00:23drainage system, HDP and other civic facilities. However, authority systems have failed to
00:30meet up to the expectations. On May 26th rainfall, Bela, one of the prominent known in Namibai
00:36flooded. Sector 4, 11, 5 and adjoining area flooded following heavy rainfall. And it happened because
00:45of the lapses in the engineering department. They have created a bond to prevent heightened waters

01:17the flooding situation in Belapur?

02:58Actually, I am not the expert person in civil or engineering section, but being a taxpayer
03:06of Navi Mumbai and as a common citizen, what we observe that I can say that what the situation
03:15arises on 26th May in CBD Bailapur is not only due to the heavy rain, but main reason
03:22beyond that is the administrative and engineering point of losses in the work is the major reason
03:31beyond that.
03:32Because whatever I observe here is that in a natural way, the water comes in the holding
03:40pond and after that it goes to the khadi.
03:45But due to this work and the bund they have constructed during the work, it has been kept
03:54as it is, even though there is a monsoon period.
03:58And because of that bund, what happened is that all the water, that rainy water gets stagnant
04:07behind that bund and because of that flooded situation arises in the CBD Bailapur.
04:13So my humble request to the state government and NMMC commissioner is that I don't want
04:19to blame anyone.
04:20But only thing is that the situation should not be repeated henceforth.
04:25And for that, the technical reason behind that should be investigated properly.
04:31And the appropriate action, remedial action should be taken in such a way that we, the citizens
04:38of NMMC commissioner should not face what we face on the 26th of May 2025.
04:45Right now I am standing at Bailapur and this is the flap gate which is being constructed
04:50to prevent high-tech waters to enter in the holding pond and in the city.
04:55However, this under construction flap gate was closed with a bund that prevented waters to
05:03release in the sea during heavy rainfall on May 26th and due to which several areas in
05:10Bailapur flooded.
05:11Up to 4 to 5 feet water was accumulated in sector 11, 12, 4 and 5 and other areas in Bailapur.
05:20Several offices face trouble due to water entering the office and even few businesses like hotels
05:28they face problem after water entered in their premises.
05:32And this happened because of the bund was created to prevent high-tech waters enter in
05:39holding pond.
05:40However, what happened during heavy rainfall, the holding pond behind me was over flooded
05:45and it couldn't release because there was a bund created to prevent high-tide waters.
05:50But what happened rain water couldn't release through the bund and these waters enter in the city area
05:58and most of the area in Bailapur get flooded.
06:02It is noted here that Bailapur is one of the prime locations in Nabi Mumbai which houses
06:07Reserves of India, Police Commissioner Office and Public Sector Banks core banking facilities.
