Villeneuve, known for Dune and Blade Runner 2049, aims to bring a grounded yet ambitious narrative to Alexander’s meteoric rise and tragic fall. The film will explore his military genius, his tumultuous personal relationships, and his unyielding ambition to unite the known world.
Chalamet will portray Alexander in his late teens through his early 30s, capturing his transformation from a youthful visionary to a complex, battle-worn leader. Joining the cast are Florence Pugh as Hephaestion, Alexander’s closest companion, and Javier Bardem as King Philip II, his formidable father.
