Festival Guide for 2025 season

Some handy tips to prepare yourself for going to a festival this summer.

00:00Well we've just heard from people in the community, some excited that they're heading

00:04to festivals this summer whilst others are feeling a little bit priced out of the party.

00:09And yeah we all get it, tickets can be really expensive and they're just getting pricey every

00:13year. But if you're lucky enough to be going, whether it's a big name festival or a smaller

00:18local one, you want to be sure that every minute counts. And if it's your first time going to a

00:23festival, or possibly it's been a while and you're a little bit rusty, here's some tried and tested

00:28top tips to help you get the most out of your festival experience. Before you go check the

00:32lineup and the set times, highlight the artists you don't want to miss but also give yourself time to

00:37explore and discover something new. A lot of festivals now have their own apps, they're really handy for

00:43maps, stage times and live updates. And here's a simple but important one, choose a meeting point

00:48with your friends. Some are easy to find if you get separated because you very easily could do.

00:55So let's talk packing. You don't need to bring the kitchen sink, you do need the essentials.

00:59Ticket, ID, bank card or some cash, your phone and an absolute must in 2025 is a portable charger,

01:05ideally charged fully before you go. Then think practical. Sun cream, reasonable bottle,

01:11a hat, poncho if it looks like rain and don't forget hand sanitiser or some wipes. Festival

01:17toilets aren't exactly 5 star. Footwear is a huge topic, you'll be walking,

01:22standing around dancing. If it's anything like some of the festivals I have experienced,

01:26you'll be trudging through mud at some point. Ditch your fashion sandals or your flimsy trainers and

01:31go for something comfy, sturdy, sturdy trainers or wellies possibly. Your feet will thank you by day 3.

01:38And don't forget to hydrate. Festivals have often got free water refill stations now,

01:43so bring a bottle and use it regularly. Now a quick word about volume. Yeah the music's loud and we love it,

01:50but if you're right near the speakers all day your ears will take a hit. So a cheap pair of earplugs

01:55can really help and they won't ruin the sound, in fact they might actually improve it. In 20 years

01:59time you'll thank yourself. And finally leave space for the unexpected. Some of the best bits of a

02:06festival don't happen on the main stage. It might be a surprise set in a hidden tent, a dance-off by the

02:11food trucks or just a fun conversation with someone in glitter and a unicorn onesie.

02:15Be open, say yes and go with the flow. Because that's what festivals are all about. The music,

02:21the atmosphere, the shared experience. Be safe, stay prepared and soak it all in. Because when

02:26it's all over the only thing you'll be taking home is the memories.
