Transcript
00:00Yay!
00:07Hi, I'm Kerry Washington, and I am playing Pop Quiz with Mary Claire.
00:12Ready?
00:15Oh, God.
00:16Okay.
00:17The last song you got stuck in your head, it would be Cuff It.
00:21Faux.
00:22Show.
00:23It's the song of the year.
00:24There's no escaping it.
00:25And why would you want to?
00:30Word your friends would use to describe you.
00:35Oh, my gosh.
00:36I hate this question, always, because I feel like you should just ask my friends.
00:45I have friends here.
00:46Friends?
00:47What word would you use to describe me?
00:49Bossy.
00:50I'm so glad I asked my friends.
00:52Bossy.
00:53I'm a boss who's sometimes bossy, apparently.
01:00Do better, Kerry.
01:03Okay, here we go.
01:04Last book you read.
01:06Well, right now I'm reading Spare by Prince Harry, so I think that counts.
01:17Favorite dance move.
01:18I like a lot of dance moves.
01:21I like a lot.
01:22Let's see.
01:23Do I have a favorite dance move?
01:24Some microphones here.
01:25The classic WAP.
01:26That's the one that makes me feel silliest.
01:28Like, the...
01:29What's the WAP?
01:30It went...
01:33Does that count?
01:34Okay.
01:36Whoa!
01:37Oh, I have to do another one of these.
01:42How did you make your first dollar?
01:44I made my first dollar working for my mother, because she was the president of the Bronx Reading Council,
01:50and they used to always have these mailers, and so she would gather my cousins and I around the table,
01:55and we would fold up these flyers and stuff envelopes and close them, and she paid us.
02:01Which is really kind, now that I think about it, because she's my mother.
02:04She didn't have to pay me.
02:05So that's nice.
02:06What should every woman try at least once in her life?
02:17So many things.
02:20Every woman should try many, many, many different things in her life.
02:24But I think what every woman should try at least once in her life is to withstand the feelings of disappointing other people,
02:33to do what feels right to you.
02:36It feels really good.
02:41Guilty pleasure watch on TV or streamer.
02:43I don't believe in this whole guilty pleasure watch thing.
02:47I feel like if it gives you pleasure, no guilt.
02:49Things that give you pleasure should be happy things.
02:51No guilt.
02:52So the things that give me pleasure when I watch them...
02:58I used to really, really, really love Ayanla Fix My Life on OWN.
03:02I was really sad when Ayanla ended that show.
03:05She's amazing.
03:10Do you have any secret talents?
03:13I'm learning that I have really good capacity to love lizards.
03:18Because my son has a lizard named Spiral.
03:20And I love Spiral more than I ever thought that I could love an amphibian.
03:25Reptile?
03:26Not sure.
03:27But I love him.
03:28Do I have them on my face right now?
03:34Oh, go to late night snack.
03:37Ugh.
03:38Um, I am a dark chocolate lover.
03:42Like above 70%, above 80% if possible.
03:46Like a good dark chocolate.
03:48It is my happy place.
03:50And you can never have too much of it.
03:53There's not enough of it in the world for me.
03:55You're welcome.
03:59All right.
04:00This one says, what makes you feel most powerful or confident?
04:05I think the thing that makes me feel most powerful and confident is when I am really in a faithful place.
04:15Like when I feel close to God, to my spiritual practices.
04:19When I feel like I'm trusting in kind of my higher power.
04:24Then it allows me to feel more confident and powerful.
04:30What advice would you give your younger self?
04:33Oh dear.
04:34I mean, I would want to tell my younger self to just relax.
04:40I would want to tell my younger self that it's going to be okay and to just try to enjoy the journey.
04:47But I know that some of that, like, desire and drive is part of how I have the life I have today.
04:55But I would just want her to, like, trust more.
04:58And be, like, excited and ambitious.
05:01But without as much fear and worry.
05:06The number one thing on your bucket list.
05:08Well, I've recently learned that you're not supposed to call it a bucket list.
05:11You're supposed to call it a live-it list.
05:14So, I have a few.
05:15I'll say two.
05:16One is to visit County Kerry in Ireland.
05:19Because I've never been there.
05:20And I'm named after County Kerry.
05:21So, I feel like that's a big one.
05:22And then I really want to see the Northern Lights.
05:25Two more.
05:29The penultimate question is.
05:31Most star-struck moment.
05:34I've done two movies with Sir Anthony Hopkins.
05:37And the first time that I worked with him, I was super nervous about meeting him.
05:42Because he's one of my favorite actors of all time.
05:44And I ran into him at craft service.
05:46And he, of course, was very calm.
05:48But I was, like, shaking and nervous and didn't know what to say to him.
05:53And he was so kind and so sweet.
05:55And I'm really grateful that he was so kind and so sweet.
05:58Because it was crazy embarrassing.
05:59I don't get star-struck a lot, but that was one for me.
06:02The last silver balloon is apparently a bonus question.
06:06Lord help me.
06:08Okay.
06:09Here we go.
06:10Whew!
06:11Tell us your story in six words.
06:15What?
06:16Oh, God.
06:17Okay.
06:18My story in six words.
06:21This is so hard.
06:24Everything's seven words.
06:25Okay, wait.
06:26Let me try.
06:27Bronx girl finds meaning in the journey.
06:32That's seven.
06:33But you'll have to accept it.
06:34All right, everybody.
06:37That's a wrap.
06:38All right, everybody, that's a wrap.
