Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump said he was satisfied with safety after signing executive orders to spur nuclear development.

00:00These brilliant people, they are brilliant people, actually.

00:02Mr. President, on nuclear, sir, a lot of the concern over the years that's helped the nuclear industry back has been about safety.

00:10Are you satisfied with those safety concerns?

00:12Yeah, we are. It's become very safe. Actually, it's become very safe.

00:16And tremendous work's been done on that, more than anything else.

00:19And it's really the automatic shutoffs.

00:22There's so many different things that they have now that they would have never had.

00:25You know, my uncle was a great nuclear person years ago, and that was a different.

00:31If you would have asked that question, probably it would have been a much different answer.

00:34But they have tremendous shutoff power and other powers that and very redundant, as I understand it, at a level that nobody's ever seen before.

00:44So it's safe. And we're going to do a lot of the small ones and we're going to do some of the big ones.

00:49But, yeah, very safe, safe and clean.

00:52Let's keep it on this for a little while.
