00:00Cave paintings are one of the oldest vestiges of human creativity.
00:07These works of art, dating back thousands of years, are found in caves around the world,
00:12from Europe to Asia and America. Through animal figures, symbols and scenes
00:17hunting, our ancestors left us a window to the past, showing how they lived,
00:22they thought and perceived the world.
00:30But what drove these ancient artists to capture their surroundings on the walls of the
00:35caves? Some experts believe that these paintings had a spiritual or religious purpose,
00:40used in rituals to bring good luck in hunting. Others suggest that they were a form
00:45of communication, transmitting stories and teachings through generations. The techniques
00:51employed are also fascinating. They used natural pigments such as charcoal, clay
00:57and mineral oxides, applied by hand, rudimentary brushes or by blowing the colors
01:02through bone tubes. This simplicity contrasts with the complexity and beauty of
01:06the works, which often show a deep understanding of animal behavior and a
01:11great artistic skill. In short, cave paintings not only show us the
01:16art, but also the minds of early humans. Through them, we can glimpse
01:21their fears, hopes, and their connection to nature. This legacy reminds us of the universality
01:27of art and its ability to transcend time, connecting us with our ancestors
01:32further away.
