00:00There's Katie.
00:01Yeah, and there's me, look, in the sky as the sun.
00:04Oh yeah, maybe it's fancy dress.
00:06Maybe.
00:07That's weird, isn't it?
00:08It is weird, isn't it?
00:09I think we should...
00:10Biddy!
00:11Yes!
00:12Get that in your mouth, Dodge!
00:14Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy, dodgy!
00:16Yes!
00:17Yes!
00:18What brilliant dodgy doodles!
00:19Keep them coming in to CBBC at bbc.co.uk.
00:22On the other hand, you can post them to dodgydoodles,

00:28But for now, here's Sarah Jane's Alien Files. Enjoy.
00:32My name is Sarah Jane Smith, and I defend the world from aliens.
00:36These are my alien files.
00:38The collected information gathered by me and the rest of the Bannerman Road gang
00:43about extraterrestrials that have threatened our planet and might do so again.
00:50The universe is amazing, and don't be fooled by what some people might tell you.
00:55It's full of strange and wonderful life.
00:57I've met so much of it out there among the stars, and here on Earth,
01:01but not all of it is friendly.
01:04Pay attention, because one day, Earth might be depending on you.
01:16Entering the alien files this time are Sarah Jane's nemesis, the trickster,
01:21and Kryzlok, the time-travelling grask.
01:28Mr. Smith? I need you.
01:37Hello, Sarah Jane. How can I help you?
01:40Mr. Smith, I think I've made a terrible mistake.
01:43Earth could be in terrible danger, and it's all my fault.
01:46Forgive me, Sarah Jane, but my current scans detect only three
01:50Ascetian trading vessels passing through immediate solar space,
01:54and they present no threat to Earth.
01:56I'm not sure that I understand your concern.
01:59We've saved the planet so many times, but what happens if one day we're not there?
02:03Might I inquire in what circumstances you foresee your absence?
02:07I can't go on doing this forever, and the others have lives to live.
02:11Look, studies are important.
02:13I can't expect him to be popping back from university every weekend to deal with an alien threat, so...
02:17If you'll allow me, Sarah Jane, I do have a suggestion.
02:21No, no. What if we...
02:22Create a comprehensive database of all the extraterrestrial life that you have encountered.
02:27Pooling our knowledge for future generations.
02:29Itemizing the strengths and weaknesses of alien beings, hostile or otherwise.
02:34So that if we're not there and the world needs saving, there will be someone else who knows what to do.
02:38An excellent plan, Sarah Jane.
02:41Right, let's get started.
02:42Alien files preparing to upload.
02:45Information gathering commences in three, two, one...
02:53Sarah Jane, which life form would you like me to process first?
02:57Let's start with the worst one, the Trickster.
03:01A worthy entry to the files.
03:03The more that is known about his malevolent practices, the better.
03:08The Trickster is a member of the semi-mythical extradimensional coalition of beings, known as the Pantheon of Discord.
03:15I have no idea what the rest of the Pantheon are like, but if the Trickster is anything to go by,
03:19you wouldn't want them moving in next door.
03:21Just the thought of that creature makes me shudder.
03:23Mr. Smith, more facts about the Trickster, please.
03:26Like the ancient lights, the Trickster is a transcendental being.
03:30He leads the Trickster's brigade,
03:32members of which include the Time Needle and the Fortune Teller,
03:36who famously targeted the Doctor's companion, Donna Noble.
03:40Behind his long, cowled cloak and hood,
03:43the Trickster has an almost invisible presence.
03:46Beyond his long, cowled cloak and hood, the Trickster has an almost featureless face.
03:51Whether this is his natural state or one adopted to cause fear in his victims is unknown.
03:58He possesses the ability to gain absolute power over humans and extraterrestrials
04:04by preying on the weakness of those about to die at the moment of their death.
04:10His objective is to create chaos,
04:13and his extradimensional form means he struggles to enter physical reality.
04:17To sum up, the Trickster is formidable and ingenious.
04:22Be vigilant. This alien is ruthless in pursuing his underhand schemes.
04:27I remember the first time the Trickster came into my life.
04:30Luke had only been with me a little while, and it was before Maria went to Washington.
04:35There was a meteor on a collision course with Earth, but we had it under control.
04:40Or so we thought.
04:44We were relying on you, Mr. Smith, to deal with the threat from the potentially deadly meteor K67.
04:50It was approaching Earth in a radar blind spot, so the authorities knew nothing about it.
04:55The plan was for you to bounce the meteor back out into space with a massive magnetic pulse.
05:01Mr. Smith, how long do we have?
05:04The meteor will be in range of the magnetic pulse at 2.45 p.m. tomorrow.
05:08All systems are prepared.
05:10You see? No worries.
05:12I know, but you can't help thinking if it wasn't for Sarah Jane, we'd all be dead.
05:19Enter the Trickster.
05:23He knew that we were protecting Earth from the meteor, so his devious plan was to get rid of me altogether.
05:29That night, while we all slept, the Trickster used transdimensional energy to remove Luke and I from the face of the Earth.
05:38So there was a shock for Maria when she came to visit us next morning.
05:42Sorry, is Sarah Jane there?
05:44Say again?
05:45Sarah Jane?
05:46One of your mates from school, is that?
05:48No. Sarah Jane. This is her house.
05:52Maria, love, I like a laugh, but it's only half nine in the morning.
05:56Is Luke there?
05:57Who?
06:01I can't imagine what it must have been like for Maria.
06:04I can't imagine what it must have been like for Maria.
06:06Waking up one morning to find everything had changed, and only she knew that something had gone very wrong.
06:15Maria still remembered me, because while she had slept the night before, she'd been holding an alien puzzle box I'd given her,
06:22and that preserved her memory.
06:24But for everyone else, it was as if I had never existed.
06:28I knocked on the door, and there's this woman stood there.
06:31Hold on, what door?
06:32Sarah Jane's house, number 13.
06:34Andrea's?
06:35What?
06:36Who's Sarah Jane?
06:38What the trickster had done was change history by targeting my childhood.
06:43It'll come all the way to the seaside. I want to see the flaming sea.
06:46When I was a girl in the 1960s, I had a very good friend, Andrea Yates.
06:53Andrea!
06:54But Andrea had died in a tragic accident.
06:57Andrea!
06:58Andrea!
07:03The trickster had managed to change all that, using transdimensional powers to rewrite history so that Andrea had lived on and I had died.
07:14He had done this by traveling back in time to 1964 to tempt Andrea at the moment she was about to die.
07:21Andrea!
07:23All that doesn't have to be you, you only have to agree.
07:28Help! Help!
07:30I need your answer, I can't help. That herd are in your place.
07:34Yes! Yes!
07:37Andrea, help me!
07:39What happened? Sarah Jane! Sarah, take my hand!
07:43So our places were swapped.
07:47Sarah, take my hand!
07:52Maria was left trying to make sense of this altered timeline, where I had died at 13 and the grown-up Andrea was now living on Bannerman Road.
08:03Meddling with timelines like this is a typical trickster tactic and it's vital that it gets recorded in the alien files, otherwise anyone would be as baffled as Maria was.
08:15In the new reality that the trickster had created, with no me and no you, Mr. Smith, there was no one to stop the meteor that was on its way.
08:23Mr. Smith, I need you!
08:26And only Maria knew this.
08:28Mr. Smith?
08:31She kept a clear head though, working out that Andrea must be at the heart of all this.
08:36This isn't your house! This is some kind of time gone wrong! Because in my world, the way things should have been, you died!
08:45Get out!
08:47It was an awful situation for a young girl to have to cope with alone.
08:51And for poor Maria, things were about to get even worse.
08:56Because now that the terrible truth about her childhood was out in the open, Andrea was desperate.
09:02Why are you calling me now?
09:04Maria Jackson over the road. All of a sudden she keeps going on about Sarah Jane.
09:11She knows what I did that day. Make her forget.
09:18I can't. And I can remove her.
09:21Remove her where?
09:23This need not concern you. But I need your agreement.
09:28Do I have your agreement?
09:30Do I have your agreement?
09:35Yes!
09:36Charged to carry out Maria's removal was a mean little pest.
09:43His name was Chrislock, and he was a Grask.
09:48You could say he was a pretty typical example of the Grask species. Aggressive, mean, and not much in the way of manners.
09:56Uploading data on the Grask now, Sarah Jane.
10:00The Grask come from the planet Griffith, one of 27 planets once stolen by the Daleks and removed to the Medusa Cascade.
10:09The similarity in appearance of all Grasks encountered so far makes it possible that like the Sontarans, they are a clone race.
10:17Grasks are less than one meter tall, with brown scaly skin and three tentacles on their heads.
10:24Not much of a looker, you'd have to say.
10:28The Grask's diminutive stature means they are not renowned for physical strength.
10:33But making up for that are snare cables and both the ability to take on human form and travel through time.
10:44Chrislock was enslaved by the Trickster in the same way Andrea has been.
10:49Do I have your agreement?
10:50Agree! Agree!
10:52To sum up, the Grask is brutish and unscrupulous.
10:56Despite his size, he is extremely dangerous.
10:59Especially the super accuracy of his snare gun.
11:03Nasty little man.
11:05But somehow, you have to feel sorry for him.
11:08Imagine being enslaved to the Trickster for eternity.
11:13A most unenviable fate, Sarah Jane.
11:18Not that Chrislock was showing Maria any sympathy.
11:22He was under orders from the Trickster to capture her and remove her from history too.
11:38Using his snare gun and teleporter, he transported her away to Limbo.
11:43A terrifying experience that I sincerely hope knowledge of these alien files will prevent anyone else having to suffer.
11:51Where is this?
11:52You tell me.
11:58I was so pleased to see Maria.
12:00I wasn't sure if I would ever see anybody ever again.
12:03But now she was trapped in Limbo with me.
12:06Who was there back on Earth to stop the Trickster's plan?
12:10While Maria and I were marooned in Limbo, back on Earth, the meteor, big enough to destroy the planet, was in sight and getting closer.
12:20That's real though! I mean, that's real! There's no way of stopping it!
12:24Time for an unlikely hero to foil the Trickster and Chrislock's plan to wipe out the Earth.
12:29In the shape of Alan Jackson, Maria's dad.
12:32Set me free!
12:34And then show me how to get my daughter back here.
12:36Now!
12:38He'd been holding the puzzle box at the moment that Maria had been removed from history.
12:42So he could still remember her and was desperate to get her back.
12:49The snare will retrieve her.
12:56Maria!
12:59Maria!
13:01Maria!
13:06Maria!
13:09Dad, you're a genius!
13:10No, no, no, listen. The meteor, you were right, it's heading straight for us.
13:14We can stop it, but we need Sarah Jane. She's the only person who can save us.
13:19Using Chrislock's snare gun, Alan got me back to the attic from Limbo.
13:23Kind of.
13:27Not you.
13:29Because I still inhabited a parallel reality, I could only be seen as a reflection in the mirror.
13:37But as the meteor got ever closer, the only person who could really put things right was Andrea herself.
13:44Sarah Jane!
13:45And sadly, in situations like this, there's only one way to beat the Trickster.
13:50And it comes at a cost.
13:52Andrea Yates. We wanted to kill you all over again.
13:58Remember your bargain with me.
14:02You tricked me.
14:05You used a child.
14:07And now you're destroying the Earth.
14:10Chaos is good.
14:13Well, I say no.
14:16If there's one thing I can do with my life, I can put a stop to you for good.
14:20I've changed my mind. I'm taking the deal back.
14:24Then you will die.
14:27Andrea! Grab my hand! Grab my hand! Grab my hand, Andrea!
14:33Remember me.
14:39Andrea did the right thing in the end.
14:42I'm back.
14:43And the changes to history were corrected.
14:47And so, Mr. Smith, we were able to activate your magnetic pulse in the nick of time.
14:55No!
15:01And the planet was saved from total annihilation once more.
15:05Not that that was the last we'd hear from the Trickster.
15:08Far from it.
15:10If you ever have to face the Trickster, you need to know as much as possible about how he operates.
15:16Remember, he'll stop at nothing.
15:19He knows I am there to prevent him, and his tireless efforts to get rid of me have brought turmoil into my life.
15:25Be warned, he will try to do the same to anyone who stands in his way.
15:29It's crucial that you remain vigilant in opposing the Trickster's attempts to plunge the planet into chaos.
15:36Go ahead, Sarah Jane.
15:38Additional memory space allocated for further alien files upload on the Trickster's methods.
15:43Thank you, Mr. Smith.
15:46Whoa.
15:49I'd better stop doing that.
15:51Believe me, a life dealing with aliens means you have to be ready for anything.
15:55I thought nothing could surprise me.
15:58I don't quite know how to say this.
16:00Until I met the wonderful Peter Dalton and fell in love.
16:04That was something I had not been expecting.
16:07Sarah Jane, I love you.
16:11Good, because the funny thing is...
16:14I love you too.
16:16Usually, as a journalist, it's me asking the big questions, but not on this occasion.
16:22Will you marry me?
16:24Oh, it's beautiful.
16:26Peter, I love you.
16:29Which means...
16:31Yes, of course. Yes, yes, yes.
16:35How could I have imagined that me falling in love could in any way be part of a Trickster plot to get rid of me?
16:42I recall that Clyde, Luke and Rani did think that you'd been behaving oddly.
16:47You weren't acting like the Sarah Jane we all know.
16:50How could I ever expect you to understand, Mr. Smith?
16:53That was love.
16:56I had no idea they were spying on me, though.
16:59Oh, no, they're not gonna...
17:01Oh, people are eating.
17:11Wow. Just wow.
17:14Nobody over 22 should be doing that in public, actually at all.
17:19They say that love is blind, but there was something else even more powerful going on here.
17:25It was as if the beautiful ring Peter had given me was somehow controlling me...
17:29and blinding me to the truth that Peter was not all he seemed.
17:35Clyde and Rani, of course, were as inquisitive as ever.
17:39Looking up Peter's gaff. 120 Christchurch Walk, W4.
17:44Nice place.
17:48That's weird. There's a for sale sign.
17:52And newspapers in the windows. It looks empty.
17:55Ah, that's Sarah Jane.
17:57But Luke told me that she'd never been to his place.
18:02Right, let's go round there.
18:04Are you joking? Sarah Jane's happy. Isn't that important?
18:08Yeah. And I want her to stay happy.
18:11Good old Clyde and Rani. Always looking out for me.
18:14Not that I approve of housebreaking, mind.
18:17What?
18:19This place is creepy.
18:22It's freezing.
18:24We got the right address, didn't we?
18:25Of course we did.
18:27Look at this place.
18:29I knew it.
18:31Lair of the Living Dead.
18:33There could be a million reasons for this. I don't know.
18:36Is everything in storage?
18:37Oh, yeah.
18:43Sarah Jane, we went round to Peter's house.
18:46What? What do you mean?
18:48There's nothing there. It's empty.
18:50But the ring glowed on my finger and I was deaf to their warnings.
18:55I know it's empty.
18:57He doesn't really live there.
18:59His firm got him a flat in London, near the office.
19:03And you've been there?
19:05Plenty of times.
19:07That wasn't true.
19:09But unlike my usual self, I wasn't interested in asking questions.
19:13I'd only just met Peter and there was so much I didn't know about him.
19:17But we arranged to get married as soon as we could.
19:24I would have loved to have the doctor to give me away.
19:28But there was no chance of tracking him down.
19:30So it was my son Luke walking me up the aisle.
19:35We are here today to witness the marriage of Sarah Jane Smith and Peter Anthony Dalton.
19:41If any person can show just cause or impediment why they may not be joined together,
19:46let them speak now or forever hold their peace.
19:53Stop this wedding now!
19:56What?
19:57What's going on?
19:58Who the hell is that? I don't believe it.
20:01Who's he?
20:03The doctor did make it after all.
20:05But not in the way I'd hoped.
20:07He was there with a warning.
20:09Get away from him!
20:10No!
20:11Peter, no!
20:12Don't be afraid, Sarah Jane.
20:14It's the angel.
20:16The angel?
20:17I had no idea what Peter meant until another unexpected guest arrived, all in white.
20:23Trixie, let her go!
20:24Too late, my lord.
20:29You're mine, Sarah Jane Smith.
20:33Mine forever.
20:35Sarah!
20:37It was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.
20:41Ruined by the trickster.
20:44Sarah!
20:46The trickster had vanished, taking Peter and I with him,
20:49while the others were left behind, but transported to some kind of void.
20:56Where's Sarah Jane? Have we been walking in the same place at the same time?
21:01Shh!
21:04Here's the answer to all your questions.
21:06Yes, that was the trickster. Yes, we're trapped.
21:09Yes, I'm the only one who can get us out of the trap.
21:11Yes, I'm going to bring Sarah Jane and your mum and dad and all the others back safe,
21:15but I can't do any of it without you.
21:18I'd always hoped Luke, Clyde and Rani might meet the doctor one day,
21:23but not like this.
21:26Wait, we'll go all the way.
21:31That noise... I've heard it before.
21:34That was me, trying to break through. I got knocked back by the trickster.
21:37Temporal schism is preventing TARDIS materialisation.
21:41Wait a minute. That's the TARDIS.
21:44It's just a wooden box.
21:46Come on.
21:48You can do it. More power. Come on!
21:54OK, God, no TARDIS.
21:56It can't materialise here until time moves forward.
21:58Where is this? What's happened to the rest of the world?
22:02Our present location, nowhere, nowhen.
22:05Nowhen?
22:07Look at the clocks.
22:15Time's stopped.
22:16What?
22:18You're joking.
22:20No.
22:22Time hasn't stopped. This second's on a loop.
22:2623 seconds and 23 minutes past three o'clock.
22:29And we're caught inside it in this one second.
22:33But, again, where is Sarah Jane?
22:36I think she's right here.
22:42He was right, of course.
22:46She's here! She's here! Sarah!
22:50Doctor!
22:52Mum, that was her!
22:54Doctor and I were in the same place,
22:56but separated from the others by a time shift set up by the trickster,
23:00which had stranded us in the very next second.
23:03Time trap.
23:06And, weirder still, why on earth was the trickster interested in me getting married?
23:13I want you to be happy.
23:15Here is the life you will lead.
23:19Mr and Mrs Dalton!
23:21Since when has he wanted anyone to lead a nice, peaceful life?
23:25Least of all me.
23:27It is true the trickster has always shown an intense interest in you personally, Sarah Jane,
23:32but generally in a harmful way.
23:35He's brought more havoc into my life than any other alien I've encountered,
23:40and I've had to sacrifice so much to defeat him.
23:45Once more the trickster was toying with my emotions,
23:48but to what possible purpose?
23:50Yes! That's it!
23:51That's what?
23:52She promises to love and honour her husband, the wedding room goes on,
23:55then she's agreed to it and she's totally under the trickster's power.
23:57Married for bliss, but she forgets all about this.
24:00She starts living a new life.
24:02Forgetting about her old life?
24:04Protecting the Earth?
24:07And the planet's wide open, so aliens can just barge in?
24:11Without Sarah, without you lot, saving the world from your attic annealing,
24:15there'd be chaos and destruction.
24:17Meat and drink to the trickster.
24:19Meanwhile, I had to put Peter right about the so-called angel.
24:23The angel? That's what you call him?
24:26But he... it... it's a creature, an alien being.
24:31Please listen. I'll tell you everything.
24:33And Peter had some explaining to do.
24:36A few months ago I was working from home.
24:39I had a stupid accident. I fell down the stairs.
24:44I knew what was coming next.
24:46I thought I was going to die, then he appeared.
24:51Peter, I can give you life.
24:55And the true love you always longed for.
25:01Do I have your agreement?
25:03Yes.
25:05The awful truth was, although Peter and I loved each other dearly,
25:09the trickster had used him to get to me.
25:12And if I had married him, I too would have fallen under the trickster's command,
25:16leaving the way open for him to create chaos on Earth.
25:21That plan had been thwarted, but he still had stranded us all in this time trap,
25:26leaving Earth unprotected.
25:29There was only one person who had the power to put things right.
25:34Peter.
25:38But I'll lose you.
25:40I'll die.
25:42I don't want you to be alone.
25:44You said you'd do anything to save me.
25:47You love me. You know what you have to do.
25:51No!
25:57You got one thing exactly right.
26:00Sarah Jane and I, we were made for each other.
26:02We're the perfect match.
26:03And I know what you would do.
26:06But I chose you because you didn't have the strength.
26:13You really don't know my Sarah Jane, do you?
26:16She gave me the strength.
26:20And I withdraw my agreement.
26:23No!
26:26No.
26:34Sarah.
26:37Here I go.
26:41I wish I'd always known you.
26:44I love you, Peter.
26:46And I love you,
26:49Sarah Jane Dalton.
26:56He was a good man, Peter Dalton.
26:58And strong. Stronger than he'd ever realised.
27:02And when the time came, he did the right thing.
27:04He didn't just sacrifice himself to save me.
27:06He saved the whole world.
27:09And as for the trickster?
27:11I hope that's the last time we ever see him.
27:13But somehow, I doubt it.
27:16Recent scans have shown that Peter Dalton
27:18has been in contact with a number of people
27:20who have been in contact with him.
27:22I doubt it.
27:24Recent scans of immediate solar space
27:26have detected no sign of him.
27:28But his existence outside physical reality
27:30makes the trickster's movements
27:32notoriously difficult to follow.
27:35If he ever does come back,
27:36it's crucial not to be fooled by his promises.
27:38Remember this.
27:39If ever a deal seems too good to be true,
27:41then it probably is.
27:43And some deals are never worth the cost.
27:46To conclude Sarah Jane,
27:49Uploading two new entries into the Alien Files
27:52as a permanent record for all to learn
27:54about these deadly threats to Earth's safety.
28:00The Grask.
28:02A brutish and unscrupulous little fellow.
28:04More dangerous than his lack of stature would indicate.
28:08Beware of his super-accurate snare gun.
28:11It could whisk you away to limbo.
28:13The Trickster.
28:15A formidable and ingenious enemy.
28:17He is ruthless in preying on human weakness.
28:20Never agree to his underhand deals.
28:23He is not to be trusted under any circumstances.
28:28This is Sarah Jane Smith
28:30logging off after Alien Files Update.
28:32I sincerely hope you never have to use this information.
28:35But if you do,
