I can certainly understand your comment that "this is so stupid". By today's standards, and to the 50s sci-fi neophyte, ir was a little stupid. But it had a lor more meaning than just on the surface. Remember, this was made not too long after the atomic bombs were dropped on 2 Japanese cities. That was still fresh in their minds. As the story goes, Godzilla was the result of a nuclear blast and the subsequent radiation.
