I'm Russ Foster and I'm proud to say that I'm the Chief Constable of the Isle of Mancan
00:17
Constabulary. Since 2022 we are thankful to have not experienced any fatalities on our
00:23
public roads during the periods of pre-TT, TT, the Southern 100 and the Manx Grand Prix.
00:30
Joining with our partners we have been meticulously planning for some months now to ensure that
00:35
everyone has a safe and enjoyable TT experience and we continue with our aspiration to end
00:41
the racing season with a fatal free 2025. We are expecting in excess of 40,000 visitors
00:48
to our island to experience the pinnacle of motorcycle road racing. Some people have been
00:54
coming for many many years, others for the first time, but my message to you all is simple
01:00
and naturally the same. Know your limits. Whether this is your riding capability or the capability
01:07
of your motorcycle. Ride within your limits and be respectful of all other road users. Familiarise
01:16
yourself with the twists and turns as well as the camber and addition of the road surfaces.
01:23
Be careful of the changing road conditions brought about by adverse weather.
01:28
Ensure your motorcycle is roadworthy and that appropriate tyres are fitted.
01:35
Ensure you have a valid driving licence and a valid certificate of motor insurance.
01:39
Understand and be respectful of the laws and legislation of the Isle of Man.
01:45
Do not ride or drive whilst under the influence of drink or drugs as this will not be tolerated.
01:51
Anyone driving or riding whilst exceeding the prescribed limits of drink or drugs
01:56
will be arrested and placed before the next available court. Do not exceed speed limits,
02:02
contravene road signs or use mobile phones whilst riding or driving. Obey instructions given by police
02:09
officers and marshals. Do not ride, drive or even step onto a closed road as you will be arrested and
02:16
placed before the next available court. Last year we experienced serious road collisions involving
02:21
motorcyclists who were riding on the wrong side of the road. I want to remind visitors
02:26
in particular from Europe that like the UK we drive and ride on the left hand side of the road
02:31
here in the Isle of Man. Reducing casualties on our road remains one of our top priorities
02:37
and during the event we will be focusing our road policing operations island wide. Those who drive
02:43
or ride irresponsibly without any consideration for other road users will be the focus of the operation
02:49
and any lawbreakers will be dealt with robustly.
02:52
We have marked and unmarked vehicles proactively deployed for the duration of the motorsport periods
02:58
and we will be focusing our efforts around collision hotspots and targeting anyone who is not respecting
03:04
our laws. The Isle of Man Constable welcomes everyone to the island and our officers will be out and about
03:10
across the island keeping you all safe. Officers will be visible accessible and responsive. You will find
03:17
that our police and staff for the duration of the motorsport period will be firm but fair. We are
03:23
approachable, we will be engaging and please feel free to exchange presentries with my officers.
03:30
However, we will be intolerant of crime and disorder. You will find that we will intervene early
03:36
and we will be robust with anyone breaking the law.
03:39
We will arrest, undertake a thorough investigation and place perpetrators before the next available
03:46
court so please take heed of the warning. As you travel and socialise around the island please be
03:53
respectful of residents and businesses who I know will welcome you all. Antisocial behaviour whether on or
04:00
off a vehicle or motorcycle will not be tolerated and there will be a high profile policing presence across the
04:07
many events to ensure that they run safely. When roads are closed due to scheduled practice and race times
04:13
please follow the directions of the event marshals and do not put yourself or the spectators or competitors
04:21
at risk by being irresponsible. Finally, I want to wish everyone a safe journey to the island, enjoy what
04:28
we have to offer, enjoy the races and I wish you all a safe return home to your family and friends. Thank you.
