Transcript
00:00So I remember making a bunch of like moody emo ass shit and I finally got to
00:04that song and I was like, oh, she's risen! Thank you, God! Please, please, I don't
00:10want to be like making sad music anymore, but on this album there are a few sad
00:16songs, so bear with me, bear with me, I don't even know.
00:22Hello, Billboard. It's your girl, Rico Nasty. Come spend the day with me.
00:30There is no typical day. I'm like always doing something and if I'm not doing something
00:42then I'm doing a call and if I'm not doing a call, I am smoking weed.
00:50Rollout life is so different from regular life. Regular life, I'm literally doing what I'm about
00:55to go do right now, which is go buy a Gundam and try to see what they have at the store.
01:02But yeah, I'm trying to bring the world together. There's no reason for them to be separate.
01:07So even though I have to work, I still am trying to find time for fun stuff and things that
01:12I enjoy in my real life so that I'm not just giving my all to this music shit.
01:18The first song you made for this project, was it Teeth Sucker?
01:22It was Teeth Sucker and I didn't really, I didn't really understand that I was fully
01:28working on the album when I made that song either.
01:30I kind of just made it and I knew it belonged to something.
01:32I didn't know quite what, but I was like, okay, this is a good song.
01:36I like this song.
01:42It makes me feel happy and this should be something, I don't know what yet.
01:47I don't know that moment when you're like, oh, you still got it in here.
01:50You still got it in here, you still got it in here.
01:54I was really like a pat on the back type of song.
01:56So I remember making a bunch of like moody, emo-ass shit and I finally got to that song
02:01and I was like, oh, she's risen, thank you God, please, please.
02:06I don't want to be like making sad music anymore.
02:10But on this album, there are a few sad songs, so bear with me, bear with me out of here.
02:19We're at the store, we're at the Tamashii Nation store.
02:24And they, they don't have like builds that you can build, but there are builds here that were built by...
02:32What are you saying?
02:33Go, go, go, go, go.
02:35I'm excited to see what they have in here, honestly.
02:37Um, first things first, I started Godzilla though.
02:40Cause that's what my son loves.
02:44Um...
02:47Godzilla and King Kong are literally perfect ones.
02:51The best fight ever was Godzilla and King Kong.
02:55I love Godzilla versus King Kong.
02:57My son loves it.
02:59And this is kind of what got me into Gundam, just per se.
03:05My brother, he got me a Gundam, but he took my son to like the stores that have like shit like that.
03:10And, um, yeah, when he came on tour, he was like always like, oh, I need to find a store.
03:14I need to find a store. I need to find Gundam. I need to find Gundam.
03:16I'm like, okay, whatever.
03:17So, um, they bonded over that and then I slowly got into it.
03:23I'm still fairly new in it.
03:25So for all the people out there that are like Gunplug, Gundam, whatever the fuck.
03:31I like, my favorite brand is 30 Minute Sisters.
03:34And this one is really fucking insane, not gonna lie.
03:40These are the toys that my son likes, the SH Figure Arts.
03:43He says that those are the best toys ever.
03:45They're also the most fucking expensive.
03:47Like, I'm not paying $100 for an action figure, but he does have $100 action figures.
03:51That was his first word, by the way.
03:52It was Batman.
03:53But they do, like, um, every toy that you can think of, actually.
04:01They did, like, the Spider-Man, Miles Morales toys.
04:04Oh, wow, look.
04:05Where?
04:08Speaking of, guys, literally these are the ones that he has.
04:12Oh, yeah, these are the toys that he has.
04:14And hold on.
04:16Look at the price.
04:18I was not capping $100 for a fucking toy.
04:22I love the Spider-Pog.
04:24I'm about to buy him another one.
04:26He's into Deadpool right now.
04:28He's not supposed to be into Deadpool.
04:29So Gundam are, like, the original Transformers.
04:34So Transformers basically copied them.
04:37Okay.
04:38And Americanized them.
04:40But, um...
04:41But now they're getting their leg back.
04:43They are.
04:44And they're available in the U.S.
04:45They are.
04:46There's a movie that just came out, Transformers 1.
04:49And that kind of tells the story about Gundam and what they were before they got electricity.
04:56So once they got electricity, that's when they became Transformers.
05:02But before that, they were, like, miners and workers.
05:06And, like, they didn't have all the shit that Transformers have.
05:10And that movie tells the story about it.
05:11And it's a really good movie about friendship.
05:15I mean, my son saw it.
05:16And they actually, yeah, they were selling Gundams in, like, in the movie theater.
05:20Okay.
05:21So I thought that was crazy, like, seeing model kids in the movie theater.
05:24But, yeah, there's levels.
05:26So there's, like, easy.
05:27Then there's medium.
05:28Then there's intermediate.
05:30Then there's, like, extremely hard.
05:31For the ones you put together.
05:32For the ones you put together.
05:33Let me show you guys, like, an extremely hard one.
05:37I would say it's really hard to build.
05:39These with the wings.
05:41And, well, this one's pretty, this is complicated because it has, like, a jet on the back.
05:48But these with the wings are pretty hard.
05:50And I would say these down here, oh, these are actually, like, the first type of Gundams.
05:56They look like, like, soldiers.
05:57I have the Hello Kitty version of this one.
05:59But, um, yeah, these are pretty easy to build.
06:03You are not kidding.
06:04Yeah, they're pretty easy to build.
06:06How many do you think you have?
06:08Um, probably 25.
06:12Okay.
06:13Do you like to display them in your house together?
06:15Yeah, I do.
06:16I don't think I could put them together.
06:18Yeah, that is bomb.
06:20You could.
06:21You would surprise yourself.
06:22That's why I like doing it.
06:23It surprises me.
06:25Do you feel like it's calming?
06:27Yeah, it's like bad bitch Legos.
06:30Is it?
06:31Who's the bad bitch one?
06:33Where?
06:34This one.
06:35Right?
06:36No, let me show you 30-Minute Sisters.
06:38Let me show you, bro.
06:3930-Minute Sisters is, like, you got the sword, you got the jetpack.
06:43I don't know.
06:44That's giving baddie to me.
06:46Bad bitch.
06:51I mean, they're thick.
06:53Bad bitch.
06:55Yeah, I see it.
06:57That one is wild.
07:00They are baddies.
07:03Okay, let me buy this toy.
07:07Have a good day.
07:09All right, guys, that was fun.
07:11Now let's go get ready for a clam.
07:13All right, I'm going to go into the hotel.
07:22Do you guys want to come?
07:23You have no choice.
07:24You have to come.
07:25Let's go.
07:26Get in here.
07:38This is what I got to play in the car.
07:40I'm ready for it.
07:41I'm serious.
07:42Look, I'm going to show you.
07:43Watch.
07:44Two times one is two.
07:49Two times two is four, type shit.
07:53You know what I mean?
07:54I don't know.
07:55Two times three is six.
07:58Y'all better know y'all fucking math.
08:00Bitch, I'm a mother.
08:01Come on.
08:02Where are you in your Saturn return?
08:04I'm in it.
08:05That's what they say.
08:06I'm talking about in it.
08:08I'm talking about in it.
08:10Before it started, before you started, what were you feeling like?
08:16Like, could you feel it coming?
08:18It was, it just, it started with the clothes.
08:21It started with the clothes first.
08:23It was like certain shit that I felt like was stuff that I loved just became like shit
08:29that I was like, I don't know if I play with this anymore.
08:33I don't know if I like this anymore.
08:34I don't know if this is me anymore.
08:36It's weird.
08:37It's like you kind of wake up and you kind of feel uncomfortable in your choices.
08:41That's a better word.
08:43You kind of look at your life and you're like, wait, are these the choices that I should
08:47be making or should I be doing something else?
08:52While Saturn is doing her thing, what is keeping you from like?
08:59Oh, well, there was a time where it was like, it was like, I'm about to be 28.
09:05So we're like literally the same, almost like I'm about to be 28.
09:08So it feels like I felt that way for months.
09:14Actually, it was a really long period of time where I was like, everything is fucked up.
09:19It felt like a year where everything was just like not making sense.
09:24I don't want to say fucked up because I'm very thankful for my life.
09:27Like people wouldn't even know that anything was fucked up if I don't say it, but it was fucked up.
09:33And I was like, what is happening?
09:35This cannot be what I worked so hard to like, I can't believe I worked so hard to get here
09:42and now I'm unhappy.
09:43Like that's so fucking lame.
09:45That got to be the lamest shit ever.
09:47Like that's not the way this book ends, bro.
09:49This is so lame, bro.
09:51No, please.
09:54You have what you wanted, but you're not the person who wanted those things originally, you know?
09:58Yeah, that's really what it was.
10:00It just felt like I had everything, but it wasn't really one line.
10:04It wasn't really things I wanted.
10:06It wasn't really things that mattered to me.
10:10And I didn't really know what mattered to me.
10:13So that took some time figuring out, too.
10:14But I mean, that shit, I feel like that's just life.
10:18Do you feel like back in control?
10:22I felt very much back in control.
10:24I felt almost too in control.
10:25I feel like a control freak sometimes.
10:28I feel like I'm like...
10:31Can you add more to the schedule?
10:33Feel it out.
10:34Every day.
10:35I want to be booked.
10:36I want to call.
10:37I want to do this.
10:38Like, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I love working.
10:39And so I feel like I'm pretty happy.
10:41I feel like I was just kind of talking to you about this, but like when you have a team
10:47that's fun, it just doesn't really feel like work.
10:51Like, when you're damn near working with your friends, it feels exactly like that.
10:56Like, the days just zoom past and I don't think I've fully taken any of it in yet.
11:04You definitely went through some big changes with your team.
11:08I feel like when I saw the news about Fueled by Ramen, I was like, okay.
11:15I'd love to hear a little bit more about how that partnership came about and when you realized
11:21it was going to be the right fit for you to make this project on your own terms.
11:25Well, it actually started off a hot-ass mess.
11:31I, like, went a little while where I didn't have management and, like, shit was, like,
11:37up in the air and I think that's really what I'm talking about when I say, like, life is
11:41kind of, like, what's happening because I hadn't not had a manager in my entire career.
11:46So, I didn't have any management.
11:49I was, like, working with people, but it wasn't really what I wanted to be.
11:54And Hailey Williams from Fairmore, she was on tour and she was like, you know, come out,
11:58do a mystery business, how she always does.
12:01And I was like, okay, of course, like, stop being.
12:06It's just, all you got to do is take the word.
12:08It's clean, clean, I'm coming, I'm coming.
12:10So, I go, I do it, it's an amazing experiment, experience, experiment, that's crazy.
12:17It was an amazing experience and I honestly felt like, I don't know, my inner child really
12:23jumped out and I hadn't seen her in a while.
12:25Like, I hadn't seen her in a while on stage, I hadn't seen her in a while backstage, like,
12:32amongst a team like that.
12:34So, I was like, wow, like, this, this feels nice.
12:38And then I got to talk to Hailey and then when the show was over, I remember going home
12:42and feeling like, I want a team like that.
12:47I want people who just support me and I'm not being forced to be anything that I'm not
12:54and it just goes with the flow.
12:55I don't know, I kind of had a long talk with myself and obviously the universe heard,
13:00because then management is calling like, hey, Rico, like, do you have a manager?
13:06And I'm like, no, I kind of do, I kind of don't figure it out.
13:12And they're like, all right, well, we want to like, like, let's, let's see if we can make
13:16some shake.
13:17Like, we're going to come to a show.
13:18Like, let's see, like, let's, let's not force it again.
13:21Let's just ease into this because we don't even know you, but like, we, we fuck with you
13:26and we like your music.
13:27And like, after the show, I guess they had listened to my music and we're like, wait,
13:33she got a little, she got a little kick to her.
13:35Okay.
13:36After that, it kind of just felt like, like, I barely even remember when I didn't have management.
13:42I barely even remember like what it was like with my own management.
13:45Cause it just feels like, I don't know.
13:48We, we're always making stuff happen.
13:50Everybody's in a good mood.
13:52Everybody gets their point across.
13:53Everybody gets heard.
13:54When we go into the meeting, it's straight business.
13:56It's no small talk.
13:57It's no being around the bush.
13:58And that overall helps that draining ice cloud of like, okay, well, what are we doing?
14:06Cause when you sign to a major, it just be starting to feel like, all right.
14:08So what are we, what are we doing?
14:10What are we doing?
14:11Are we doing a project?
14:12Are we doing singles?
14:13You can't drop the singles, you can't clear the singles, okay.
14:15So, so what are we doing?
14:16Like, what's the vibe?
14:20Yeah, we're about to go.
14:21It's not a show.
14:22Why do I keep calling it a show?
14:23Shout out to Lot Radio for having me.
14:24Um, yeah.
14:25So I don't think I'm going to wear this belt.
14:31We are headed to Lot Radio and I'm going to do somewhat of like a DJ set type of thing.
14:40Um, my DJ is going to mix in a couple of my songs, but this is a live stream.
14:46So, um, I'm a little nervous.
14:49I'm not going to lie.
14:50All right, guys.
14:51See you in a sec.
14:52Bye.
14:53Bye.
14:54Bye.
14:55Bye.
14:56Bye.
14:57Bye.
14:58Bye.
14:59Bye.
15:00Bye.
15:01Bye.
15:02Bye.
15:03Bye.
15:04Bye.
15:05Bye.
15:06Bye.
15:08Bye.
15:09Bye.
15:10Bye.
15:18Bye.
15:19What's up, guys?
15:20I just finished my Lot Radio performance thing.
15:24It was lit.
15:25It was so much fun.
15:26Some of my homies came through and now we are on the way to On The Radar.
15:32So quick fit change.
15:35And I just had really good matcha vulva.
15:39And yeah, let's fucking go.
15:46Okay guys, I'm here.
15:47Outfit change, we're at On The Radar.
15:50And I will see you guys when I'm done.
15:52Bye.
15:53I know you like my outfit though.
15:54I know you like the outfit though.
15:55Look at the outfit check, look at the boots, period.
15:57Love you, Alexander Wang.
16:00She always made it corny.
16:02Okay, Ms. Dory, I was making new page to watch my story.
16:05Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it.
16:12Okay guys, that was so much fun.
16:16Shout out to On The Radar for that one.
16:20They really, really ate that one.
16:21All right, so next, I'm done.
16:23I'm literally done with work, like work is done.
16:26That was like a whole busy ass day, low key.
16:28I got a show tomorrow, but right now we're gonna do
16:30one of my favorite things to do after a long day
16:34when I still have my voice.
16:36Karaoke.
16:38Little by little, I've been like practicing things.
16:40Like I've been taking vocal lessons.
16:42And when I get back home,
16:44I'm gonna take professional guitar lessons,
16:47even though it's like, I kinda like learn how to play guitar
16:49on YouTube with my homie Jade.
16:52But like, I wanna learn actually how to play
16:55and not just like playing from YouTube.
16:58I don't know if it's even a difference.
16:59I don't know if I'm wasting my time,
17:00but I feel like, you know, things like that,
17:03I wanna incorporate into my show.
17:05I mean like, I've already incorporated so many live
17:07instruments on the album.
17:09So I just wanna bring that to the stage
17:11and have fun with that.
17:14Hell yeah.
17:16I feel like the last time we kicked it,
17:19you were coming off a not so great tour experience,
17:21opening for Cardi.
17:22Yeah.
17:23And the reason I bring that up is cause I feel like
17:26that definitely seemed like a moment where you said,
17:30they're mad, but I'm not.
17:31Cause I know what I'm doing is sick.
17:33I feel like it's kinda weird sometimes being a girl
17:36and I kinda touched on that in the album,
17:39kinda just like said I'm too violent, I rock out.
17:42Like I've been told before,
17:45I can't do certain stuff at shows,
17:47but like I see other people be able to do it
17:50and I still do what I wanna do.
17:52And I feel like, you know what I mean?
17:55Um, that like goes the longest way,
17:58longer than anything, longer than conforming.
18:00Cause I could get a bunch of dancers
18:03and I could learn how to dance, you know?
18:05And I feel like your performance should be
18:10what you wanna do right now and always,
18:13through my career, I've always loved instruments
18:15and the beauty of live performances.
18:17So why not elevate that in my way?
18:20And I think it was so hard to find that,
18:22especially during that tour,
18:23cause so much masculine energy online
18:26being thrown at me, I questioned like,
18:28should I be being more sexy?
18:30Like, should I be, you know what I'm saying?
18:32Like, should I be dancing up here?
18:34But I don't make music like that.
18:36I make music to rage to.
18:37So why am I up there trying to be something I'm not?
18:40And it's not like I ever,
18:42I've had dancers a couple of times
18:43and it's no shade to people that have dancers.
18:45Like if you can dance, have dancers.
18:47Like, I know y'all see me do a little two step,
18:49but I don't know if I'm like the best dancer around.
18:50Like, I don't think,
18:53I don't think I want to be having to remember that
18:57and remember the words and engaging with the crowd.
19:00I'd rather remember notes and keys,
19:03playing the guitar, my cues with the band
19:05and shit like that, but to each his own.
19:08And I feel like women are often boxed into like,
19:11I say it all the time, leotards and dancers.
19:13And that's, that's always been the most feminine,
19:16cool thing to do.
19:17And I just, I want to reinvent that.
19:19I don't, I don't think that should be all
19:21that we can do on stage.
19:25Hey guys, we're here, about to be karaoke.
19:29And I'm excited to see what songs they're about to pick.
19:31Cause I'm energized.
19:33I'm going straight to the honor.
19:43My father, the sun is drowning in the blood.
19:51Got a couple bottles, but a couple in it up.
19:54Bottoms up, bottoms up.
19:56Throw your hands up.
19:57Tell security we about to tennis club up.
20:00Bottoms up, bottoms up.
20:02We're done here.
20:03Good night, motherfucker.
20:06Yeah.
20:08Stream lethal.
20:09Kiss my ass, get a drink or two.
20:11Bottoms up, bitch.
20:13Hey, hey.
20:14All right, y'all, for real.
20:16Bye.
