00:00We saw earlier this week Ramsgate had all the little boats go out, but it doesn't feel like

00:04Sheerness gets the same, it's almost forgotten maybe. Do you think we know right?

00:09We do feel that about our heritage here. We do have a plaque that says we're part of Operation

00:14Dynamo. It's now by the memorial. We'd love to see it recognised in the schools that our history

00:22is really forefront of the role that we've been. We're a tiny little island, but we've punched

00:27well above our weight in World War I and World War II. In fact, anyone who's invaded along the

00:34East Coast has tried Sheppey. We've got a huge amount, lots and lots of stories to tell, and

00:41we'd love the opportunity to tell people. If they do want to know, they've got five museums on the

00:46island. We can tell a good story. Good stuff. You mentioned to me you're a little bit puzzled by

00:52why Sheerness doesn't get the recognition of it. Is there any sort of answer you think of why?

00:58I have no idea. It's the passion that keeps us going. We give tours and talks of the island,

01:06and have coach parties, at least one a week, coming from not only all over Kent, but from Essex and

01:11further. And we give them a tour of the island, and they all come back and say, why don't we know this history?
