State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce was asked about talks between Russia and Ukraine, and US involvement in securing a ceasefire.

00:00Yeah, I have two questions. The first one is about Russia and Ukraine. We're seeing
00:04the Secretary of State several times saying that the U.S. are closing to stepping back
00:12in different ways, and we know the U.S. did play several cards. So what can we expect if this is
00:18happening? It means providing more weapons to Ukraine in order to leverage with the Russian,
00:24or just it means doing nothing? Well, President Trump and Secretary Rubio have said
00:29multiple times that this is not a war that can be solved through the military and through violence,
00:36that it has to be done diplomatically. At the same time, you've heard President Trump note that
00:41there has to be direct talks between the parties, direct talks between Russia and Ukraine,
00:48and also President Rubio's comments now for weeks that unless there was progress,
00:54that our approach would change not our support for ceasefire or helping to achieve it, but the issue
01:02of mediating might adjust. As of right now, of course, there's a lot that's in flux, and President
01:10Putin is getting a sense of President Trump's anger at the nature of what's transpiring. But I think that
01:19it's clear that both parties need to begin to look at this situation in a direct way with each other
01:25to make the difference at this point.
