00:00A political analyst expects Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to form a pact with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan

00:07Nasional for the upcoming State Assembly elections, though some seat clashes are likely.

00:12James Chin of the University of Tasmania said that since GRS is a key partner in Prime Minister

00:18Anwar Ibrahim's unity government, some kind of deal with BNNPH is expected, which had announced

00:23an alliance on Friday. He predicted a simple arrangement where some seats are negotiated

00:28among the coalitions, while others will be open to contest by any of the parties.

00:32On Friday, GRS had threatened to contest the elections alone, with its chairman,

00:37Hajiji Noor, insisting that local Sabah parties should leave the state government.

00:41However, PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim was optimistic after meeting Hajiji,

00:45and said PH fully supports him in leading discussions on a three-coalition alliance.

00:51Sabah, UMNO, and GRS have been at odds since UMNO withdrew support for Hajiji in January 2023,

00:56though he remained in power with backing from Sabah PH and some UMNO assemblymen.

01:01Another analyst, Bil Chirbala of University Malaysia Sabah, said the coalitions must unite to avoid

01:07splitting votes, which would benefit rivals like Warisan and Parti Kusajatra on democratic masyarakat.
