00:01Obviously having someone of Tom's calibre,

00:04put his hand up to be involved in the Carlton Draft

00:08and have the ability or we're very lucky to be able to get that number one pick

00:12and bring him in.

00:14He's just an unbelievable person.

00:16The calibre, he got around the lads,

00:19he was in the player's WhatsApp group last night,

00:22introducing himself and saying that he was really looking forward to coming to play.

00:26Being a country guy, he understands community footy and to make his score,

00:32and he just bought into it.

00:34He said, I've got a few things to do at the core of it,

00:36I want to win a game of footy.

00:38And to get that from someone who's played over 300 games of AFL footy,

00:43really want to enable us to get the win today.

00:48It was just great.

00:50The crowd that he was able to bring in for us,

00:54the footy was certainly a product,

00:57but the big thing for me for today,

01:00and for a lot of people here,

01:02was it's been a very difficult 15 to 18 months throughout the community,

01:06with the fires and the difficulty through the ag and the farming landscape.

01:10So to be able to get people back and connect,

01:12and today enable people to have a little bit of fun,

01:17and enjoy themselves,

01:19and take their mind off what's going on in their work life or personal life,

01:23and it was certainly all worthwhile.

01:27Seven games in now,

01:29certainly when we play our brand of footy,

01:34we've been competitive to win two games,

01:37two others we've just been run over in the last quarter.

01:41That's the growth that we're looking for.

01:44We certainly understand where we're coming from.

01:47We've had a difficult couple of years,

01:49so to get a couple of wins early in the first half of the season,

01:53certainly can build a lot of confidence within the group,

01:56but out there footy is certainly good enough,

01:58and that's going to be the challenge.

02:00We're going to certainly continue to have ups and downs throughout the rest of the year,

02:04but if we can start to close the gap between our good performances

02:09and our poor performances,

02:11that's all that we're looking for.

02:13It's going to be another year of growth,

02:15a pretty new group,

02:17probably 12 players played today,

02:19it's their first season of footy at the club,

02:22so we would expect to continue to improve as the year goes.

02:26So yeah, wrapped with the result overall,

02:29and it's certainly going to be a good line.
