03:29Yo, the same age Taguchi was right there, 36. History repeats or does history get altered?
03:39And who writes a new page here in OTA?
03:49And there you see, just in the foreground before, the trophy that is up for grabs, the subject of conversation for the past near three weeks of tournament action here in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
04:03It is the final tonight, it is the final tonight, and there's no one better to join the Japanese broadcast booth than the current IWGP junior heavyweight champion, El Desperado.
04:13And what's going on in his mind, and what's going on in his mind walk is so, so much, you would have to think this confronted a few moments ago by Jun Kasai, and well, I am sure whether that's, whether whoever comes out of this one, whether they face Desperado before Kasai or afterwards, that's a hell of a lineup to have.
04:32And I think it's interesting, and I think it's interesting, and I think it's interesting, and I think it's interesting, and I think it's interesting in a sense, this is TMDK versus Chaos, we've seen Zack Sabre Jr.
04:38Among the other members of TMDK in Kosei Frigester's corner.
04:45Yo, the one-man Chaos, now part of Hontai, certainly spiritually the World Heavyweight Champion, Hiroki Goto, must be in Yo's corner as well.
04:53I'll bring up a few stats if I may, from our friend Chris Zamsa, sportofprowrestling.com.
05:11Of course, Yo has involved in the longest ever Best of the Super Junior match, his final, the only other final he's been in, 2021 against Hiromi Takashi, 38 minutes and 30 seconds.
05:25In the meantime, well, Kosei Frigester, yes, just about got in under the tie, five and four, and made it through.
05:33His win-loss differential, the time it took for him to get his victories, as opposed to the time it took for him to make his losses, a plus one minute and four seconds, which means he has to work harder to get a win than it does for people to beat him.
05:50So in this environment, you have to think conditioning-wise, would go to Yo, and I would have to say as well, Walker, draw the attention to the taped-up shoulders on both men.
06:03That was great analysis there, Chris, and truth be told, throughout a lot of this tournament, we've had many first-time singles matches, and our main event tonight, the final, is just another one of those.
06:18Many tag-team matches against one another, and the most recent memory would come to mind, the loss Kosei Frigester suffered to Yo and Master Watto for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team title.
06:28And that really sent Kosei Frigester into, well, an angry fury when he wrestled Master Watto, I believe, as in Korokrain earlier on in this tournament.
06:38And, you know, I mean, to be honest, ran Master Watto out the gym.
06:41It was a very dominant performance, a very angry performance from Kosei Frigester, and he said afterwards, that's one half of the revenge complete.
06:50It was written in the stars, Kosei Frigester and Yo would meet once again, for the first time in singles competition, in the final of this year's tournament.
07:05That was like a cheeky little rainmaker that Yo was going for.
07:12Exactly what I was going to call there.
07:18I mean...
07:19That crowd that was all behind Frigester in the opening seconds, now a big Yo-chan.
07:30I mean, Yo's not for everybody.
07:32He's a weird cat, but he's had that artistic, that individuality.
07:36That's what people get behind.
07:38It took a long, long time for Yo to be able to tap into what Yo has right now.
07:54This is one-man chaos.
07:56It is.
07:58And, Chris, in professional wrestling, you talk about it taking a long time for Yo to tap into Yo.
08:0336 years of age, coming into tonight, is the junior tag team champion and block B finalist.
08:15Yo truly is going to carry the spirit of chaos into this main event here tonight.
08:20Do you think that's something Fugita considered?
08:23Well, I think Kosei Frigester at least had to consider that Yo would be bringing the bizarre into this environment.
08:30I mean, you say, yeah, some people in this business take a long time to tap into who they truly are.
08:35You know, it almost feels like Kosei Frigester was a complete package day one.
08:40You know what I mean?
08:40Even when he was still in Black Lion, you know, Young Lion tights.
08:44You know, that's why Zack Sabre Jr. brought Frigester, even as a Young Lion.
08:49He was still a Young Lion, hadn't graduated yet, but brought him into TMDK all the same.
08:53And it was right here in O2 that he did it.
08:59And now very quickly on the jump, one of the Blanche onto the apron.
09:03And a run right through the chest of Yo.
09:06Look out, look out.
09:07Clear the landing.
09:08Yeah, Yo wiped out by Fugita, your Blanche finalist.
09:12If you had to give a physical edge, it truly could go both ways.
09:34But my personal opinion may swing toward the Younger star in Yo today, or in Fugita today.
09:39Well, I mean, I think for Yo, he has the edge in terms of conditioning.
09:44If this goes long, the longer it goes, I would give the advantage to Yo.
09:47But you're right.
09:50Okay, so if maybe Yo has the fuel efficiency, if we're going to torture an analogy,
09:56I think Kosei Fugita has that power to rate ratio.
09:59And that incredible core strength, got to watch for that German suplex,
10:03got to watch for that thrill ride that he's been using all the way through this tournament.
10:07But if you look at the mental side of a professional wrestling match,
10:10the edge has to go the favor of Yo in my house.
10:13Well, I mean, because you don't know what he's thinking, right?
10:15Exactly.
10:15I mean, it's crazy like a fox, you could say.
10:19And certainly Yo has been through the ring several times over the course of his career.
10:25I mean, we always talk about it.
10:26It's hell trying to get to heaven.
10:27You can't succeed without being knocked down time and time again.
10:32And people might say Kosei Fugita is too young to be in this position.
10:36But Kosei Fugita grew up in the struggle.
10:38I mean, his childhood was no picnic.
10:40And he's had to fight for every single thing he has in his life.
10:45And he'll fight just as hard to try and capture that trophy.
10:52You know, you have a couple of master strategists in your corner.
10:55You look in the blue corner of TMDK tonight.
10:58You see men like Zack Sabre Jr.
11:00You see Robbie Eagles.
11:01I mean, two of the smartest athletes in professional wrestling who will find it damn near impossible to get a mental read on a man like Yo.
11:08Yeah, that's true.
11:09Oh, Ed Hunter.
11:10I think they will be giving some advice as well.
11:13I think Oiwa has the kinship, of course, with Fugita.
11:17They came up through the dojo together.
11:19Hartley Jackson, the father figure.
11:20You couldn't ask for a better team in your corner.
11:23I think it's interesting that Yo has elected not to have a team with him in his corner here tonight.
11:27But nonetheless, feeling good, got that netbreaker on Fugita here, who's hurting.
11:32You know, the loss of those junior tag team titles right ahead of this tournament beginning might have been the greatest thing to happen to Kosei Fugita.
11:49Isn't this interesting?
11:50Yeah, I was just going to point out the opposite side of that taped-up shoulder is the target tonight for Yo.
11:58Now switching sides.
12:00Yeah, now that's the left shoulder that is going to be targeted.
12:04Well, I mean, perhaps that's something somewhere.
12:07He thinks of someone like Zack Sabre Jr. being in Fugita's corner and knows that the TMDK game plan is to target not just one body part, but every body part available to you.
12:19And those arms become integral to that Nemo special, which we saw put away Clark Connors on the final Block A night.
12:26And brought Kosei Fugita right into the breakthrough of a five-way tie.
12:30Can we touch on that a little bit, Chris?
12:33Yo earned his spot fully, directly, definitively in the Block B final.
12:37And not to say Kosei Fugita didn't, but it was by the skin of his teeth.
12:40Well, yeah, I mean, it was a three-way tie for Yo.
12:44Oh, no, yeah, it was Yo clear at the top, wasn't it?
12:46Right.
12:47The six and three mark.
12:48You know, I mean, I think that was certainly a situation.
12:53And I think it was big for Yo to get the win in the main event.
13:00You know, whereas Kosei Fugita a little bit lower down, people had expected Hiromi Takahashi.
13:06You know, and I think that is something.
13:09That is something that either eats at you or it's the chip on your shoulder that motivates you.
13:14Where people didn't believe that Kosei Fugita or Clark Connors, the people putting these cards together,
13:19that didn't think Fugita or Clark Connors would make the final.
13:22He surprised everybody.
13:24Whereas Yo was put in that main event position under the understanding that there was a very good chance that Yo would be in the final hitter.
13:32And he, that work and that right elbow really setting in.
13:43And the plancha will take down Fujita on the outs.
13:47Here's Yo brought back inside.
13:50And the neck breaker is going to weaken down Fujita.
13:55Here's a cover for Yo.
13:56And it is two.
13:58Oh, another little bit.
14:02Yeah, there you go.
14:05You're seeing all these influences and the work on the arms and elbows has set this up.
14:11But also, if Yo wants direct drive, the best way to get there is through the neck, the shoulders, the arms of Kosei Fugita.
14:20If Fugita submits to this, then he's best in the Super Junior winner is Yo.
14:26But if not, he's a little bit closer to getting direct drive later on down the road.
14:38These influences that you see from Yo, whether it's the Rainmaker attempt near the beginning of this matchup,
14:43the butterfly hold that could be attributed to Yoshihashi,
14:46these are the men that have supported Yo throughout his darkest moments.
14:49Throughout the grind, throughout the injury that took place that kept him out of last year's Best of the Super Junior,
14:55where he spent the whole time on the shelf dreaming and working toward this moment.
14:59You see, Fugita's tenacity has been a story of this tournament.
15:12He should let go, in my opinion, Walker.
15:14Sure.
15:14You know, I mean, like, that's a position where, oh, man, he let go, all right.
15:18Yeah.
15:20Fugita did more damage to his arm by hanging onto the rope and blocking the Irish rip,
15:25but once he was on the move, took out Yo once, we'll do it again, here we go, up high.
15:31Fugita, watch it, walk the sky.
15:33Oh, walk it.
15:34Oh, my God.
15:35Fugita, Fugita, Fugita, Fugita, Fugita.
15:47And just one more time, you see it, Kosei Fugita has thrown caution to the wind his entire life.
15:55And it's not gonna stop here, even if he wins, that's the Super Junior.
15:59That is what has made him the Japanese Young Punk.
16:01Now Fugita in the driver's seat, position he's comfortable with.
16:14Can he land it, though?
16:15Yes, indeed, springboard dropkick on Yo.
16:18And the cover for the Japanese Young Punk, two.
16:31Oh, nice, nice flying guillotine, gonna try and hammer up that arm.
16:42Yeah, this is small for the future.
16:44Do you remember?
16:47Oh, wait a second.
16:48Yeah, no, watch it, watch it.
16:50No, not gonna drop down, DNV instead.
16:54Oh, that anaconda.
16:57Yep, that put away Desperado.
16:59It did indeed.
17:01And Fugita, the Tehada's takedown, sat on the cover.
17:04Fugita, only two.
17:07And just right back on the attack, this is Killer Instinct, straight out of the school of Zack Sabre Jr.
17:11right here, and Fugita, full of flesh.
17:15Yeah, hammerlock style, though, as well.
17:17Also, you think back to that match in Yoyogi with Kushida.
17:21Almost felt like Kosei Fugita was preparing for a submission, focus grappling, focus final.
17:29Through that match, with Kosei even in defeat.
17:32Oh, Valken, arrow from Yoyogi.
17:35Here we go.
17:39Not enough to make the cover, clutching at that left shoulder.
17:42And now you're starting to see the armor shatter on the current junior tag team champion.
17:48Only two other junior tag team champions have won Best of the Super Juniors while still holding tag goal.
17:58Tatsuhito Takaiwa in 2000, Jushin Thunder Liger in 2001.
18:03Yo blowing out all thoughts of tag team partnership here tonight.
18:11No partners in his corner, just himself to rely on.
18:14Man, one of the Super Kick avoided it.
18:18Yo, blocked in by Fugita.
18:19O'Connor wants the bridge.
18:21Fugita escaping the bridge.
18:22Wait, wait, wait.
18:24Danger!
18:25Danger!
18:26Yeah!

29:10Oh, but the block got kicked off. He's out. He's out.
29:14The only thing holding Fooch to is up is his own opponent.
29:18Yo's got to capitalize. He knows exactly what he needs to do here.
29:23A direct drive into the win.
29:25Get up.
29:29No.

29:49No, no, no, no.
29:59Yo has an abandoned hook yet.
30:01You see the losses.
30:04We are getting deep into the minutes now.
30:20And even still, Jose Fugina and Yo survive.
30:26But how long, how long can you do so?
30:29No, no, no, no.
30:32One man.

31:10Yo.

31:46Kose Fugina is on the cusp of it all.
31:50But never abandoning hope.
31:55Can you get there?
31:56Fugina's gotta make the cover.
31:58Make history.
31:59You've got this can.
32:00It's over.
32:01No.
32:02I damn near fell out of my seat.
32:15How in the world is Yo still in this?
32:18He can say the same thing about the Japanese Yo.
32:23In the world of Onsen, the hook.
32:28Up we go.
32:29To put it all away.
32:34Throw ride.
32:37It's gotta be over.
32:42I cannot believe it.
32:47History has been made in Ota City tonight.

40:34I can guarantee you that Kosei Fujita did not need to win a tournament
40:41for him to call himself the best junior heavyweight wrestler in the world.
40:46But now, vindicated in every single form and fashion,
40:50Best of the Super Junior winner,Kosei Fujita,
40:54outlasting 19 other men to crown himself the top in junior heavyweight wrestling.
41:04Well, this is the beginning of a hot TNDK Summer Walker.
41:28All it took was one tournament last summer to paint
41:33every single arena black and orange.
41:36New Japan Pro Wrestling visited for the rest of the year.
41:41From the heavyweight division and Zack Sabre Jr, G134.
41:45The junior heavyweight division comes the youngest to ever win it all,
41:49Kosei Fujita.
41:50Kosei Fujita.
41:58Well,it might be CMDK style in this celebratory photo and then afterwards to join the congregation here in OTA 3044 strong.
42:09We thank you all for being here.
42:12And all to see Kosei Fujita make history here tonight.
42:16And Atsui, and he'll shake every single one left hand if he's able to.
42:27Well,the landscape of professional wrestling may see that it is Kosei Fujita's world and we're just living in it.
42:46And everyone in the world may be forced to agree it all except the IWGP junior heavyweight champion, El Desperado.
42:55And you're right, I mean the work is never done, and so, so often, you come out of a tournament like this,
43:24Kosei Fujita.
43:26Kosei Fujita, as you said, already has a pretty damn strong claim to being the best junior heavyweight wrestler in the world.
43:32He's got one aspect of proof, but he doesn't have the IWGP junior heavyweight championship.
43:38More than deserve it of a spot now.
43:42The question is when and where.
43:45Well, you can carry around a trophy in your luggage as much as you want, but it's a lot easier to move a title belt.
44:04We know that Kosei Fujita has no problem showing off the new gold that's acquired,
44:09just like we saw as junior tag team champions.
44:13But there is more gold to be won, and Kosei Fujita may be the man to do it.
44:19But the question remains as to when and where.
44:24Here's Robbie Eagles.
44:25The boy done good.
44:27How bloody good was that?
44:29It was awesome.
44:30Sensational.
44:31Perfect game plan executed to a bloody D, and now we celebrate.
44:3722 years old.
44:42I'm real, I'm real.
44:43I'm gonna take a little bit of credit.
44:45I saw it.
44:46I saw it before it was too obvious.
44:48I mean, the facetious nature of cutting credit for him.
44:51That's all him, that's all him.
44:54Hey, you can't blame Zack Sabre Jr.
44:57A hell of a coach, a hell of a talent scout.
45:00Still in the prime of his career.
45:02I mean, you think about New Year's cash 2022?
45:06That was the night Zack Sabre Jr. saying, hey, you young man, come here.
45:15How would you like to be part of something?
45:23Not only has that potentially changed the direction of TMDK forever,
45:28but by God, it might have shifted and given the boost of motivation,
45:32Jose Puigda needed to reach these heights as early as he has.
45:3722 years and 10 months.
45:41History made tonight, Nolta.
45:45I think we're gonna be waiting around a little bit for
45:55Jose Puigda to make his comments.
45:57So I think Puigda to enjoy every single moment.
46:01What a night we've had here in OTA.
46:03I mean, what a night, what a tournament.
46:0519, or, good lord, we're not at G1 yet.
46:0813 nights of incredible action.
46:12Every single time out for Best of the Super Junior 32.
46:15And it has been intense on everyone.
46:17Every athlete, every member of the staff, everyone involved.
46:21And this year's Best of the Super Junior to make it all happen.
46:24And it was all to ground this man right here, the rightful.
46:27Best of the Super Junior winner in 2025.
46:30Undoubtedly deserved.
46:54Holistically earned.
46:57History has been made tonight, courtesy of the Japanese Young Pump.
47:04You know, as we await Kosei Puigda to make his way to the post-match Kame area, I mean, this is, we talked about the near almost equality we saw between everyone.
47:33Invested in Super Junior this year.
47:36Such a tight race.
47:38Kosei Puigda barely eking out Yo in 30, 35-plus, whatever the time was, minutes of action.
47:44It was a difficult climb for Kosei Puigda.
47:47But it really just does go to show how incredible the junior heavyweight division is here in New Japan Pro Wrestling, top to bottom.
47:55I mean, let's not code over what Yo was doing here tonight.
48:02I mean, absolutely the performance of his career, in my opinion.
48:05Tremendous, tremendous outing here in our main event with the lights on bright.
48:11Just not quite enough to put away Kosei Puigda here tonight.
