Pat McFadden has rejected the comparison between the prime minister's recent speech on illegal migration and Enoch Powell's 'Rivers of Blood' speech. The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster added, "It's very different from what we're saying this week, which is migration can make a great contribution to the United Kingdom, but it's got to be done with some rules around it". 00:00We need a country with rules, rules and obligations and responsibilities and I think everyone agrees with that and rather than focusing on a particular phrase I think people should focus on the policy at the heart of this which is to say migration has been really good for the United Kingdom, it will continue to be good for the United Kingdom in the future but the public expect this to be done in a way that has some rules around it and it's some new rules around it that we announced this week and that's what the Prime Minister was talking about.
