Coercive control is now a criminal offence in Queensland, with a maximum penalty of up to 14 years jail for adults who engage in a pattern of controlling behaviour.

New domestic violence laws are now in effect in Queensland,

making it illegal to engage in coercive or controlling behaviour.

but it's taken months to train police and the judiciary ahead of the laws taking effect.

Sue and Lloyd Clarke lost their daughter Hannah and three grandchildren
