KMT Lawmaker Hsu Hsin-ying Keeps Seat After Recall Drive Falls Short

KMT legislator Hsu Hsin-ying will avoid a recall vote after a campaign against her failed to collect the required number of signatures. Supporters were seen rushing to submit petitions ahead of the deadline, but the campaign fell about 2,000 short of the more than 21,000 signatures needed. Hsu later said she would listen to the public with more humility. It’s the first major recall effort to complete but fall short in its signature-gathering phase. More recall campaigns are expected to move forward in May and June.
