Police believe the driver who ploughed through the Liverpool victory parade acted alone, with a 53-year-old man arrested

00:00First my thoughts are with all those injured in tonight's horrific incident
00:04their family and friends and all of those affected by the terrible tragedy that has taken place today
00:11I want to thank all of the emergency services, partner agencies and members of the public
00:17who came to the assistance of the injured following this evening's shocking incidents
00:23which we declared a major incident
00:25This had been a joyous day in Liverpool with hundreds of thousands of people
00:29lining the streets to celebrate Liverpool Football Club's Victory Parade
00:34Sadly, at 6 o'clock this evening, as the parade was drawing to a close
00:40we received reports that a car had been in a collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street in Liverpool's city centre
00:48The car stopped at the scene and a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area was arrested
00:55We believe him to be the driver of the vehicle
00:58I know that people will understandably be concerned by what has happened tonight
01:04What I can tell you is that we believe this to be an isolated incident
01:10and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to it
01:15The incident is not being treated as terrorism
01:20I know that people will be treated as fear eventually
01:22But from there I can tell you that we are a lot of people going over on the outside
01:24We believe this to be an isolated incident
01:26And we are not being treated as a tragedy

01:29That is not being treated as a tragedy
