00:00Well, three men sit atop the block.
00:30of block B, none of which be in block A. Kose Fugida, block A, top contender at six points,
00:41and the entirety of block A is going to be gutted for him. Chris, not to cut this off or anything,
00:46but I don't see any coverage on Kose Fugida's feet.
00:54The champion of Kose Fugida, the champion of Kose Fugida, the champion of Kose Fugida.
01:09What we've seen so far in this tournament, so much heart and drive in Kose Fugida.
01:16We've always talked about it, but what we've seen is the punk in the Japanese Young Punk.
01:22And, well, I mean, I need this in the nicest possible way.
01:27But this little bastard has been, well, doing his best not just to win,
01:33but to throw a little bit of salt and cast a little bit of shade.
01:37And Kose Fugida has spoken at length about how he will enjoy defeating Kishida here tonight
01:48in the very place where Kishida won both with his best of the Super Junior trophies in 2015 and 2017.
01:56And if anything, I think going here barefoot is an indication of a style of match that he wants to do.
02:04I got a feeling Kose Fugida wants Kishida down on the mat.
02:08He wants to get down and down. He wants to grapple with a BJJ expert.
02:12And the time splitter, Kishida!
02:32No doubt heard about Kushida getting ready for this tournament walker, not just with
02:44Utsuru and CMLL wrestling, Ultimo Dragon and Misako, but also training under Masukazu
02:50Imanari, like an MMA, former MMA, very prolific fighter.
02:55And the feeling, yeah, all right, well, future has dictated the terms and Kushida
03:02is accepting them here.
03:04This is very, very interesting.
03:09We're going to take the time to paint the picture here a little bit.
03:21You'll see the knee pads come down, revealing what is not just one, but two double knee tape
03:26around that of Kushida heading into this match with Kosei Fujita today.
03:32Well, I mean, Kushida, just like any veteran wrestler, nobody wrestles a decades-long career
03:43as Kushida has and still has good knees.
03:47And Kosei Fujita, to his credit, he knows that to be the case, not going to let it bother him,
03:54not going to hold back any at the same time.
03:58Kosei Fujita's had a shoulder injury for the best part of the year at that point, and Kushida
04:03is an expert at dissecting shoulders.
04:07I like this, I like this a lot, Walker.
04:14Chris, can you walk me through a little bit the differences that you're going to find as
04:20an athlete going from wearing foot coverings, footwear, boots, shoes, whatever it may be,
04:25to competing barefoot the way we see Kosei Fujita make it a transition?
04:29You know, I can't say I've had any real success in professional wrestling, but I've dabbled
04:34here and there.
04:35I could not imagine being in a wrestling ring barefoot unless you are very, very used to
04:41it.
04:42I used to it when you think of somebody like speedball Mike Bailey, my sort of famous example.
04:48You know, those calluses build up and it makes it much more easy to move on the down point.
04:55Obviously you don't have the protection that a boot can give you and the arch support and
04:59this, that and other.
05:00It could be very, very easy to roll an ankle potentially.
05:04Break a foot, I think Kushida more experienced in this sort of position in terms of his Brazilian
05:12jiu-jitsu background.
05:13And that is exactly why Kosei Fujita wants to challenge him.
05:16Exactly.
05:17You know, I mean, Fujita, of course, trains and enjoys being in the environment, wants
05:24to get better within it, and says a lot about the work ethic of that man, and also the attitude.
05:33This really is an example of youth versus experience when it comes to...
05:38Kushida.
05:39You know, maintaining whatever can control Kushida can find here, and it's going to be a lot
05:44about body weight distribution.
05:47Obviously all those members of TMDK train together, roll together.
06:03And Fujita has spent some time down in Carpe Diem.
06:10As well, Kushida trying to get the arm and Fujita clenching.
06:18Kushida's underneath the chin there, Walker.
06:19I'm going to try.
06:20Shoulders in danger, potentially.
06:33Is he anything like this with...
06:37When jiu-jitsu submission martial, I mean, when you bring that into the professional wrestling
06:47field, and a catch wrestler will often try, you'll see perhaps, if they're smart, force
06:52the shoulders down, go for a pinfall, not to win the match, but to make sure someone's
06:57shoulders comes up, and then you can go for a submission from there.
07:00You know, those are the principles of early professional wrestling.
07:11You know, it's something that you and I have highlighted a little bit throughout this series,
07:17just how much Kosei Fugida has not been afraid to utilize the power game of his arsenal.
07:22Well, we've seen it bring him to victory three times over in his past three best of the
07:29Super Junior matches, and Kushida, well, has not had the exact same luck.
07:32Yeah, Kushida using that back to the future to finally get on the board just a couple of
07:40nights ago, and that had to be a sigh of relief coming out of Kushida that night.
07:45Oh, man, talk about not having the support there.
07:49That was an option on the ankle there that Kushida chose not to take.
07:55When we talk about, when we were talking off-air, well, actually on-air for the official
08:01English podcast, you know, when we talk about junior heavyweights, the important thing is
08:07that power-to-weight ratio.
08:10Have as much strength as you can, but still stay as light as you can.
08:14Not just so you can stay as fast as you can, but also be as agile as you can.
08:20And to have the gas tank.
08:22And doing this, let me tell you something.
08:26About, what are we, not five minutes into this, about three minutes deep.
08:30Yeah.
08:31Those two men are as blown up as they would be doing about five dives into, you know, something
08:39like a ninja back and his sort of style of aerial assault.
08:42It is hugely, hugely demanding on your cardio to grapple with a guy, try and get a submission.
08:49At the same time, keep your shoulders off the mat.
08:54It is constant movement between Kosei, Fujita, and Kushida.
08:58You're on offense, then you're on defense, then you're on offense again.
09:01It is that ebb and flow that you're going to struggle with.
09:04Yeah, Kushida really likes that ankle.
09:08He really likes that ankle, and I don't know if that's a tell, but Fujita really trying to work to keep Kushida off it.
09:16Oh, and Kushida.
09:44Nice, well, it was a nice leap in choke, but, oh, that's the difference.
09:53You've got to give so much credit to Kosei Fujita being willing to take Kushida out of the game that he's well aware Kushida's going to be more adept at.
10:00There is no doubt that Kushida is the more experienced, the more proficient grappler than Kosei Fujita is.
10:06But there's only one way that you get better, and that's to face people who are better than you are in the field that they are better than you in.
10:15I think a straight fight and the style that Fujita has wrestled in so far in this tournament.
10:22And I would say, Kosei Fujita, with the youth, he would have the advantage.
10:26But this is about more than just that.
10:29Or could it be, Walker, the fact that 3-0 in, he feels, well, whatever happens, if I come out and I lose this match, I'm still at the top of A block, albeit tied.
10:39I can afford to take a loss, so maybe I can afford to take this a little bit more lightly and have a little bit of education on the way.
10:48Well, I'm not certain if Kosei Fujita thinks this is the time to be getting risky, but maybe this is my own adverse will to take risk in a situation like this.
10:55You know, Chris, this is really, really not where Kosei Fujita wants to be.
11:00First strike attempt that you're going to see.
11:04And now it's Kushida trying to sweep the legs.
11:07Oh, nice.
11:11Kushida was looking, I think, for an arm takedown, maybe going to that shoulder that he's wanting for a long time.
11:17Fushida trying to get some separation, hoist him now.
11:21Oh, nice.
11:22Wow.
11:23And Fushida's going to go for it.
11:27Trying to force the separation of the arm for Kosei Fujita, targeting that left side.
11:32And it is Kushida that tries to work his way out of it.
11:37A little rotation there, Kushida.
11:41Oh, yeah.
11:42Pick the ankle.
11:43Oh, you're going to see.
11:45Is that blood poured from the mouth of Kushida right there, Chris?
11:48Well, let me see if our cameras pick it up.
11:52Yeah, that is.
11:53Yeah, you're exactly right.
11:54I mean...
11:55Wow.
11:56That's just the nature of the game.
11:59I think both of these guys are going to leave, whether it's a split lip, bit tongue, cauliflower ears.
12:05Once you get the taste of your own blood, maybe a little bit of frustration will creep in on the part of Kushida.
12:15You know, I have to wonder if it was the taste of his own blood that forced Kushida to throw the first strike that we've seen in this match.
12:23If I had to guess, I'd have thought that Fujita would have been the one to get a little hot-headed, be the first to go outside the rule set.
12:29Well, I mean, the rule set perfectly accommodating of these things.
12:34Yes.
12:35I mean, it's very, very interesting for someone, especially as young as Kosei Fujita, to intentionally restrict himself as he has been so far in this matchup.
12:45And now, well...
12:50Kushida...
12:51Oh, yeah.
12:52Going to try and break the guard.
12:54And Kosei Fujita is doing a good job of covering himself up.
12:57When you talk about that restriction of Kosei Fujita, if you look at the system Fujita came out of as a young lion,
13:06that's really what the Noguidojo system is built off of.
13:09The idea of restriction and deflourishment.
13:11Have these basic maneuvers to learn those sentiments.
13:15Oh, Fujita...
13:17It will be his second choice to take the right rather than the tapetop left.
13:22And Kosei Fujita found the drop-toe hold.
13:31Oh, nice.
13:32Very nicely done.
13:34That special could be inbound right here, Chris.
13:36That's the second time that would have been a bit of a confidence boost for Kosei Fujita.
13:41The first line being the blood in the mouth.
13:44The second being the sound of that scream from Kushida when he tied up the legs.
13:50But that shoulder...
13:51Yeah, there you go.
13:52There's the tapetop shoulder.
13:53It might not have been stretched by Kushida, but the general wear and tear make it very hard to get the grip.
14:00Couldn't get the Neyoshi special, but does have one arm instead of two.
14:04And to the bottom rope.
14:11Kushida will make it.
14:16I think...
14:18Again, we'll wait and see the camera shot.
14:20I think a little bit of a mouse over the left eyes maybe starting to form on Kosei Fujita as well.
14:26Face has been rubbed into the mat.
14:28Oh, Kosei Fujita popped up.
14:43German suplex.
14:45Nice, but he's not going for a cover walker.
14:48No bridge.
14:49He wants the arm.
14:51No, no, no!
14:53No, no, no!
14:58Well, either be his greatest success or his biggest hubris in this matchup.
15:01Kosei Fujita not interested in a pinfall.
15:04Or is he going to make a full hour meeting if he hits the thrill ride?
15:10Oh, and...
15:12This is exactly...
15:13Oh!
15:14Not where Kushida wanted to be.
15:16Oh, my God!
15:17Oh, my God!
15:18Oh, my God!
15:19Oh, my God!
15:20Oh, my God!
15:21Oh, my God!
15:22Oh, my God!
15:23Oh, my God!
15:24Yeah!
15:25Come on, Kosei!
15:26Give up!
15:27Give up!
15:28Give up!
15:29Power submission attempt here from Kosei Fujita.
15:33Kushida slowly but surely being worn down.
15:37He's got his hand, his left hand just inside the grip of Kosei Fujita.
15:41That's just keeping a little bit of blood flowing to the brain.
15:44Still speaking of blood flowing from the mouth.
15:49Let's in.
15:50Power up.
15:51And now he's got that shoulder.
15:54Got that arm.
15:55And German suplex from Kushida.
15:57One at the bridge and not enough.
16:01Kosei Fujita so gung-ho on targeting that left arm of Kushida tonight.
16:06We've not seen.
16:09My, Yasami, have to count any shoulders once so far in this matchup.
16:16And again, again, again, again.
16:20Kosei Fujita just cannot let this one go.
16:24Amalok in that arm.
16:27As much pressure as he can get.
16:31Yeah, Kushida's got to try and get his head out and does.
16:38In order to beat the master.
16:50In order to beat a savant like Kushida.
16:53You've got to go to places that you were never willing to go to before.
16:57Kosei Fujita knows his place is that left arm.
17:01But it might cost him here.
17:04Ain't no way.
17:05Ain't no way Kushida wants to tap to a double wrist lock.
17:08Oh, Kosei Fujita.
17:20Oh, and that shoulder to the left side as well.
17:23And now he's got it.
17:24Now he's got it.
17:25Oh, we're getting it.
17:28He can wrench it in tighter.
17:30Oh!
17:31Yeah, that's it.
17:33That's got to be it.
17:34All the way in.
17:37What is Kosei Fujita thinking here?
17:42Fujita is so prideful.
17:44He might not want to tap to save himself in this tournament.
17:48Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute.
17:49No way to go.
17:54Kushida has the leg.
17:55Fujita has the arm.
17:57He's going to snap first.
18:05Uh-oh.
18:06Oh!
18:07Oh!
18:08Back to the future!
18:09He got it!
18:10Oh!
18:11And that's three.
18:14And one pin full of attention the whole match.
18:16You know, you know, you know.
18:17But she doesn't know what she knows on this.
18:19So, okay.
18:20Oh!
18:21It's the end of the match.
18:22Now he goes for it.
18:23Yeah!
18:24Oh!
18:25Yeah!
18:26Oh!
18:27Oh!
18:28Yeah!
18:29Oh!
18:31Oh!
18:32Oh!
18:33Oh!
18:34Oh!
18:35Oh!
18:36Oh!
18:37Oh!
18:38Oh!
18:40Oh!
18:41Oh!
18:42Oh.
18:43Oh.
18:44Oh!
18:45The man who keeps pushing at six points advances his own to four.
18:50It is Kushida with the win here tonight.
18:58Man, that crowd, that crowd rather, at four points in A-Block.
19:03Going to six individuals.
19:05It is a long jam at four points.
19:08Well, I am very interested in what happens next.
19:33A couple of words of advice.
19:38Well, Kosei Fuji that dug his own grave when he tried to challenge the style of Kushida.
19:47We are going to see what Kushida has coming up against Dragon Daya.
19:52This is not the way the Japanese young punk wanted to be humble and best the Super Junior.
20:00A loss like that, that is the sort of loss that makes it better, in my opinion, Walker.
20:05Well, the problem is this isn't the place to be better.
20:08This is the place to be the best of the Super Junior.
20:11He's got to get on form again.
20:12Here's Robby X tomorrow.
