00:00The Cardinals win 11-4.
00:01St. Louis has now won 13 of its last 15 games
00:06and yet not a favorite today.
00:07Why?
00:08Tarek Skubal on the bump for Detroit.
00:11Minus 186.
00:12Live Moneyline price.
00:13A total of 7.5.
00:16Will the Tigers bounce back with Skubal getting the start?
00:19Yeah, this is one of those games where you tell,
00:21hey, Skip, man, my knee a little flared up on me overnight.
00:25You know, maybe I want to sit down this one.
00:26Not really sure if I want to play in that Cardinals lineup.
00:28Why?
00:28Because Tarek Skubal has been nothing short of an absolute force
00:32on the season and particularly over the last 30 days.
00:35You take a look at his last 30 days,
00:36spent 118 batters that he's faced,
00:39a walk percentage at under 2%.
00:41But how about a combined strikeout percentage of 39%?
00:46That's astronomically high.
00:47An ISO power number against 063,
00:49a weighted on base percentage of 231.
00:51Let's get in analytically here.
00:53He's had 30 innings over the past 30 days that he's pitched.
00:56An ERA of 2.67.
00:57But look at the analytical numbers.
00:59A fifth of 1.32 and an XFIP of 1.56.
01:03Good luck touching him today.
01:04Now, on the opposite side,
01:06Eric Fetty is a pitcher that does have a higher XFIP number,
01:09but he's been decent over the past 30 days.
01:11If you look at his ERA, Ben,
01:13a 3.45, but that XFIP number had 4.84.
01:16He was decent in his last start.
01:17Now, the one thing that he's been doing well here is on the season,
01:20doing well as a right-handed pitcher against left-handed batters.
01:24An ISO of 106 against on the season combined,
01:27and a weighted on base percentage of 297.
01:29But look to lefties.
01:30An 072 on the season and a 262 weighted on base percentage.
01:34And also in the last 30 days, an 043 ISO power number.
01:37Why is that important?
01:38Look at the lefties in the lineup today for Detroit.
01:40They do damage against right-handed pitching.
01:43Kerry Carpenter, Colt Keith, Riley Green, Zach McKinstry, Trey Sweeney.
01:47That's the matchup that you want to see today.
01:49If Fetty turns into old Eric Fetty that we love to fade,
01:52this should be a walkaway easy victory.
01:54And also, 74-degree temperatures,
01:5615-mile-an-hour winds or so blowing out to right field.
01:59That's an advantage for left-handed batters.
02:01I don't think it's going to matter for St. Louis.
02:02They ain't going to touch Scoobble.
02:03But I'm interested to see those left-handed bats going up against Fetty,
02:06who hasn't given up a lot of damage to left-handed batters.
