00:52And in Venezuela, as part of the Return to the Homeland Plan,
00:5619 new nationals deported from the United States arrived in the country in a plane from Honduras.
01:08Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos.
01:12I'm from Incessary Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
01:26This Wednesday, May 28th marks 600 days of the genocidal Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip
01:39and the regime's bombardment as they forced displacement and famine have decimated the population.
01:45During this period, the Israeli occupation army has killed more than 54,000 people,
01:51mostly women and children, and wounded over 123,000,
01:56while the health authorities warn the number of victims is much higher
01:59as thousands of bodies still lay under the rubble.
02:03In addition, the Zionist army has abducted thousands of civilians
02:07and killed members of the press in an attempt to silence the extent of the genocide
02:12as it systematically strikes refugee camps and hospitals,
02:16destroying the territory's infrastructure.
02:19Moreover, since March 2nd, the occupation has applied a policy of systematic starvation
02:25against approximately 2.4 million Ghazan citizens,
02:30closing the border crossings and halting the entry of humanitarian aid to the enclave.
02:35In a deliberate massacre, Israel killed three people and wounded dozens of others seeking food
02:49at a humanitarian aid distribution point in Gaza, while the Palestinian population is subjected to famine.
02:55On the first day of operations of the controversial Israeli-U.S. organization Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,
03:02thousands of Palestinians fought against the assault of Israeli military helicopters and gunfire
03:08to obtain basic supplies in Rafa.
03:12Gaza authorities said that in addition to the dead and wounded,
03:15several individuals were missing due to the stampede that followed.
03:20The siege took place in the midst of a widespread famine
03:22after Israel blocked for three months the entry of food and medicine to the devastated Palestinian enclave.
03:30And the Israeli regime approved the construction of 22 new illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank,
03:45despite calls to stop its expansionist policy.
03:48According to Israeli media, the proposal approved on Tuesday was presented beforehand
03:53by the Israeli minister of military affairs, Israel Katz, and the minister of finance, Bezalels Modric.
04:01The Palestinian presidency stated that the approval constitutes a dangerous escalation
04:06that drugs the region into a cycle of violence and instability in the territory.
04:10The international community describes Israeli settlements in the West Bank as illegal
04:15because they are built in areas where the Geneva Conventions forbid construction in the occupied territories.
04:34And the Palestinian-resistant movement Hamas accepted on Tuesday a truce proposal
04:39seeking a 70-day ceasefire with the genocidal Israeli regime in Gaza.
04:44The U.S. proposal mediated by Qatar and Egypt includes the release of 10 Israeli hostages in two phases,
04:51the entry of 1,000 trucks of aid per day, the withdrawal of Israeli troops,
04:56and U.S. guarantees for a full cessation of hostilities.
05:00With this, the movement expects the end of the genocide by Tel Aviv,
05:04the reconstruction of Gaza, and the lifting of the food blockade.
05:08All of the above is happening in parallel to the advance of genocidal actions
05:12that have already left more than 53,000 Palestinian deaths.
05:25And meanwhile, in Spain, around 300 demonstrators spoke out with pots and pans
05:31in front of the Israeli Assembly and embassy to denounce the Zionist genocide in Gaza.
05:38The call was promoted by the Camp for Palestine in Madrid,
05:43which had gathered hundreds of people under the slogan,
05:46here are the anti-Sionists carrying the flag of Palestine.
05:51During the peaceful protest, demonstrators called for the immediate cessation of the attacks,
05:56a request to the Spanish government for the immediate embargo of arms to Israel,
06:00the protection of the civilian population and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid
06:06to the affected areas.
06:09The devastation of vital infrastructures such as farmland and greenhouses
06:12was also denounced, citing recent reports showing the extent of the damage.
06:17We go now to Sudan, as the Ministry of Health said that at least 170 people
06:33had been infected with cholera and died.
06:35The United Nations Children's Fund previously reported that East and Southern Africa
06:41are facing a serious cholera outbreak,
06:43and that as of 2024, more than 178,000 cases were reported.
06:50It also stated that over 1,300 people died in the second half of 2024 in Sudan
06:56due to this cholera outbreak.
06:58The World Health Organization added that about 32,000 people died as a result of the conflict in Sudan.
07:06Nearly 32,000 citizens became displaced,
07:09and some 20 million are in need of humanitarian assistance.

12:31which were resistant to antibiotics

12:38The Ministry of Health confirmed that the victims were patients hospitalized for other pathologies
12:42and that it is not yet known whether these deaths were caused directly by the drug
12:48or by circumstances that derived from it.
12:51Federal Judge Ernesto Kreplak ordered raids to laboratories and drugstores
12:56in addition to requesting a detailed report of all the patients who died
13:00or were infected as it is suspected that the real figure could be higher.
13:05Meanwhile, health authorities are working to recover the entire contaminated batch

13:30And we stay in Argentina as the continuity of the trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona
