00:00Hello there, a very good morning to you. After yesterday's widely dry and sunny start to
00:05the weekend, there is a chance of a touch more rain around today, courtesy of a few
00:10weather fronts that are lingering, one towards the far north west of the UK, a nowhere that's
00:14being brought in by this area of low pressure towards the south. Despite that though, winds
00:19moving in an anti-clockwise direction around the low means that we're dragging in a south-easterly
00:24breeze and some very warm air from parts of continental Europe.
00:28Nevertheless though, we are already starting to see the presence of some showers down
00:32towards the south-west, moving from the Channel Islands up to areas of the west country. Part
00:36of Wales and the West Midlands could also see some showers developing into the afternoon,
00:40potentially on the sharp and thundery side in places. The afternoon will tend to turn quite
00:45cloudy for Northern Ireland with some outbreaks of rain, a few showers for Northern and Western
00:48Scotland as well, but elsewhere managing to stay dry with a good amount of sunshine still
00:53and temperatures really responding to that with highs of 25, maybe 26 degrees Celsius in
00:58inland. While it's a little bit cooler out towards the coasts where we do have that
01:02breeze coming in off the North Sea. Nevertheless, the sunshine is going to be strong. Where we
01:07see the orange colours here, that's where we have high UV levels expected today. Moderate
01:12UV levels out towards the west where there is that touch more cloud around, but certainly
01:16skin protection is advised if you're going to be in that sunshine for prolonged periods of
01:20time today. As we head throughout this evening and overnight, we'll continue to see these showers
01:25coming in from the south and the west. Again, potential that they will be thundery in nature,
01:30certainly some heavy downpours continuing. Our easterly breeze out in the North Sea, though,
01:35is going to provide some quite low cloud for the far northeast of England and the eastern areas
01:39of Scotland as well. So it will turn a little bit misty and murky here. Temperatures, though,
01:44mostly on the mild sides, ranging between 10 and 14 degrees Celsius across Northern Ireland,
01:50England and Wales. Just a little bit cooler where we have the clearest of skies up towards
01:54northern areas of Scotland. The cloud along eastern coastal districts here will gradually
01:59burn back as we head into the morning period, but it could linger for the Northern Isles for a good
02:04portion of Monday. Nevertheless, inland and mainland areas of Scotland managing to see a decent amount of
02:09sunshine. The showers will continue their way northwards throughout the day. There is an
02:14uncertainty in regards to exactly how widespread these showers could occur, but certainly they'll
02:19still bring the risk of thunder, lightning and some hail in there as well. Rain is needed
02:25after a very dry spring so far. However, these showers are likely to be short, sharp and provide
02:31those torrential downpours that will run off very quickly off the dry ground that we currently have,
02:37and that could lead to some localised impacts that it's worth taking care of and staying up to date
02:41with the latest forecast as we head into Monday. Nevertheless, we still have that very warm air in
02:47play, so highs again are 25, 26 degrees Celsius, maybe even that little bit more widely during the
02:53day. The area of low pressure that is bringing in these showers will eventually retreat its way back
02:58towards the south, and that allows high pressure to build in again for the middle of next week. So
03:02things generally settling down once again, and there'll be plentiful amounts of sunshine to enjoy as we head
03:07later on. We'll now have more updates on that on the YouTube channel, so do subscribe.
03:11Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your day. Bye-bye.
