Bill Gates told Fortune in an exclusive interview about his perspective on the next generation of philanthropists—and which entrepreneurs are already leading the charge when it comes to giving.

00:00There are an awful lot of fairly young entrepreneurs now, almost all type of entrepreneurs, but

00:06who have a lot of money already, and they are, let's hope, the next generation of philanthropists.

00:15Do you observe them?

00:16Do you have any sense of what might motivate them, what they would like to do?

00:21There are exemplars like Mark Zuckerberg, you know, through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

00:28is committed to give over 90% of his wealth away, and he's off to a very good start.

00:33He's someone I talk to about a lot of things, including philanthropy, and they do education

00:40research.

00:41We partner on some of that.

00:42The tech sector, although it's not a philanthropic as I'd like it to be, it is one of the most

00:51philanthropic sectors.

00:52There are dozens and dozens of tech entrepreneurs in the Giving Pledge doing amazing giving, and

01:01there are people like Ron Conway who talk to all the tech entrepreneurs, in the U.S. at

01:07least, and try to get them thinking even early in their career, okay, start small, but this

01:14is something that will be very fulfilling.
