00:18And in the United States, a federal trade court blocked Donald Trump from imposing sweeping

00:49Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:50I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Medresu Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:54We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:08The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, condemned the attempted attacks by the Venezuelan
01:12far-right in complicity with imperialism against diplomatic headquarters in the country.
01:18During the inauguration of the tourist route La Lucha of the communal government of Miranda,
01:23the President denounced the inauguration plans against embassies in Venezuela and candidates
01:28to the regional and legislative elections for the Great Patriotic Poll in an attempt to incite
01:33violence during the May 25th elections.
01:35In this sense, the head of state highlighted that more than 70 plotters have been captured
01:41with evidence of their participation in threats against the country.
01:53Today, Diosdado Cabello held a press conference at noon.
02:01If you have not seen it, look for it, it is on YouTube.
02:09Diosdado showed 10% of the evidence we have.
02:16He showed the handwritten notes of that gentleman, Juan Pablo Guanipa, how he was planning the assassination
02:27of the leaders of all the parties of the Great Patriotic Poll, how they were planning the attack
02:36to several embassies, among them the embassy of the United Nations and the Colombian embassy
02:45headquarters, how they were planning attacks to opposition leaders who had registered for
02:53the elections on Sunday.
02:58In order to continue the economic growth of Venezuela international trade with Turkey,
03:02it's boosted with new bilateral agreements and partnerships between both nations.
03:06Our colleague Brunner Falsi with more details.
03:13Cabotr, the Venezuela-Turkey commercial integration chamber, was inaugurated in the Venezuelan capital
03:20with the objective of strengthening trade, relations and exports between the two nations.
03:29Well, it has grown a lot.
03:31I will give you some figures.
03:33Ten years ago our trade was only 150 million dollars.
03:37In 2018 to 2022, on two occasions our trade volume exceeded 1 billion dollars.
03:43And then our goal, the goal that our President Erdogan,
03:47and President Maduro have set is to reach 3 billion dollars.
03:56Each businessman has to assume himself as a trade ambassador of the exportable offer of
04:01all the wonderful things that the expression made in Venezuela means, because there goes the pride of
04:06what is ours associated to a brand, a product, a consumable good or a service, and then they will
04:11open spaces for a greater commercial exchange from the chamber and at the same time they will serve
04:16to identify investment opportunities.
04:24With the presence of businessmen from various sectors from all over the country,
04:28a document was signed together with representatives of both governments,
04:33thus creating jobs and fostering economic growth.
04:36The support we can provide is very vital in order to make this country grow.
04:44And despite all the adversities, despite all these unilateral coercive measures,
04:49that have been imposed on us, we continue to grow.
04:52In the business sector there are many experiences where we have been importing some machinery,
05:02some medicine and food products from Turkey, as well as some experiences that we from Portuguesa
05:08are exporting, brand country brand made in Venezuela to Turkey.
05:12The proposal has been well received by the Venezuelan productive sector,
05:22with more than 60 companies being part of the signed agreement.
05:29We have many products such as coffee, passion fruit, potatoes, carrots. We have many products that can
05:35add to the productive economy of our country and be able to see what is shown here in our Venezuela to Turkey.
05:42The fact that we are part of a chamber of commerce between bilateral agreements is very important
05:52for us because it allows us to increase exports and take the products that Venezuela produces to another frontier.
06:03In a context of economic warfare by the United States against Venezuela,
06:08the deepening of relations between these nations strengthens the consolidation of the multipolar
06:14world and an alternative to neoliberalism.
06:24Meanwhile in Argentina, researchers mobilized at the scientific poll in Buenos Aires in rejection of the Javier
06:29Mele government's brutal adjustment of the national scientific and technological system. Multiple researchers
06:35mobilized in front of the scientific poll to express their rejection to the cuts and the lack of income
06:41the national scientific and technical research council. In this way they denounced that budget cuts lay
06:47off paralysis of funds for laboratories, frozen salaries and the dismantling of agencies and institutes
06:54promoted by the government led to a critical situation for CONICET and the Argentine scientific system as a whole.

07:27Welcome back. In the United States, a federal trade court on Wednesday blocked Donald Trump from
07:42imposing sweeping tariffs on imports under an emergency powers law. The ruling by a three-judge panel of the New York-based
07:49international trade court followed several lawsuits arguing that Trump had overstepped its authority,
07:55left US trade policies subservient to his whims and unleashed economic chaos. According to reports,
08:01the Trump administration has filed an appeal and White House officials responded to the ruling with
08:06public statements questioning the court's authority in the case. On the other hand, financial markets
08:11applauded the ruling as the US dollar following the court's order rose against currencies such as the euro,
08:17yen and the Swiss franc in particular.
08:19And on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a revocation of visas for some Chinese
08:32students. The far-right politician claims that these are Chinese students linked to the Communist Party
08:38or with studies in sensitive areas. The action adds to many others that have raised uncertainty among over a
08:45million foreign students. At the same time, the Secretary of State also instructed all US embassies to
08:51immediately suspend all student visa applications. Rubio warned that further substantial changes are expected.
09:07On Wednesday, Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations Bob Wright described President Trump's offer for
09:12Canada to benefit from the Golden Dome project as mafia extortion. After stating that his country does
09:19not accept blackmail or bribes of any kind, Bob said on his social media that in certain contexts,
09:25Washington's proposal would be qualified as mafia extortion. The US President announced that he would
09:31offer his northern neighbors free membership in the Golden Dome in exchange for Canada agreeing to become the
09:3751st State of the Union. The Golden Dome is a highly contested project which several governments say
09:43will contribute to sparking a nuclear war.
09:52And in Peru, the Health Ministry reported Wednesday that pertussis cases soared in the country in 2025.
09:59Authorities registered 12 deaths and 650 infections in what is considered the worst pertussis outbreak in the
10:05nation's history. Regions with confirmed cases are Loreto, Lima, Cajamarca, Cusco, Arequipa, Callao,
10:12and Tacna. In the Loreto region, nine people have died, mainly in the Datem del Marañon, one in
10:19Metropolitan Lima and two in Lambayaque. So far, most of the deaths have occurred in children aged 0 to 4 years.
10:27The deceased children did not have the complete vaccination scheme.
10:35And in Peru, the second water summit held in Lima ended with guidelines for the correct conservation
10:55and management of water to benefit the planet. The roadmap with guidelines applicable at the internal
11:02level according to the conditions of each country was described by the Ministers of the Environment
11:07Order equivalents as a historic and a solid commitment to the protection of water resources.
11:12The document according to Juan Bello, Regional Director of the United Nations Environment Programme,
11:17will be presented at four international meetings, including the Forum of Environment Ministers and the
11:23Seventh United Nations Assembly to be held in December this year.
11:34And Nicaragua is preparing with the National Interinstitutional Plan, Safe Winter 2025,
11:39with the objective of protecting the lives of the population from meteorological phenomena.
11:43Genia Doña, with the details.
11:44Genia Doña, with the details.
11:49According to meteorological reports, an active hurricane season is expected, with the possibility
11:56of up to 17 events such as tropical storms and hurricanes, some of them with the potential to reach
12:03categories four and five. Taking into account the experience of previous years, the country is
12:09recognized as being vulnerable both directly and indirectly to these phenomena, so the national
12:15authorities have assured that they will remain vigilant and in a constant state of alert.
12:24From the country's point of view, conditions are neutral, but we are going to have a greater
12:29probability of cyclones in greater numbers, and with greater frequency.
12:34The National System for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Response presented the plan to
12:46the National Assembly, highlighting a series of strategic axes that will strengthen institutional
12:51and community capacities to respond effectively to any meteorological emergency.
12:56The vital thing is the safeguarding of life, therefore all the protection mechanisms,
13:05health care, shelters, food must be ready, that is why these plans also start from each municipality,
13:13and it is the next step, that we are going to review critical sites municipality, by municipality,
13:20because it is fundamental.
13:32In contrast to the neoliberal governments, where in Menagua alone there were more than 130 critical points
13:42levels, since 2007 the Sandinistic government, has directed the execution of multiple works,
13:50and mitigation projects, significantly reducing these risks.
13:57We have been reducing the critical points of the city of Menagua, every year we have been advancing,
14:03the exposed population has also been reducing, let's remember that it was a city that had 130 critical
14:09points, more than 30,000 families living in critical points in Menagua, and that has been reducing,
14:16at this moment we are locating a little more than 2,000 families of 30,000 that there were,
14:21and critical points, we only have 52 of them, that we are still working on.
14:39As part of the preventive approach, multi-hazard exercises have also been carried out throughout
14:48the country to prepare the population on how to act and evacuate in the event of a natural disaster,
14:54thus reinforcing a culture of prevention and effective response.

15:28Hi.
15:34Welcome back.
15:58In Palestine, the Hamas resistance movement announced that they approved the U.S. ceasefire
16:03proposal while awaiting the Israeli response.
16:05In an official statement, Hamas stated that the possible agreement contains a permanent
16:10ceasefire, the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the entry of humanitarian
16:15aid, and a professional committee to manage the enclave's civil affairs once the formal
16:19announcement of the settlement is made official.
16:21In this context, the proposal was presented by the United States Special Envoy Steve Witkoff,
16:26who also assures that the ceasefire could take place in the next few days.
16:29On the other hand, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres assured that he is closely
16:33following the developments and is in permanent contact with Qatar and all the parties.
16:41And in Gaza, Palestinians have strongly rejected the presence of U.S.-backed aid centers, expressing
16:49deep mistrust and concern that Washington aims to impose a control mechanism under military
16:55oversight.
16:56The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, supported by the U.S. and Israel and employing armed U.S.
17:02security personnel, seeks to bypass the United Nations as the primary aid distributor, requiring
17:06Palestinians to undergo identity checks and screenings for alleged Hamas ties to access aid.
17:13Many Palestinians have avoided these centers, viewing the initiative as a politicized and militarized
17:18effort that undermines humanitarian principles and threatens vulnerable populations.
17:23And during a United Nations Security Council session in New York on May 28, the permanent representative
17:36of Palestine, Riyad Mansour, broke down in tears while describing the critical humanitarian
17:41situation in Gaza.
17:42Visibly shocked, Mansour appealed for international aid in response to the tragedy affecting thousands
17:47of Palestinian children and families.
17:50Describing the situation as unbearable for any normal human being.
17:53Gaza has been facing a devastating war with Israel for more than a year and a half and the situation
17:59has worsened in recent weeks due to a blockade preventing the entry of food and medicine.
18:04According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 54,000 people have died.
18:09Mansour denounced the indescribable suffering of its people and criticized the world's inaction.
18:18Email them to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 57,000 people have died.
18:33and around 4,000 have been injured.
18:40These are children.
18:42Children.
18:46And still a war against barbarism.
18:50Children, doesn't.
18:55Children are dying of starvation.
18:58The images of mothers embracing their motionless bodies,
19:07caressing their hair,
19:10talking to them,
19:13apologizing to them.
19:18It's unbearable.
19:20How could anyone...
19:23Don't hurt me.
19:26It's hard.
19:32Excuse me, Mr. President.
19:38Father Moore, Mansoor highlighted the double standards
19:41of the United Nations calling out the organization
19:43for ignoring the massacre of Palestinians.
19:47Nothing can justify attacking civilians,
19:50whether Palestinians or Israelis.
19:55Double standards no more.
19:58We are human beings.
20:00We are proud Palestinians.
20:02We sit around this table.
20:05We should be treated exactly like everybody else.
20:09Not to see what you want to see in the mirror
20:12and to ignore the obvious,
20:14the huge elephant in the room,
20:16the Palestinian people.
20:17China launched a space probe
20:24on its first ever mission
20:26to retrieve samples from an asteroid
20:28and return them to Earth
20:29for scientific research.
20:31This ambitious endeavor
20:32marks a significant milestone
20:33in Beijing's multi-billion dollar space program,
20:36which is a key component
20:37of President Xi Jinping's vision
20:39for China's space dream.
20:41The mission aims to advance
20:42China's capabilities
20:43in deep space exploration
20:45and contribute valuable data
20:47to the global scientific community.
20:49The probe will travel millions of kilometers
20:51to reach the target asteroid,
20:53collect surface material,
20:54and safely bring the samples back to Earth.
20:57This mission follows China's recent successes
21:00in lunar exploration
21:01and demonstrates the country's growing ambitions
21:04to become a leading space power.
21:05And China has pledged to support
21:13Pacific Island countries
21:14in addressing climate change
21:16by implementing 100 small
21:17but impactful projects
21:19over the next three years.
21:21This commitment was announced
21:22by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi
21:24during the third
21:25China-Pacific Island countries
21:26Foreign Minister's meeting
21:28held in Xiamen.
21:29Projects will focus on areas
21:31such as clean energy,
21:32fisheries,
21:33ocean protection,
21:34low-carbon infrastructure,
21:35tourism,
21:36disaster prevention,
21:37and mitigation
21:37to help these
21:38multiple island nations
21:39enhance their climate resilience
21:41and sustainable development.
21:43The initiative aligns
21:44with China's broader
21:45Belt and Road Strategy
21:46and its commitment
21:48to South-South cooperation,
21:50emphasizing fairness
21:51and equity
21:51in global climate governance.
