01:10:32Plucked the grass
01:10:33from all in the front
01:10:34and brought it up
01:10:35and made this nest for years.
01:10:37There's been...
01:10:37Unbelievably huge.
01:10:38Really?
01:10:40And it has no feathers,
01:10:41no poop in it.
01:10:43It's clean.
01:10:43It doesn't smell like anything.
01:10:45It's weird.
01:10:45Like, if it was a bird,
01:10:46you'd think it'd be a bird feather.
01:10:47Totally.
01:10:48Huh.
01:10:51News of Laura
01:10:52and Matt's nest discovery
01:10:54has raised concerns,
01:10:55and the local Australian bushman
01:10:58insist on speaking to their camp.
01:11:02Guys.
01:11:06What?
01:11:08That nest?
01:11:10Don't say a word about it.
01:11:13Why?
01:11:15Because it's a primate.
01:11:17It's not food.
01:11:19It's a primate?
01:11:21What?
01:11:22It's...
01:11:22It's...
01:11:23Yeah, don't say a word.
01:11:25Don't talk about it.
01:11:26Don't tell anyone.
01:11:28Didn't happen.
01:11:29Okay.
01:11:30Come on.
01:11:31We've seen
01:11:32similar nests before
01:11:35further north,
01:11:36and we had scientists,
01:11:38and they were all in agreeance
01:11:39it was a primate's nest.
01:11:40I was there.
01:11:43It's a Bigfoot nest?
01:11:45Oh, come on, that.
01:11:46According to Australian folklore,
01:11:51the Yowie is an ape-like mythical creature
01:11:53and the outback's version of Bigfoot.
01:11:56To indigenous tribes,
01:11:57the Yowie represents a powerful spirit,
01:12:00embodying both strength and danger,
01:12:02but should always be avoided,
01:12:04or harm may come to those
01:12:06who disrespect its presence.
01:12:07Have you ever seen one?
01:12:11It was on the fringe of the rainforest.
01:12:14That's weird s***.
01:12:17We went inside, it sat in it.
01:12:18Yeah, that was a good idea.
01:12:20Yeah, climbed in it.
01:12:22It's no good.
01:12:23So whoever built that?
01:12:25Whoever built that?
01:12:27No, no good?
01:12:29Well, not like us.
01:12:33But anyway,
01:12:34if we can just keep it in this little group
01:12:36because it can create waves.
01:12:37Yeah.
01:12:38And a whole lot of heartache and pain
01:12:39for all associated,
01:12:41including yourself.
01:12:43What?
01:12:44All right.
01:12:45Roger.
01:12:47I'm a firm advocate of
01:12:48not stressing out about things
01:12:50that you have no control over.
01:12:52We'll see what happens.
01:12:53See what the outback has for us.
01:12:55It's crazy.
01:12:56Crazy.
01:12:57I can't even wrap my brain around that.
01:13:01We just laid down in a fiatty nest.
01:13:04Yeah.
01:13:05Jesus.
01:13:06That is.
01:13:16Kicking it with my survival friends here.
01:13:18Mm-hmm.
01:13:19Yeah.
01:13:20Yeah.
01:13:22So.
01:13:24Did we lay in the Yeti nest?
01:13:26It is a lot of weird s*** this morning.
01:13:28If it is, you know,
01:13:30a Yeti after we're laid in it like that
01:13:32and it smelled us,
01:13:33that a Yeti now knows our scent
01:13:36and can walk it back.
01:13:39That's a situation.
01:13:41Yeah, Yeti knows where we are.
01:13:43At this point,
01:13:44I have to expect the unexpected.
01:13:45We might be able to get an hour of Yabby hunting in in the dark.
01:14:01Ready to have some fun.
01:14:02Let's go and give it a shot.
01:14:09I'll follow you.
01:14:10You got the light?
01:14:10All right.
01:14:12We'll see how well it burns.
01:14:14Hunt Yabby's as long as we have light to hunt Yabby's with.
01:14:17What?
01:14:30Yo.
01:14:36Someone's walking this way.
01:14:37Woo!
01:14:47That seems weird.
01:14:48Um, yeah.
01:14:50Pretty terrifying in the outback.
01:14:54All right, back to camp.
01:15:03I can't see .
01:15:04My eyes are really bad at night.
01:15:07I am hungry.
01:15:09What about you, Griff?
01:15:10I'm starving.
01:15:11I'm ready to eat.
01:15:22I heard it.
01:15:36I think it's gone.
01:15:37Yeah.
01:15:59Jemaine, you awake?
01:16:00Jemaine?
01:16:00Yeah.
01:16:01Yeah.
01:16:02Yeah.
01:16:03I agree with you.
01:16:05I definitely hear something.
01:16:07I'm going to go check it out.
01:16:09Sounds big.
01:16:10Let's go.
01:16:11Let's go.
01:16:12I hear him.
01:16:13All I can see is where the shore's lit up, because the only light that we have is this moonlight.
01:16:19Just be careful.
01:16:21Go slow.
01:16:22Now is our chance.
01:16:23Patrick, come here.
01:16:24Come here.
01:16:25Come here.
01:16:26Come here.
01:16:27Come here.
01:16:28Do you see him?
01:16:29What is that?
01:16:30I'm looking at that, too.
01:16:31I'm...
01:16:32I'm looking at that, too.
01:16:33I'm...
01:16:34What is that?
01:16:35I'm looking at that, too.
01:16:36What is that?
01:16:37I'm looking at that, too.
01:16:38I'm...
01:16:39What is that?
01:16:40I'm looking at that, too.
01:16:41What is that?
01:16:42What the , it's a pig.
01:16:43It's a pig.
01:16:44All I can see is a pig.
01:16:45What a pig.
01:16:46What a pig.
01:16:47I'm...
01:16:48I'm...
01:16:49公私?
01:16:50I'm...
01:16:51I'm...
01:16:52I'm...
01:16:54You're...
01:16:55I'm...
01:16:56I'm...
01:16:57I'm...
01:16:58I'm...
01:16:59You're...
01:17:00I'm...
01:17:01I'm...
01:17:02I'm...
01:17:03You're...
01:17:04How the ?
01:17:05This is...
01:17:06I'm...
01:17:07You're...
01:17:08You're...
01:17:09It's a pig.
01:17:12Oh, he came so close, dude.
01:17:16Thought with hopefully with like the moonlight,
01:17:18I'd be able to get some sort of shot on him.
01:17:20But he stayed in the shadows of the trees the whole time.
01:17:25So close, yet so far.
01:17:28I'm really going to have to go out and hunt tomorrow.
01:17:39Max, buddy, we're heading out.
01:17:49Good luck.
01:17:50I've been feeling about your hunts, buddy.
01:17:52We're making sure we're going to get fed.
01:17:54Yeah.
01:17:55That's what it's all about, making things like a team.
01:17:57Yeah.
01:17:58Until the day we have to compete against each other.
01:17:59I know. Yeah.
01:18:00So.
01:18:01Well, we're trying to keep each other strong.
01:18:02Yeah.
01:18:03So we can have strong competitors.
01:18:04Yeah, I want you guys strong.
01:18:05See what happens.
01:18:06We'll see you in a bit.
01:18:07Good luck.
01:18:08Good luck.
01:18:09I find a finding.
01:18:10It is a Bigfoot.
01:18:11Can I shoot it with the arrow?
01:18:13What?
01:18:14What?
01:18:15I estimate that pig to be about 200 pounds.
01:18:23That Pat shot in the moonlight.
01:18:25Mm-hmm.
01:18:26So if we can be smart about it, and be there when he's there,
01:18:32and when he doesn't know that we're there.
01:18:34Yeah.
01:18:35We could zap him.
01:18:36We might as well put something up on the other side of the river
01:18:39and just go sit over there and wait.
01:18:41He's coming to us.
01:18:42You couldn't ask for a better scenario.
01:18:44Yeah, I think I'm gonna go for a hunt.
01:18:49I can do it by myself.
01:18:52I don't know, 200 pounds of pigs is a lot to deal with.
01:18:54Yeah, I had rottweilers coming at me.
01:18:58That pig in comparison to a rottweiler,
01:19:00there is no comparison.
01:19:02You got to make sure you're protected.
01:19:04You don't have, you can't run.
01:19:05I don't know.
01:19:06I've just seen what pigs can do to dogs,
01:19:08and it's just, it's quick and it's surgical.
01:19:13The cool thing about this pig coming in to right across
01:19:16from our campsite is we can sit right here, right next to home,
01:19:21wait this guy out.
01:19:23Going after a pig that size by yourself is dangerous.
01:19:29I don't try to get hurt.
01:19:32I just know what I'm comfortable with.
01:19:34It's your call, brother.
01:19:35Yeah, once you leave camp to go hunting,
01:19:38it's you can do whatever you want.
01:19:41We're not gonna tell you what to do.
01:19:44We just want you to be safe.
01:19:45I will.
01:19:46My campmates would think they'd give me a little bit more
01:19:50respect than they do.
01:19:52Some of the reason why they're all fed.
01:19:54I got the boat because I came in first place.
01:19:57I got us the fishing asset.
01:19:59When I'm being disrespected out here.
01:20:01I'm not afraid of retaliation.
01:20:03Get the out of my mother face, man.
01:20:06Listen to me right now.
01:20:07You better get the out.
01:20:09I'm not killed out.
01:20:10You started yelling at me.
01:20:11You killed the out.
01:20:12I'm going to back down.
01:20:12Back off.
01:20:13Good luck.
01:20:16These territorial males will charge.
01:20:21When it's coming head on at you, your only shot is at its face
01:20:25and its back, which is the two toughest parts of the pig.
01:20:28That broadhead isn't going to do anything
01:20:30to slow that animal down.
01:20:33And it's an accident waiting to happen.
01:20:35Jermaine should go is the right thing to do.
01:20:37We all want the glory, but we need to set our egos aside
01:20:40because we need to eat.
01:20:43He had a 15-yard shot.
01:20:45So now he's trying to make up for that.
01:20:46His ego is going to get him hurt.
01:20:49That's the craziest I've ever seen.
01:20:51He just needs to be careful because if anything happens
01:20:53to him out there, we're not going to know.
01:20:54He's too far.
01:20:55There's no coming back from that kind of .
01:20:59It's like Captain Ahab.
01:21:01This pig is his Moby Dick.
01:21:10Out here, you've got to find a certain way to hunt.
01:21:14It's a different continent.
01:21:16And it takes time, patience, and perseverance.
01:21:31We've got pigs out there right now.
01:21:35Just walk in this way a little bit.
01:21:39I'm going to make a move around to get in position.
01:21:43Try to sneak around here from the southeast.
01:21:47And see if we get in position because the wind's
01:21:49kind of going slightly east.
01:21:53When you're going hunting with someone,
01:21:55you have not just one person's smell to worry about,
01:21:58but two people.
01:21:59We're able to find these puffball mushrooms.
01:22:01You can squeeze them.
01:22:03Spores come out, and they're very light,
01:22:05and the wind takes them, and they're visible.
01:22:08So paying attention to these spores,
01:22:10we know exactly what direction we need to be
01:22:13in regards to these pigs.
01:22:18We creep up slowly.
01:22:20We don't want to spook any pigs.
01:22:22And I decide to go a different way.
01:22:24This way, if something happens,
01:22:27there's one of us in two different locations.
01:22:28It multiplies our odds of being able to get a shot.
01:22:31Let's go, come on, come on, come on.
01:22:33We're f***ing last, dude.
01:22:35For this competition, the PSR, or Primitive Survival Rating,
01:22:41let's go come on come on come on we're last dude for this competition the psr or primitive
01:23:03survival rating weighs an individual's survival skills and items collected to determine the
01:23:08likelihood of becoming the last one standing there's nobody else out here we're last after
01:23:14struggling in the group challenge this means we're going to elimination trish used her bushcraft skills
01:23:19to come back from the brink again this is so intense i don't cry ever oh no and turned maggots
01:23:28into much needed calories hell yeah lifting her psr from 8.4 to 8.5 patrick's group finished their
01:23:37spring snare second and claimed a small rabbit but his dangerous hunting approach has come up short
01:23:46and put him at odds with his campmates i'm gonna go for a hunt it's an accident waiting to happen
01:23:52dropping his psr from 9.1 to 9.0 fighting back from a day one injury back up let's go let's go come on
01:24:02matt led his camp to a huge food win
01:24:05and is chasing an even bigger protein score
01:24:10his psr rises from 9.6 to 9.7
01:24:17to see all the survivalist psr rankings head over to facebook.com
01:24:23slash naked and afraid
01:24:26it's right there
01:24:31i just sent an arrow through a pig in australia all i have to do now
01:24:59wait a little bit for that animal to settle hopefully walk up the hill and there it is
01:25:04he came through here somewhere and then i think when i saw him go down the meadow he didn't have
01:25:09the arrow in so he dropped it somewhere in here i mean that arrow that arrow got fantastic penetration
01:25:14but if we can find the arrow it'll arrow pieces of the arrow we'll find out absolutely all right so
01:25:19somewhere right here is going to be an arrow looks like that okay i think i saw him go down that trail
01:25:26right to that big tree so he came in here and made a lot of noise
01:25:30he stinks like pig
01:25:33hey pat
01:25:35arrow
01:25:37oh
01:25:38it's a bloody ass arrow
01:25:43you'll see the full pass through
01:25:45and uh there's some things that are very positive here
01:25:49yeah right now you see see all these bubbles
01:25:53yeah that's a good chance it's long yeah but total pass through we're about 50 yards from where
01:26:01i hit it it went right up in this spot here like this this means this was a great shot and he's
01:26:09probably really close to us either taking his last breaths or close to that looks like right up
01:26:15here maybe this trail well the good thing is there's two of us you know right now we're not
01:26:22necessarily hungry we have that goat what we have to do now is figure out how to get ahead in the game
01:26:29hard to find a drop of blood in a place that is covered with red leaves and dark porous rock
01:26:36red red everywhere
01:26:44i'm looking at a lot of black pig-shaped rocks
01:26:46yep
01:26:48this is one of the hardest times i've ever had just feeling really discouraged not
01:26:54from the get being able to see anything
01:26:56i don't believe in bigfoot but i believe bigfoot could hide here
01:27:00i believe bigfoot could live his entire existence in this area without ever being found
01:27:08this is the worst case scenario because this amount of food isn't just going to get us through
01:27:13a couple of days it could get us through the entire challenge and bring us really close to winning
01:27:20the title of last one standing and now it's not looking good
01:27:26i hate to say it but we may have to cut our losses because at this point
01:27:33dehydration's an issue to keep yeah to keep looking it's uh we're going to put our survival
01:27:37in jeopardy here it's frustrating though i i would almost put all the money on this that he's here
01:27:43somewhere but i would also never gamble right now that if we looked for the rest of our life we might
01:27:51be able to find it i agree with you it's the most perfect shot ever oh yeah that you just never just
01:27:58disappears like a damn sasquatch carried it off yeah all of it's a weird mind
01:28:03it's been all in and out through here right here you can see hog came in did a loop
01:28:24there's evidence of hogs all over the place everything's fresh i know this hog is around
01:28:28here somewhere this could be dangerous but i can't be afraid out here i've survived and hunted
01:28:35in africa with lions hyenas elephants and black rhinos holy across the way coming down towards me
01:28:45it's probably still there where it went on the other side of the bank
01:28:55thing was huge
01:29:00i have an opportunity for a big game kill this is stalking your prey this is actual wilderness hunting
01:29:09oh there's a pig
01:29:15one of the pieces that can be of a hobby
01:29:20is
