00:00More support has been made available for those flood affected communities on the New South Wales mid-north coast.
00:10Today the first disaster recovery centre will be opened in Taree and some of the services they can provide is helping people navigate their insurance claims.
00:21We've heard from the Insurance Council of Australia who say already there have been more than 4,000 insurance claims lodged
00:29and that number is only expected to increase.
00:33We've also heard those rapid damage assessments are continuing in many communities such as Port Macquarie's North Shore across the water behind me
00:42but also in Taree, Kempsey as well, many others too.
00:47There are 10,000 properties which authorities believe are flood affected.
00:52They've already inspected about 3,000.
00:55They've found 500 properties are uninhabitable now and more than 300 of those are homes.
01:02The Prime Minister is expected to visit flood ravaged communities on the mid-north coast today
01:08and the Australian Defence Force is also sending about 70 personnel to assist with the clean-up
01:15but also to door knock and do welfare checks.
01:19We know there is a massive mental health concern following this disaster.
01:24There's also some grants available.
01:27If you're in the four local government areas, the federal government has identified as some of the worst affected.
01:34You may be eligible for 13 weeks of lost income.
01:38Then there's also broader grants available, some $900 for families and just under $200 for adults across 19 local government areas.
01:50But of course, these communities are still in need of support, particularly primary producers are calling out for support.
01:58And there's also a need for more volunteers on the ground as these communities continue to clean out the damage that has been caused by this massive flood event.
02:11So for children, there are many other police agencies.
02:14So, the more people shouldn't have provided here so as it'll be a miracle win for a while to try to start,
02:18their governments are currently available.
